Why can you not accept that he liked the fricking movie? The Pinkett review was mostly fandom crap because TFA, despite its flaws, is fine. Some gas mask guy on YouTube is like 14 hours into some long, fake-ass critique and it's nothing but an extended exercise in pedantry. Cinema Sins if he got paid by the word.
>TFA, despite its flaws, is fine
It's not.
It basically shits on the achievements of the characters of the original trilogy and resets the state of the conflict to the very beginning.
There's literally nothing wrong with this froma business perspective. If you bank on peoples nostalgia, then their greasy asses will be sat in a theater chair, story be damned.
>because TFA, despite its flaws, is fine
It's really not. It's a shitty, incomplete story. None of the characters are developed or likeable. The plot is predictable and the set pieces are uninspired.
>Name one thing you can say it does well. Or one thing it does at all that wasn't in the OT.
It has a brilliant episodic feel to it. It’s full of mini conflicts that are tied up as you go. Like with the bounty hunters: you think “aw sheeet how’s Frickin HAN SOLO gonna get himself out of this scrape!?!?!?” And then some tentacle monsters go wild. It’s a fricking rollercoaster if thrills my dude.
People like him are the reason Disney thought they could get away with creating the entire trilogy with minimal effort. TFA had all the warning signs and he stupidly ignored them like a brainless consoomer
It's actually the worst one, completely creatively bankrupt.
He should've waited 10 years before making a plinkett review, instead that fat midwit made the review while he was still in the honeymoon phase with that dogwater movie.
>It's actually the worst one, completely creatively bankrupt.
Well that' the thing: it's the worst one NOW because we've seen the sequels and know all its promises and mysteries and foreshadowing were all bullshit. I was JJ doing his mystery box bullshit. Anyone familiar with JJ's previous work could've seen it coming from a mile away (I fricking did) But a lot of people were willing to give TFA the benefit of the doubt and think that all it's promises were actually leading somewhere and not a bunch of empty nonsense.
If you haven't seen it yet I'd recommend watching his 2007 TED talk:
All the warning signs were there all along. I will say though that TFA sucks HARDER now because they screwed up the reveals of all the mysteries in the sequels SO HARD it now retroactively makes the first one worse. Not that TFA was great to begin with but back in 2015 you could... kinda.... sorta give it the benefit of the doubt... if you were squinting... at night. Now that we know there was no plan and none of the mysteries ever had a solution to them or any kind of forward planning AT ALL it's now revealed to be as hollow and empty as we all thought it might be.
Say what you want about Lucas but he did have a vague plan of where he was going. He also pulled shit of his arse at the last minute and changed things and caused a bunch of continuity muck-ups but he at least had something approaching an outline. Pic related was the earliest version of his sequel/prequel plans from December 1975 (it's from a taped interview with Alan Dean Forester who'd write the novelization, hence why George's referring to the sequels as 'books' here)
Christ the foreshadowing is amazing. He just laid bare pretty much the fatal flaw with his writing style
>He just laid bare pretty much the fatal flaw with his writing style
I think it is worth noting though that contextually a lot of people liked his work. I don't think people remember quite how big something like Lost was, for example.
Oh sure. And I actually really liked Mission Impossible 3 when it came out. But I do remember the backlash during the last season of Lost where a lot of people felt ripped off and that they'd built up these mysteries and secrets for YEARS only to find out that they had been making shit up as they went along the entire time. I know people look back more fondly at Lost now but I think the backlash to the end has been somewhat memory-holed too.

Oh sure there was a huge backlash and drop off with it. That show was the water cooler show everyone talked about then. In a way that something like Game of Thrones became and then went a similar way. Easy to look at these people sometimes and go "how the frick are they still getting work" but then they did create some shit like that they can point to.

In the UK Lost was picked up by Channel 4 which is one of the major channels anyone can get. They dropped it for the final season so Sky bought it and the final episode only got a couple hundred thousand viewers kek.

Lost was on Channel 4 for two seasons got super big and popular and then switched to Sky for the third season onwards. The third season also happened to be the Writer's Strike season and meandered a bunch. So it was on Sky for three seasons.

That's right I couldn't remember the exact details but it was reported at the time and the drop off in viewers was one do the worst I'm aware of. The figures are so embarrassing Lostpedia didn't even bother to list them after season three for the UK it's just left blank.
A lot of people liked the mystery box stuff when he did something that worked well for it.
Cloverfield is a good example. In the first film, you had no fricking idea what that thing was. You knew it was not of this world, there's the moment in the end where you see it first fall into the water. You had the ARG and the canon manga that tied it to a cult. And production interviews let us know it was a juvenile and was mostly acting in fear.
But even for all that, you had no fricking idea what the Cloverfield monster was.
And that was precisely the problem of them trying to answer that in a sequel. We never needed to see the monster fully grown, we never needed to learn jack shit about how it got to our world, it just got more and more devalued because there was no satisfying way to give a full lore on the monster
>It's actually the worst one, completely creatively bankrupt.

That's what happens when you have a movie series made by a committee and the only real concern is making money,
Even with a tard like Lucas he at least had an original vision and fortunately there were a bunch of passionate skilled people who ended up helping him build that vision but with the Disney Wars you don't have any of that.
>you could... kinda.... sorta give it the benefit of the doubt... if you were squinting... at night.
Same thing for The Phantom Menace. It did a lot of wrong that could have been fixed but wasn't. It's still the best prequel imo. TFA is still worse though, since it's just a glib facsimile of ANH.
Now that the dust has settled, it's pretty clear that Mike just hated the prequels because George Lucas is:
A. White
B. Straight
And
C. Male
TFA is good to Mike solely because it has a woman lead and BBC. That's literally it.
>I know when The Force Awakens came out we were relatively positive on it, and hindsight is 20/20, and I think now that movie being as successful as it was is the worst thing that could have ever happened to Hollywood.
-Jay Bauman
The simple truth is, a lot of people liked TFA and only changed their mind via hindsight and now all pretend they always hated it to win pseudo intellectual internet points. The endless cycle of pop culture consumption; hate and love and never experiencing anything else so you can focus on hating something some more.
Do you know how I know you're a newbie? Because you declare everyone thinks a single way as if this place isn't full of morons too. I was here back then. Some people liked it, some people didn't. Cinemaphile isn't all one person. Anyway I was talking more broadly. This shit isn't even about the fricking movie, it is about the meta narratives around the culture wars at this point. And most people are unreliable in their opinions because they change all the time depending on what some Youtuber says. And you know that is true.
Not that other guy but I just remember everyone mocking Stormtrooper Gorilla's mug when it was first reveled, literally the whole board was swamped with mockery of it for months and most everyone had pretty much accepted it was going to suck save a minority who held out and said it was ok.
Yeah that was pretty memed, especially how he was edited out of the Chinese poster too. That doesn't mean everyone hated it at the time though. People just like to meme shit.
My point was that a sizable portion of the board already hated the movie after it came out, so your original post about anons retroactively changing their opinions doesn't change that fact
And what proportion of those people aren't just contrarians who hate everything anyway? You're under the delusion that this place seemingly is filled with enlightened people who see through the slop when it is full of people who fall for it every time. Even people who claim they hated it from the get go aren't exactly beacons of intellect. They are people who still endlessly consume pop culture, if not to just complain about it. So what do you really want to say? That people on Cinemaphile saw through it at the beginning? To make what point? This place isn't as different as you think it is.

I never said everyone is a brainless memeposter. Metanarratives and perceptions do matter though, that is what I was saying. Some people didn't like the early MCU movies but people loved that gimmick. Now people like to pretend they always hated those movies too or they were ruined. Some people leap onto these changing perceptions like rats leaving a sinking ship and ruin discussions. Why this upset you so much I don't know, unless you feel personally attacked by it.

Even outside of Cinemaphile, most of the general consensus was "liking it as you first saw it, but then you walk out of the theater and say 'wait a minute.' "
If you unironically like TFA as a movie you are literally a moron baby. You could had watched A New Hope and gotten more satisfaction. TFA just tried to include a new generation of KIDS to give a frick about a BOOMER's poorly crafted scifi saga that Disney even had no faith in wanting to expand upon because they made all of the EU stuff not canon.
>TFA just tried to include a new generation of KIDS to give a frick about a BOOMER's poorly crafted scifi saga
Star Wars was already a multi-generational thing, kids from the 70s to the 2000s liked it. It should have been a slam dunk for Disney but they royally fricked it up.
In case you didn't realize it, dummy, simply describing your opponent in a derogatory manner makes your argument stronger, because you deporsonalize your opponent. Hope that clears things up.
He really wanted to believe that Star Wars was saved and back to good form so he gaslit himself into believing the movie was okay by making excuses for its flaws. A whole lot of Star Wars fans did this.
Yep this was true. For me it was the first Star Wars film that I fell asleep watching. People bought in on this Wookieepedia style setup of “potential” and that it was a “good set up” (???), as if a future film is going to make a bad film good.
You can see that there was huge amounts of studio meddling in all the Star Wars films, it’s why none of them work as films. The bizarre editing choices and numerous reshoots can be seen everywhere.
This.
I had a fren who was really into SW and was super excited about the movie.
We watched it together in cinema and for me it was meh but he was coping it's just the begging and tried to find positive angles, hoping for example that Kylo can be made into interesting character.
I didn't have heart to shit on it openly when he was around.
I want a Space Cop sequel where Space Cop has to assemble a team of heroes including Rem Lezar, The MacNamera Twins and 14 different versions of Rich Evans in gorilla suits.
Who the frick took this clown seriously anyway? I watched his plinkett review of TPM and it's obvious he doesn't understand what's going on in the movie at various points and the rest is petty nitpicking. It's obvious he had his fancanon destroyed back in 99 and he's such a seething arrogant frick with his head up his ass he'd rather embarass himself pretending he's a better filmmaker than George Lucas than accept the artist direction of the big man.
Tbh I think they have decent opinions of what makes a movie entertaining and what changes could be made to bad movies. Their issue is not only that they think it qualifies them to make movies but also the ego of thinking they should star in their movies and be heavily involved.
Really they would be best suited to being executive producers in a studio giving notes and feedback but not being too close to the films. ai think they could be successful if they tried that but they won't because they have no reason to. I think they'd do a better job than current big studios
The Plinkett reviews show Mike can write a decent joke and he has genuine talent as a voice actor but some of his critiques expose him as a man with no awareness of his limitations and where he actually stands in the industry.
RLM is just a bunch of people shooting the shit and being fanboys. They have awareness on their limitations and who they are. You see that in a bunch of episodes when they joke about Mike not shutting up about SW or the nerd crew or their shitty movies. The problem, as always, is people taking their shit too seriously.
Mike inviting the literal who who made 'people vs george lucas' onto his video where they sit around and make the most ignorant comments literally calling george lucas 'a man with limited intelligence' is someone with an ego that is seriously out of control. I sincerely hope Mike looks back on shit like that with embarrassment.

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm countering the claim that Mike and his team are just humble down to earth guys just chatting about movies when this clearly isn't the case. I've watched their content because lots of people talk about them and I found their supposed insights to be a little misguided and disrespectful to a man far more talented and successful that they are. Mike and rlm aren't my cup of tea so I haven't watched their stuff for a long while, maybe they have matured and learned a little humility in that time. The real question is why do you feel the need to defend them so much?

Nothing in my post defended them at all and you missed my point entirely. I was simply making a point that I find pearl clutching around something they said (Lucas is stupid) to be a moot point coming from this place. No point getting offended on Lucas' behalf. People shit on Lucas or RLM all the time on Cinemaphile. Why get so offended when Mike did it? Who cares what he thinks. That shit gets said all the time.

Because Mike built up an absurd reputation way beyond his actual skill and knowledge as a filmmaker which may have directly influenced a trilogy that turned out to be unbelievable garbage? Itsnnkt about being offended on GLs behalf.

I questioned his position in the industry and I stand by it. Do you really think heavyweight directors consider Mike an equal? Fuxking kek. If he has any influence its because producers and studio execs think about profits and know the average person is stupid enough to listen to those clowns.

You can tell mike/jay/rich can't read coz their vocabulary is shockingly bad.

He's literally me
He's genuinely the funniest guest they have now. The fact Rich has openly on camera told him to stop drinking and he just laughs in the mans face before drinking more is old Mike-tier shit.
Tim's had an amazing arc, honestly. When he was first on RLM, I hated him and felt he was a wasted slot because all he did was repeat what he saw with no commentary or opinion or even really any jokes outside Frickbutt Point, and was too nice to butt into anyone else's riffing.
Fast forward 6 years and he's probably the most hacked fraud of them all and just has no time for the bullshit he has to put up with. I wouldn't be surprised if he shivved Mike at some point.
>Frickbutt Point
That was actually the joke that made me go "Tim's got potential." I think his problem back then was that he was way too timid in those early appearances and didn't "get" the vibe of BotW until he finally gave up and went full alcoholica. He certainly improved better than Jack did. Took me a decade to get used to him.
I think he was in tough position with TFA since they basically did what he said and it sucked, so he'll look moronic either way.
But RLM is worse because it became a 'business' that needs to thread a semi-respectable line so as to not lose monetization and have to fire people, instead of just being some midwestern nerds passion project shit talking movies.
Its hilarious how bad the TFA review was, its like he had built himself up with MUH ABRAMS SAVIOR WHO WILL RETURN STAR WARS TO ITS GLORY!!! and then it comes out and its shit but he just can't bring himself to admit it so he has to go BUT MUH SALES A BUNCH OF IDIOT FANBOYS WENT AND WATCHED IT GUYS YKNOW THE SAME IDIOT FANBOYS I MADE FUN OF IN THE PLINKETT REVIEWS??!!?!
At some point he stopped living in denial and probably whispered to himself in a dark room >I'm sorry George, you were right....right about everything
He then sobs and takes a sip of beer to dull the pain
These parasocial relationships people get with youtubers is fricking bizarre. Why do you care so much if someone liked or hated it or later changed their mind
>tfw disney are still beholden to contracts and made the resistance and first order basically the exact same as what came before but slightly different for the most cynical of reasons rather than trying to actually flesh them out >rather than make an OT star wars attraction they did sequel shit
>haha I tricked you into participating in a conversation about your extremely niche interests with your peers
>no more Plinkett reviews >barely and Half in the Bag episodes >movies they watched condensed into "What We Watched 202x Roundup" >Best of the Worst nothing but shit no one has ever seen, so they can half ass it because they won't be corrected for being wrong >re:View the only good show, but very dependent on the topic >lots of Kyle Garner dick sucking for some reason >Trek discussions limited to TNG only for some reason
All of their review shows are dependent on movies being interesting enough for them to watch them. It’s been grim as far as what’s been released. The do condensed round ups because you can round up every good movie released every year in a very short list and half the time they say they’re only half good.
Maybe they’ve just passed you by and you need to just move on to something else. But something tells me you that you’ll keep watching their videos.
i can't remember but basically shatner called nerd crew gay so i side with him. he did assume they were being serious, but they might as well have been. rlm are not better than nerd crew type guys, at all.
Mike and the rest of rlm Twitter wanted Shatner to come on the show. Shatner said no because he didn't like their content. RLM Twitter tried to cope and tell Shatner he was just watching the ironic nerd crew. Shatner double downed on it and then specifically targeted Mike as a typical nerd podcast tard.
Mike's been seething ever since and even made a video about it even though no one would know outside their hard core fans.
>>Best of the Worst nothing but shit no one has ever seen
Yeah why don't they watch more mainstream movies on their show that's dedicated to obscure weird old bad movies???
I don't watch RLM anymore but he did a good thing in shitting completely on the prequels, which are terrible films, and I cannot summon even a shred of respect for any of the "people" that like them.
TFA was literally his idea, his movie. JJ Abrams remake of ANH exactly like he asked for.
It wasn't just a review, it was admiting he was wrong about Star Wars
No, that's cope. TFA was bad and everyone said "they had to make uninspired remake trash but worse because they had to prove to fans that they weren't doing the prequels again" and copes like that. >oh they're just setting it up.
TFA was incoherent trash. If it has any label other than Star Wars it'd be in the same category as Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets or Jupiter Ascending.
I remember when Disney first bought Star Wars. I was actually happy about it because someone other than Lucas had it and I thought they might be able to salvage it somehow. I went to see TFA in a theater and I swore off Star Wars after that, because I knew with that film it was finally, totally, and irreparably dead. I've never watched another new Star Wars film, TV show, or anything else, and I never will. Also the prequels are still shit and Disney making even worse movies will never change that.
If you've ever even had a Disney+ membership you don't deserve the right to vote or reproduce.
And if it isn't obvious, they've toned down their hateful rhetoric for all movies in an attempt to develop a relationship with studios and publishers for more sweet cash opportunities. I'm sure if you got them off the record they'd call all the sequel movies even worse than the prequels (which, amazingly somehow, they are)
It is a remake of a good movie.
Why can you not accept that he liked the fricking movie? The Pinkett review was mostly fandom crap because TFA, despite its flaws, is fine.
I wasn't familar with JJ when I saw it and even I could see straight through his mystery box bullshit
Pic related was the earliest version of his sequel/prequel plans from December 1975 (it's from a taped interview with Alan Dean Forester who'd write the novelization, hence why George's referring to the sequels as 'books' here)
That's what happens when you have a movie series made by a committee and the only real concern is making money,
Even with a tard like Lucas he at least had an original vision and fortunately there were a bunch of passionate skilled people who ended up helping him build that vision but with the Disney Wars you don't have any of that.
>the only real concern is making money
Objectively not true. That was clearly a secondary concern for most of the people involved.
>you could... kinda.... sorta give it the benefit of the doubt... if you were squinting...
-Jay Bauman
>TFA, despite its flaws, is fine
what mental illness causes this?
The simple truth is, a lot of people liked TFA and only changed their mind via hindsight and now all pretend they always hated it to win pseudo intellectual internet points. The endless cycle of pop culture consumption; hate and love and never experiencing anything else so you can focus on hating something some more.
Cinemaphile hated it when it came out, newbie
>And what proportion of those people aren't just contrarians who hate everything anyway
Doesn't matter, for whatever moronic reason they hated the movie, the fact is they hated it. I don't care about "muh board culture" or whatever shit you wanted to rant about
>the fact is they hated it
Some hated it. Some liked it.
>I don't care about "muh board culture" or whatever shit you wanted to rant about
That wasn't what I was on about at all. Point flew over your head.
>Some hated it. Some liked it.
Yes a sizable-portion like I said. You're admiting I was right all along and you are only arguing with me because you wanted to rant about sheep-posters
I didn't argue with you, you argued with me and got mad declaring that Cinemaphile all hated it:
Now you've backtracked and said only a sizable portion so not "all" then. So you've changed you're positon.
>I didn't argue with you, you argued with me and got mad declaring that Cinemaphile all hated it:
We're arguing right now, and I only got mad because your first reply was a cop-out answer that implied everyone shitting on TFA is a brainless memeposter. That's only 50% of them at most
>Now you've backtracked and said only a sizable portion so not "all" then. So you've changed you're positon.
You have to be autistic to think when someone refers to a collective they literally mean the entirety of it.
>You have to be autistic to think when someone refers to a collective they literally mean the entirety of it.
What a fricking hypocrite you are, you just assumed that:
>implied everyone shitting
You assumed I was referring to everyone when I didn't, I never said everyone. You literally fricking did the same thing you're getting mad at me at IN THE SAME POST. That is hilarious to be honest.
>You assumed I was referring to everyone when I didn't
No I didn't assume that. My original gripe with your post is that it implied that, it doesn't actually say that
You decided I meant something collectively when I didn't. I didn't imply everyone, that is your projection, anon.
You didn't say everyone but you implied everyone. Your first post was a reply towards the TFA shill who was arguing that OP's claims of the movie being bad were entirely baseless
Yes
>but you implied everyone
I didn't at all. You projected that.
>Your first post was a reply towards the TFA shill who was arguing that OP's claims of the movie being bad were entirely baseless
Yeah to specifically say how some people changed their minds on the whole thing retroactively, not everyone. This conversation is pointless now.
Next time don't interject between two people arguing with your dismissive reply then
It wasn't a dismissive reply, it was a comment on the topic of hand, that is all. Geez anon, chill the frick out.
Fine, I forgive you
Most of the other replies are about the movie or Mike specifically
Why didn't you get super autistic with all the other replies if it bothers you that much
So you're mad because you think someone implied something even though you admit it didn't say that?
>to rant about sheep-posters
That is what the whole thread is about, dingus, people changing their minds retroactively, read the OP
Even outside of Cinemaphile, most of the general consensus was "liking it as you first saw it, but then you walk out of the theater and say 'wait a minute.' "
This. The hate was absolutely relentless.
And I remember all the people also making Daisy Walker their waifu and endlessly posting about her.
Ridley* even, I can't be expected to remember her name tho
If you unironically like TFA as a movie you are literally a moron baby. You could had watched A New Hope and gotten more satisfaction. TFA just tried to include a new generation of KIDS to give a frick about a BOOMER's poorly crafted scifi saga that Disney even had no faith in wanting to expand upon because they made all of the EU stuff not canon.
>TFA just tried to include a new generation of KIDS to give a frick about a BOOMER's poorly crafted scifi saga
Star Wars was already a multi-generational thing, kids from the 70s to the 2000s liked it. It should have been a slam dunk for Disney but they royally fricked it up.
spbp
Hi Mike
There’s no way any of them post here
>guy who defended bush's invasion of iraq on a movie forum in 2009 with an avatar of himself wearing a fedora
>not aware of Cinemaphile
come on
>le mauler makes le long video about how reys farts are not narratively consistent therefore TFA was a good movie
Is that really your point
Pretending not to know his name really makes it seem like you aren't mad
No because people still would have watched space cop
I want a Space Cop sequel where Space Cop has to assemble a team of heroes including Rem Lezar, The MacNamera Twins and 14 different versions of Rich Evans in gorilla suits.
The main villain will be two Neil Breens
Oh god that sounds so fricking bad. I hope you fall to your death.
A handful of prequelgays seething on Cinemaphile isn't a decline. The prequels are still shit and redlettermedia is still based.
>space cop vs star wars
This is the exact kind of dunning kruger that is the trademark of rlm
>Mike not shutting up about SW
Star Trek even
Mike inviting the literal who who made 'people vs george lucas' onto his video where they sit around and make the most ignorant comments literally calling george lucas 'a man with limited intelligence' is someone with an ego that is seriously out of control. I sincerely hope Mike looks back on shit like that with embarrassment.
Comments like this are bizzare. You're on fricking Cinemaphile, where everyone insults everyone and no one bats an eyelid. But here you are upset that Mike and some other dude insulted George Lucas? Who gives a frick. Like Lucas or hate him, he made something people enjoy, he sold it and moved on. He isn't perfect. Don't get super offended on his behalf, it makes you sound like an oversensitive homosexual.
Lucas is not stupid, just very far up his arse.
And? Fanboys shit on people all the time
They poster you were replying to was just saying that it's funny a moron like Mike calls anyone stupid.
Don't get mad someone called your daddy dumb.
>Don't get mad someone called your daddy dumb.
That was literally what I was just saying to the other anon so I have no idea why you're saying it to me kek
Because it was obvious you are projecting when that other anon simply pointed out Mike is not a very smart person.
I never commented on that? I don't even like Mike or Rlm. I just think getting mad about fanboy comments is silly.
>Lucas is not stupid
He sold SW to Disney and they ruined it. He is stupid.
Why would he care about some toy franchise?
It's not his problem that manchildren are complaining about the taste of their slop.
Why would he sell something he built to people he knew didn't give a frick about it and then complain they are white slavers? Maybe he should have done something differently.
Yeah but you're still just mad about a literally who. No one outside of this bubble gives a frick about mike, he is a nobody you're building up. All this "directly influence" stuff is so incredibly tenuous at best and just feels weird. Mike is a nobody
Their videos get seen by more people than most Hollywood movies I their entire theatrical run within minutes of being uploaded.
Bizarre claim that even if true doesn't prove anything. They are youtubers who upload content anyone can watch for free from their toilet seat if they really want to.
>cope
You said he had limitation in the industry. What he says has a lot of weight in what happens in the industry. Movies they’ve suggested have been pulled out of a fate of obscurity and movies they’ve made fun of have tanked.
I questioned his position in the industry and I stand by it. Do you really think heavyweight directors consider Mike an equal? Fuxking kek. If he has any influence its because producers and studio execs think about profits and know the average person is stupid enough to listen to those clowns.
POV: You just heard the most kino take of your life.
>says an ordinary/common word
>whoever edits the show thinks it's mind blowing and has to literally put a dictionary definition of the word on screen
You can tell mike/jay/rich can't read coz their vocabulary is shockingly bad.
It's not his fault that all Gen-Xers have mush for brains.
That wouldn't have prevented his early-onset dementia.
>I loved it
>*starts crying*
>it was everything I hoped for
what a gay
Almost everything people hate about the Sequel Trilogy stems from The Force Awakens attempt at returning to the OT's status quo.
>could he have avoided his decline
Nobody can avoid what's coming to them, OP. Nobody.
Are you implying Tim will end up killing Mike to settle a massive gambling debt?
It's not as they say....out of the cards....
Took me a decade to get used to him.
>gets drunker than everyone else around him and has to fight to not pass out or utterly embarrass himself for the rest of the nigh
He's literally me
Frick i love Tim
How will RedLetterMedia end?
Getting demonetized for hate speech and/or copyright infringement
He was never good.
its crazy how he has full on boomer disease still despite 'working' online for decades and having no children.
When they finally get kids they act like they're the greatest parents of all time.
At some point he stopped living in denial and probably whispered to himself in a dark room
>I'm sorry George, you were right....right about everything
He then sobs and takes a sip of beer to dull the pain
The recent BOTW was great, he's still got it. I don't care about their reviews of "real" movies.
They need to revisit the prequels with new eyes
Mike has always had mind blowingly terrible taste. This isn't anything new. This has been a recurring theme since they started doing HitB.
wtf is the obsession with RLM? How is anon allowed to be a filthy contrarian but the Milwaukee underachiever gang isn't? How can you slap?
These parasocial relationships people get with youtubers is fricking bizarre. Why do you care so much if someone liked or hated it or later changed their mind
why do you care so much that I care? do you have a parasocial relationship with my shitposts?
Nah, you have a relationship with shit tho
What decline? rlm is more popular on youtube than ever
People still respond to shitposts so easily
>haha I tricked you into participating in a conversation about your extremely niche interests with your peers
In retrospect, TFA is actually the worst star wars movie. It took our main cast of heroes from Star Wars and turned them all into awful failures.
>tfw disney are still beholden to contracts and made the resistance and first order basically the exact same as what came before but slightly different for the most cynical of reasons rather than trying to actually flesh them out
>rather than make an OT star wars attraction they did sequel shit
You just fell for their clever ruse, anon
how much money did Disney give RLM to stop them from making a Mr. Plinkett Rise of Skywalker video?
>no more Plinkett reviews
>barely and Half in the Bag episodes
>movies they watched condensed into "What We Watched 202x Roundup"
>Best of the Worst nothing but shit no one has ever seen, so they can half ass it because they won't be corrected for being wrong
>re:View the only good show, but very dependent on the topic
>lots of Kyle Garner dick sucking for some reason
>Trek discussions limited to TNG only for some reason
All of their review shows are dependent on movies being interesting enough for them to watch them. It’s been grim as far as what’s been released. The do condensed round ups because you can round up every good movie released every year in a very short list and half the time they say they’re only half good.
Maybe they’ve just passed you by and you need to just move on to something else. But something tells me you that you’ll keep watching their videos.
I dont get his deep hatred for OG Trekm
because he had a little schoolgirl drama with BASED shatner.
How so?
i can't remember but basically shatner called nerd crew gay so i side with him. he did assume they were being serious, but they might as well have been. rlm are not better than nerd crew type guys, at all.
1st remember that captain kirk is Mike's idol
I wish they would go back to making short films and skits.
Their knowledge about movies showed when they made space cop
>b-but it's ironic!
cringe meta joke irony is still cringe
It wasn't though. It wasn't great, but certainly wasn't bad.
>no madame webb review
>no dunc 2 review
DO SOME FRICKING WORK MIKE
he's a fat gen x hack who pretended he was 2smart2makemovies and wasted his life drinking and being snarky with other inbreds
>watch movies i've never seen before and expand my film palate
>watch an old BOTW i've seen seven times already, again
Decisions...decisions...
I don't watch RLM anymore but he did a good thing in shitting completely on the prequels, which are terrible films, and I cannot summon even a shred of respect for any of the "people" that like them.
they were gonna make cringe rick and morty sketches regardless of that thobeit, so no
TFA was literally his idea, his movie. JJ Abrams remake of ANH exactly like he asked for.
It wasn't just a review, it was admiting he was wrong about Star Wars
TFA wasn't terrible, it had a few problems but so did the originals. Everything could have been made right in the sequel.
TLJ was what killed SW.
>TFA wasn't terrible, it had a few problems but so did the originals.
moronic zoomshit take
No, that's cope.
Deep down he knows it's his fault and is in denial about it.
Hi me.
If you've ever even had a Disney+ membership you don't deserve the right to vote or reproduce.
And if it isn't obvious, they've toned down their hateful rhetoric for all movies in an attempt to develop a relationship with studios and publishers for more sweet cash opportunities. I'm sure if you got them off the record they'd call all the sequel movies even worse than the prequels (which, amazingly somehow, they are)
Captcha: PS xD
All he had to ever do was watch and talk about new movies.
Says who? Why is that all he has to do?
His dwindling audience.
Imagine criticizing someone for not selling out and chasing the algorithm.
Where the FRICK DID that BIG EYES b***h get Luke's lightsaber?
WHERE??
I don't actually care about Star Wars I just like when he drinks beer and makes fun of old people or gets autistic about Star Trek
