The studio got lucky with Jackman because he brought something the audience hadn't seen before. That won't work twice.

Read the reviews at the time, I can't be bothered typing it out. It's all irrelevant anyway because as I said it won't work twice. It's been done.

After Jackman people wont accept midge Wolverine.

                They won't accept anything else.

                >what's been done?

And I gave you the example and told you to read the reviews at the time. It's all very trite and boring which is the point. Up until 2000 that hadn't been done before. The abs with a bad attitude, the bestial blah blah, read the fricking reviews.

These days it's more trouble getting Hemsworth to keep his shirt on than it was to find someone like Hugh Jackman to take his off in 2000. Back then superheros were clean and campy.

So there you go, you trolled it out of me.

Yeah and as you can see I didn't enjoy the two paragraphs I eventually half arsed anyway. It's just not going to seem like anything to someone who didn't experience it real time.

The point being that they need to find a new Wolverine, not a new Hugh Jackman, because is it's just not special any more.

Wolverine is an angry canadian midget.
And the next wolverine is going to still be playing Wolverine 30 or 40 years from now. 30 years old is the upper limit on the next Wolverine, you buff Tom Holland.

      >too old to play wolverine
      Not really

        Anonymous

Yeah really. He might look the part now, but lets say he gets it, it would have to be a 10 picture deal (3 solo, 3 teamups, 4 ensembles) from the outset. Even assuming it's on a production line principle photography for the first one and press for the last one are 12 years apart. He's 46 now so assuming he starts tomorrow he'd be 58 for X-men 3 part 2: the superduper awesome one we've all been waiting for.

That's giving him the same deal as Chris Evans, but they'd be fools if they did that again. Having to write out Captain America with nothing the core audience wanted to see to replace him.

What they're actually going to want to do is give him a 5 to 10 year break where he just does cameos then bring him back for an Old Man Logan arc, which would be at least another 7, which means by the time he'll actually be done he'll be well into his 70s, possible 80s.

Patrick Stewart trying to play Picard stuff.

And this is Wolverine, the one character out of all of the X-men they cannot frick around with. If they get him right everything else should fall into place, if they frick it up it doesn't matter what else they do it will bomb.

They could just bring Daphne Keen back and go with the X-23 character instead; they wouldn’t have to try and get a new Wolverine after Hugh and they already quasi-passed the torch in “Logan”.

In terms of bringing the X-men into the MCU I think that's probably the best idea. Dafne Keen aged well and is well liked.

But I think that leaves a lot of money on the table that can only be gotten with a seperate universe. It's one or the other though, and it looks like they've made their decision, so yeah I'd go with X-23 joins the Avengers. That said, nu-Avengers really doesn't need another minority woman at this point, so it's probably just not going to work at all. If Black Pander 2 makes 400 million I'll be surprised, and this is definitely going to be post-that.

Which in turn opens the gate for an X-men universe based on the Ultimate X-men continuity when they reboot it. But if Joe Manganiello isn't too old already he definitely will be by then.

Nobody except pedophiles, redditors and eternally online twitter users wants to watch a female wolverine. Majority of movie goers are getting very tired of the obvious genderswapping bullshit that's going on.

              Anonymous

You're not wrong, but it's not Female wolverine it's Wolverine's daughter. It's more than just a genderbend.

That said, you're throwing her into a universe with genderfluid Loki, black female ironman, Captain Female, Muslim Captain female, female hawkeye, black captain America...

Yeah that's another minority woman on an already way too crowded roster without out any classics there to balance it out.

But THAT said, the MCU is in terminal decline anyway, too many mistakes were made in 2018-19. So a movie or two with Daphne Keen as X-23 is a very simple way to tell a story that won't otherwise get told.

      >Jensen is a tall prettyboy
      Yeah he should be Cyclops

        Anonymous

If they reboot X-men as it's own thing they ought to do the Cyclops is actually a creep and Jean was never even remotely interested in him thing.

The theory goes that X-men cartoon version of the X-men was actually written by Cyclops, that's why Wolverine is a crazy arsehole and Jean chooses Scott who saves her three times an episode because she's just so fragile and delicate. Also Scott is the professor's favorite student and the real leader who everyone respected not Storm who mostly talked nonsense.

Because Scott Summers wrote the comics and the Cyclops character is his self-insert mary sue, and he never got over his crush on Jean as he slowly turned into comic book guy. In reality he was the hallmonitor who creeped on Jean who barely noticed him, and Storm being actual royalty was the natural choice as leader and the A-team was Wolverine, Rogue and Storm who won every fight between them because of course they did.

Egerton was rumored a couple of days ago here he has been in lots of fancast and I suppose Disney wants him, some people want Radcliffe, Scott Eastwood could play that shit too, that guy or Schreiber are too old to play Wolverine 20 years.

      Anonymous

The only interesting name on that list is Radcliffe, everyone else is trying to play Hugh Jackman.

I don't see Radcliffe, but I'm thinking now of Imperium he's definitely got range. He's the right height and colouring, he's a professional and a known quantity who's not going to pull an Ezra Miller. He'll have to put on 20 kilos and spend three hours in makeup every morning but it could work. Plus he brings the Twilight crowd, they're not worth much but they're not worth nothing.

      >Egerton
He also hopes to succeed Jackman as the next Wolverine and has met with Marvel Studio executives, including the company’s president, Kevin Feige.
