If you genderswapped dracula then a sexy seductive draculina would make as much sense as the genderswapping moronation allows for. Not so for nosferatu whos got the whole bringer of plague thing going.
As other anons have pointed out if you want to make a movie about a sexy vampire chick just make it camilla instead of genderwapping or - the most unthinkable of ideas: come up with a new character.

Nosferatu is a much more sinister dracula. It is more in tune with old vampire legends where they're disgusting people eating demons. It was the 1950s movies that made vampires sexy.

    Unnecessary and reductive.
Similar to Hellraiser female pinhead. These people think they can just genderswap and racebend every IP and it will make it equally compelling or even more interesting. That’s just not the case.

      Anonymous

      >equally compelling
      >interesting

They don't care about any of that. They don't even care if it makes money, in fact they want it to fail so they can whine even more about the evil straight white men who made it fail. The raceswap and the genderswap are the point. They are ideologically driven to overwrite the past with their own version, and if you're unhappy with that they love that too, because it further reinforces their idea that there is a villain they need to fight.

I was actually fine with the Hellraiser reboot and the choice of a "female" Pinhead. It wasn't the same character Doug Bradley played at all and the whole story felt like a much needed re-imagining of the original story instead of a continuation or a remake.
Like 80% of the original Hallraiser movies are fricking garbage, they really needed a bigger budget version.

Light house wasn't very good either, it had some kino visuals but that's more the cinematographers (Jarin Blaschke) craft than the directors, the writing was all over the place and nothing made sense.

      >But that was the point!

Simply not a good excuse for poor, lazy writing. I think it's far simpler to say the man is just not a good writer/story crafter. The concept of two men stranded on a lighthouse could have touched on an incredible amount of themes: Loneliness, isolation, brotherhood, trust, age, but it ended up focusing on a few aspects of carnal loneliness and that's it. One good 'Hark!' speech from Dafoe couldn't save disjointed and confused writing. And then the very poor attempts to incorporate the cosmological am mythological regarding seaman folklore of killing a Seagull. Just all over the place.

The Northman was definitely his worst. I blame the writing, which was awful.

Don't forget that Northman had a huge budget for an independent film and that came with an according amount of meddling and having to condescend to stupid mass audiences. For instance, they apparently had to redo all the dialogue audio and it was re-edited to shit after audience feedback.
      Also covid disrupted filming.

I still think it was really good and for me was easily better than the Lighthouse, but there was a lot against Northman.

    >Director Robert Eggers‘ Nosferatu has officially wrapped filming in the Czech Republic. The new film, which stars Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe, quietly wrapped filming in Prague on May 19 after a three month shoot.
    >Cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, who lives in Prague, confirmed that the film had been shot in color, with a look reminiscent of 19th century Romanticism.
    >Nosferatu filmed at Prague’s Barrandov Studio alongside locations in the Czech capital and around the country. Production briefly took place at Prague’s historic Invalidovna complex, a Baroque 18th century complex that served as a military hospital for two centuries. The castle in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem was also utilized for filming.

Dafoe is playing a version of Van Helsing with a different name. The 1922 version left out Van Helsing, but Herzog's 1978 version brought Van Helsing back. Now it seems like Eggers has done the same but changed his name (to reflect that all the characters have different names to the Stoker novel).

I trust Eggers with this. He clearly loves Gothic fiction and is great at casting. There were flaws in The Northman that made it a little disappointing to me but it was an excellent cast, no stunt casting, no gimmicks, no unnecessary gender or race-swapping to attract tabloid attention and social media clicks. Just great actors and lots of Scandinavian actors too. The Lighthouse was one of the best two-handers in recent cinema, and the casting and performances (especially Dafoe) were great. Bill Skarsgard is a perfectly creepy actor and I feel that this will be a really interesting adaptation, update and reimagining that will accurately transpose the themes and imagery into 21st century cinema.

OP is a homosexual making things up to try and get attention. It's a shame his parents never loved him and now he has to act like a moron on the internet in a desperate attempt to get people to look at him.

It's always shit to take an old character and gender/race swap them.

Just make something new, for frick sake.

On top of that, Nosferatu is just Dracula but they couldn't get the rights. So it's really fricking dumb for two reasons. Dracula is public domain now, just make it Dracula instead.

I hate how creatively bankrupt all of the creative industries are these days.

I would prefer they would make something new, but even if they have to retell this story for the 700th time, why not just go for the actual story?

moron. That shouldn't have been hard for you to work out.

But Nosferatu is a good story, the 70's remake was excellent. Why not remake it again rather than the 300th remake of Dracula?

It's genuinely just Dracula with different character names.

Real estate agent goes to transylvania to make a deal with a wealthy count who turns out to be a vampire and makes his way to the real estate agents home country in a coffin with his home soil but eventually dies anyway and the day is saved.

There are minor differences but it's the same story.
