The whole point of their character dynamic was that Goku was a little shithead hick kid and Bulma was a rich, uptight, city girl. Ostensibly, two such opposite people (if they don't absolutely despise each other) would gain valuable perspective from each other over a prolonged period of cooperation that they never would have known had they not met. So yeah, Goku and Bulma are much better complements for each other. Goku and Chichi were the result of having two naive, head-in-the-clouds characters get together and the result is honestly pretty depressing.
