People tend to gravitate to what they enjoy. Cartoons and comics are in a bad state right now, so most discussion is just a painful exercise in frustration (alongside fanboys that will defend nearly anything animated). At this point, lewdposting is the only thing that brings most of the board together (aside from this new wave of “hello fellow cartoon/comic fan, stop enjoying sexy 2D babes on your cartoon/comic board, thanks!” losers). You don’t have to like Korra the show to lewd Korra the character (or Star Butterfly, or Pearl from SU, etc etc.) so it brings people together. This isn’t a Cinemaphile issue, it’s an industry issue (just look at the Samurai Jack threads if you don’t believe me.
Now, Cinemaphile could be better at focusing on the positives and less negativity, but I honestly don’t blame them. Anyway, we need more funposting and looser moderation, not stricter. /mlp/ manages to be an OC generation machine and actually have fun with their subject, and it doesn’t come from clamping down on anyone.

I don't think there's any cure to that problem because some people are just going to be like that naturally. But I think a way to manage that problem is that we do not normalize indecency, which unfortunately we already have.
What I mean by that is that people seem to think that a picture of Raven with her ass sticking out is somehow vastly different from a picture if she's taking a dick in that ass. And the fact is for the purposes of modesty there is no difference and you shouldn't be looking at the only-ass picture in public much in the same way you wouldn't be reading a swimsuit magazine in public just like you wouldn't be reading a porno mag in public. And unfortunately we're in this place where some guy can just be watching their big titty no-sex no-nipples anime shit with full volume on in public and there's no way to shame them off the street. I don't think there's any cure to that problem because some people are just going to be like that naturally. But I think a way to manage that problem is that we do not normalize indecency, which unfortunately we already have.
