Nah, it's definitely different than Argento's movie, and I kind of agree with him that it should have been it's own thing, but it isn't bad. It's very visually striking while being distinct from Argento's style (and I agree, it's not iconic like the original). The storytelling is much better than the original, and it does a good job of tying the original story to those of Inferno and The Mother of Tears. I feel like it's good supplemental material for the original trilogy.
I liked the uncannyness of Swinton playing multiple characters too.
Yeah I see the main difference between the two as, if you enjoy atmosphere you’ll prefer the first one, and if you prefer plot/lore you’ll like the second one more.

I didn't even realize Tilda played the professor until I got home after the movie. The ending really stuck with me too, not just the sabbath but after when Susie absolves the prof of his feelings of guilt. The troony dancer was distracting as frick in every scene though.

i found it disappointing to find out the dr isn't actually madame blanc in a magic disguise
I remember some sperg getting super pissed at Jay from RLM because he said the ending with the heads exploding looked awful and the effects or filter put on it might have been done because they ran out of money. Said it was "the dumbest take Jay ever had"
I realized I never got around to watching pic related when I saw this thread, 30 minutes in and this is genuinely unwatchable. I hope Udo Kier's scenes will salvage it a little but I don't expect much.
is that Mia Гot?
Mиa Гoт as Capa in Cycпиpия 2018
What is this? i wish she would use my tongue as toilet paper btw
I love her so much bros
How is Pearl?
best (new) movie i watched in years
she's truly good
she was so fricking cute in this movie. i actually felt really bad for her when she broke a bone in her leg and was just terrified.
They both looked great but damn did the filmmakers drop the ball on everything else compared to the ‘77 movie.
honestly thought they did a good job and i see them as completely separate things. the new one actually has a plot which is nice

Yeah, no lie about the troony. The ending was pretty satisfying overall, which I really didn't expect.

I think they did it for aesthetic reasons but it still looks ridiculous
Yeah, agreed. Looks like absolute shit like an effect they’d use on a cheap 80s flick
For me it’s
better sarah compared to mia
Her in x tho

I only remember that some of the death scenes were really good.
I’ve heard nobody, and I mean nobody, talk good about this movie. Critics hate it and Argento fans simply pretend it doesn’t exist
>I hope Udo Kier's scenes will salvage it a little
Welp, he's dead, all hope is lost.
At some point Argento fell off hard. Have you seen his version of Dracula? Whew lad.
He created a movie called Giallo starring Adrien Brody after making at least a dozen of them. Bit on the nose you think?
