Imagine being so much of a pussy that you don't even have the courage to tell your own flesh and blood that you are his biological father. It hits you so hard that you weep and cry about it almost everyday watching your child be raised by another man who's doing a better job at being your kid's father.
We've seen Dale literally fall to pieces because he lost his fricking gun license. If he ever found out about Nancy cheating and Joseph not being his real son, he would fall into a basically comatose depression and become eighty times worse than Bill.
Ide rather Nancy just can't live with the guilt and offs herself. Dale never finds out officially but learns in a way but makes it clear that Joseph is still his son and nothing will change that. John Redcorn try to get close and he gives up when he sees Dale, while having his flaws, would always be a better father than he ever could be and he leaves. But not before telling Dale all of this and saying sorry and he will work his life to make up for his mistakes. It was Nancy who never let him open up and it always ate him up inside. But he still leaves and Dale and Joseph have to learn how to get by as a single father and son.
