Your pic is correct. I think the artists cat is afraid of them as I've only had semi ferals with that petting zone as the artists comic. If a cat doesn't trust you they won't let you touch their head or back end as the first feels too vulnerable and the end catches them by surprise. Cats that trust their owners generally follow the pattern you've colored out.

Depends. My childhood dog had his nails clipped too closely by the groomer when he was young, and while he'd tolerate pretty much anything, touching his feet would make him growl. My mom's chihuahua, though, I don't think there was a single thing which would upset him, probably the most docile dog I've ever seen (once he knew you).
