Really want to see how they improve upon the first. I feel like they've got a high bar to jump after AC6, but more than anything I want them to get an actual writer in.
replayed it before ac6 release. it's very fun with nice customization after you unlock some parts even if this could take a while. not a fan of grinding for 3 slots and mods, would rather a more direct turning system. wish there was a trade off on borging up instead of it being pure upgrade as I like being human
The more you play the more you see how little budget they had to work with.
Like every male character has exact same body model and costume, just with different colors. Same for female characters.
Environment veriety isn't exaclty great either.
I wonder if DXM2 will just ditch the human aspect and go full AC with talking emblems/mechs.
The on foot missions were easily the worst part of the game after it being a fricking grindfest sometimes. Forget the on foot stuff and stick the player in the mech the entire time. Focus those resources on expanding the customization.
That's something that definitely bugged me. It works in Ace Combat because the action sequences are spaced out enough to let everyone say their piece, but too many times in DxM I had a whole dialogue sequence cut off because the characters kept prattling on and on as I'm focusing more on survival. I'd finish the mission objective while everyone is STILL talking and miss entire huge chunks of dialogue I'd have to go look up later.
It's actually kinda frustrating in Ace Combat to gradually realize that, maybe it started in 3 but definitely from 04 onward, you can tell the game is timed to a script.
Everyone gets their say because everything is meticulously timed and event flagged like a TV program... which, yeah, it's Ace Combat of course it's gonna anime all over the place like that, but have you ever seen what it's like to empty out B7R during Mayhem? Watching the game struggle to keep up a long dispelled illusion of a neverending furball by spawning in a bogey every so often as if there's other targets to distract you from this? Really kills the moment in what is otherwise the definitive moment in that AC.
better than those 3v1s at the end of DxM where you get everyone down to 10% health but they can't die because they haven't said their shitty AI generated dialouge, like just shut the frick up and die already
>Is there a sequel confirmed?
Yes, just announced a few months ago.
Actually, the sequel was confirmed as far back as nearly two years ago with an announcement during an anniversary stream that preproduction had begun.
The actual announcement trailer and confirmation of a proper name (Titanic Scion), that was a few months ago, but the existence of the project? To put things into perspective, the existence of a sequel was confirmed before even the first Armored Core 6 leaks rolled out.
>yours and my own personal utilization of this mechanic is reflective of its objective quality
Not how it works
NG++'ed it btw, so I'm not saying this like I dropped it in the first hour or something, but the game has serious problems even in PvE
the PvP balancing is another matter entirely
it can be rebalanced but stagger seems to be a fundamental problem with the design of the game
actually nvm, it's not as bad as Ricochet, it'd just be harder to remove
I really hope DxM's sequel expands on the customization options. A lot of the Arsenal designs kind of bled together unless you were using one of the DLC skins or the parts that were based on boss units.
I do appreciate a number of DxM's designs more. The absolutely butt ugly Ephemera set does not fit together with anything. Nothing in DxM can't be made or painted to work with each other because it has a more consistent design language.
Was I the only one who refused to 'upgrade' my pilot given the process involved amputating body parts until you were reduced to your brain and spinal column?
Something about that is unsettling even if your real life organic body is completely flawed and a mess.
No, I refused to use upgrades as well. Honestly figured given the turns the plot was taking relying on machine augmentation would have consequences. As far as I am aware, nothing comes of it.
>acid guns are busted >make mech bee themed >shitting poison all over until it finally stopped working against the final boss
The game was fun, soundtrack was good, the plot was fricking stupid though. Loved the arc of your rival going from arrogant bastard into a begrudgingly humble ally.
AC6 is out. There's room for both, but it's time to stop coping and accept DxM was just a shitty game that reminded you of the times you played better games.
Don't you have an entire general thread to go be a homosexual in, or did they finally run out the 4skins like they should've when emulation became barely tolerable for PS360.
It's fun. Can't wait for the sequel.
I can't wait too
My bro.
Really want to see how they improve upon the first. I feel like they've got a high bar to jump after AC6, but more than anything I want them to get an actual writer in.
Same.

i hope they do, i hated pilot only missions
The on foot missions were easily the worst part of the game after it being a fricking grindfest sometimes. Forget the on foot stuff and stick the player in the mech the entire time. Focus those resources on expanding the customization.
Nah
Clearly the other anon was insinuating there's only two body types: Sif, and everyone else.
>gem
Frick off sharty tourist.
Hope they get a bigger budget next time, AC6 success must have convinced investors that these games make bank.
I tried to like it but the story is just so fricking cringe
The story that they drop on you in huge plot dumps while you're trying to NOT GET SHOT DOWN?

Don't talk to me like you've experienced 20 minute long scripted missions in real time and think they're any better.

My inner-mecha nerd is crying MANLY TEARS
I really wanted to like it. But something just didn't click for me.
Is there a sequel confirmed? I hope its better.

At least it didn't have stagger
git gud
stagger is literally game journalist mode

DxM is superior to me for that reason alone. Theyre comparable in the sense that it is AC lite vs AC lite.
It's like a Shonen version of Armored Core. That's not criticism, btw, it's just a different flavor.
i unironically hope they'll try to copy AC6 in terms of everything
Even making the game revolve around build stuns?
Why would they, AC6 is a pale imitation of DXM down to the shitty high concept scifi storyline.
Wasn't Daemon X Machina just following Armored Core's footsteps though?
Don't respond to bait.
Ok but you can surely suck my dick
present it
It was really bad to the point where I don't think the devs have any idea how to fix it in a sequel but if they did that would be cool.
Radiant Gleam should've been in Smash Bros
I really hope DxM's sequel expands on the customization options. A lot of the Arsenal designs kind of bled together unless you were using one of the DLC skins or the parts that were based on boss units.
Nah.
>HAL legs
>Tool Arms
>Mind Alpha core

I hate how everyone is super cryptic about everything up until dumping literally all the relevant information in you in the last three missions
If Kawamori designed the mechs in the game, why are they so boring?
They aren't
>Raging BVLL
kawamori didn't design everything

>it was ancient astronauts all along
Now there's a meme I've not seen in a long time.
I enjoyed it, though I wasn't very good at it.

>sword covering up the head
I hate cel-shading so much.
Is there a mod to remove it?
I'd rather have PS2 graphics from AC3 than this.
Come to think of it DXM designs do feel like spiritual successors to AC2 and 3 ones.
