Fricking eva. Ever since eva every anime always has to try to be “deep” and “psychological” but just comes off as cliched and cringe. Half this show felt like it was trying too hard to be like eva.
It was meant to have been a reunion between the company’s that were involved with EVA so the similarities are no coincidence, Khara backed out after pre-production however and trigger left mid season, never have I witness a potential series fall apart like this in real time
That'd explain the massive drop in quality when you get halfway through, I always felt like something happened which caused things to change so vastly. It's a shame because I really enjoyed Kill-La-Kill and Trigger did some fricking cool fights in Franxx, and the mech designs were great too.
More mecha fights, The plot twist with the aliens is non existent, 01 is introduced much earlier and is clearly an antagonist, the connections between the main characters being referenced to the red and blue oni’s is known by the main cast and revealed a bit earlier iirc, not as much of a teenage melodrama as in the main series, completely different climax, biggest change Is hiro and 02’s survival and marriage

So it was just Trigger's usual tomfrickery with randomly putting aliens in the story and then killing off Hiro and 02 at the ending? Why tho?

Trigger didn’t do that, that was A1’s fault, trigger already left.

But this is not a Trigger show ?

It was a collaborative project between the studios that split off from Gainax to create a spiritual successor to Evangelion, again khara backed out and trigger called it quits right after the first half of the show due to creative disagreements leaving A1 all to themselves

I felt like they really fricked that up in the anime. Felt like it came out of nowhere. If the manga introduced it early on I might have to check it out.

I didn't realize Franxx had a manga, thought it was a new IP from Trigger and the other EVA studios. I'm hoping the ending was different or further elaborated on rather than just dropping off because the ending is Franxx's worst part.

> Why do japs always trying to put some twist on their endings?
Because in Asian writing the twist replaces the climax in importance. I forget what it is called but they uses this style of writing instead of the hero’s journey.
>Because in Asian writing the twist replaces the climax in importance. I forget what it is called but they uses this style of writing instead of the hero’s journey.
that doesnt sound right. Heros journey is just a cycle of improvement and struggle. There are some finer details but that is essentially it.
Usually a twist just redefines things. Or puts another call to action around the atonement and return. It only jumbles up the last few parts, not replacing them.
Well apparently with what the Japanese use as a replacement the focus is always put on the twist and is the most important part of the story over there.
This show was fricking great, made me feel like I was back in the 90s with its wonky risks. It had one of the greatest off the rails turns of all time and a kino nonsensical ending. You just don’t see that in mecha anime anymore, everything is so fricking safe it’s depressing. Franxx Greco and Flamenco were the three best /m/ shows of the past decade and it’s not even close.
Franxx was fantastic during airing because of the shitposting and constant twists, but you can't watch it now because it's just you watching a strange show by yourself.
Honestly one of the reasons why I stayed with the anime for so long was because of those threads. They were fun, until I left around episode 15-16 because I got tired of the anime. I still have my folder of everything I saved around that time and thinking I should just delete it.
The fact there is no Genista merch at all.
>The fact there is no Genista merch at all.
shame we will never get hefty diecast mechs from this series because it tanked so bad after the ending. Never going to get a transforming version of the main bot either
It's a fricking travesty. I might even be willing to get one of those shitty robot damashii if there was one of her.
Ideally some sort of model kit would be perfect, a transforming kit would be even better.
>It's a fricking travesty. I might even be willing to get one of those shitty robot damashii if there was one of her. >Ideally some sort of model kit would be perfect, a transforming kit would be even better.
I think there is a model of the main bot on bigbadtoystore for about 35 to 40. You'd have to kit bash the shit out of it to get the other fem mechs or the lion or a transforming one.
You talking about the Moderoid Strelitzia? I do have one when they first released it just chucked it into my backlog pile. >You'd have to kit bash the shit out of it to get the other fem mechs
Considering they've rereleased her, for the third time now according to big bad, I might actually give that a shot.
Although sadly the one I want to do the most, Genista, seems like she would be the most pain in the ass. Her coat especially will suck not only to make and look good, but cover up most of her. I guess I would do pic related so that won't be too bad.
I'd like to also try the "standard FRANXX" since I think they looked nice considering they're a mass produced of FRANXX.
wrong, you can't excuse a show's flaws just because of the posting atmosphere of the time. I got suckered into watching franx the whole way through because of the hype and I regret it.

Don't trust tards here parroting theories they heard from other random anons about studio bullshit, nobody outside japan really knows what when on, especially when they're triggertards desperate to defend their glorious studio's honor.
show peaked with the flashback episode where he helps her escape and then later they cum as they kill a bunch of klaxx together. It fell apart after that and never came back together nor did it land the ending. The ending was just fricking horrible honestly. The giant space mech at the end was the only cool thing in the last few episode. Everything else was just horrible.
>should have done a separation arc like in the storybook
oh dont get me started about the story book. They referenced so many old fables to make that book. Beauty and the beast being the mot obvious. But also things like Otohime, the white snake woman, Urusei Yatsura, Tenchi, etc.
Then nothing. Did absolutely nothing with the references. No pay off. Not even the more obvious things /m/ users were guessing at. Just a meh "lol, guess they died" and "dracula isnt really dead, lmao" crap.
looking at this, this design actually makes a lot of sense. Ideally most of the weight would be in the legs for stability. The top head would mostly be for weapons aiming and the head would just be a sensory array. wienerpit would probably be in the crotch behind that skirt plate.
the top half being skinny makes sense. It would be more stable without a bunch of weight up past the waist.
The manga is a lot better like by a massive margin but it's still stuck with a weak base, if the anime is trash then the manga is fine to good with great art.
>It's jappa propaganda after abe and his pappy destroyed the economy
it probably would have been better as abe propaganda to shun nerds into having kids. If it was, the the two main characters wouldnt have died before having little only klax babies.
Nice trip but literally everyone makes kids in the show with the MCs, the only one who doesn't is a lesbian who dies of space AIDs and gets a pity gf who has a pairing as bullshit as Voltron LD credit scene. and both MC are reborn as brats too and lovers who will make more brats.
The show as a whole, including in all it's design, is telling you to have sex. I'm surprised there was no official governement links with it.
The ending got rushed but there is an implication that new life will come.

>The ending got rushed but there is an implication that new life will come.
that looks kind of noncommittal. Like maybe they were not allowed by the property owner to boldly contradict the show ending.
"maybe they had klaxx babies, maybe they didnt. Who is to say. Now look at this baby tree"
the problem with shows like Franxx is that the people helping to design the world are better and more creative than the people writing the main plot. This used to happen a lot with Star Wars.
The klaxx and the mecha based on the klaxx are infinitely more interesting than the humans. Im sure the main writers didnt understand that or care, and just wanted to copy the profound ending of something from the 90s without killing off the chance of a sequel by killing all the humans in something like final Fantasy 7 or EVA, they just killed off all the klaxx to send a similiar message of "everything dies, even species. But life goes on in some way"
The problem is that the viewers are more invested in the klaxx and the two half klaxx half human pilots that have inherited their legacy than the humans.
I guess they were hoping they could still kill them off like FF7 did and fans would still buy lots of product. I guess they didnt realize that ff7 retconned that ending and many players never realized that was the message of the og ending. Nor did they realize that reincarnation isnt a deep romantic ending to Americans, Europeans and Japanese people under 30 who do not believe in reincarnation.
An ending no one asked for. Why do japs always trying to put some twist on their endings? It just makes things worse

Interesting enough, it’s said that the manga adaptation is what the story was originally intended to be about
what were the differences in the manga?

And there are breasts.
So you started to watch anime after 1995 and you think that Eva was the first anime to do that.
A man of culture you are.
Obviously Eva wasn't the first anime to be pretentious garbage, but it did mark the point where all anime turned into pretentious garbage.
> Why do japs always trying to put some twist on their endings?

Report template posters.
said the guy using the "report x posters" template
Everything, now return to hell, Abe's ghost
Everything except the character and mech designs, whoever decided "lets remake De:vadasy with Star Driver mechs" is a fricking moron.
Its not a mystery, they've literally admitted they didn't write anything past episode 15 and winged it after that point.
Not mecha.

anon, no one cares about those two kids. Reincarnation isnt real. Theyre dead.
02 is dead, the klaxx queen is dead. All the klaxx are dead. the ending sucked and didnt make me want to have kids
They live in the manga, it's surprising how well the To Love Ru guy is at drawing mecha.

do they repopulate the klaxx and save the world, proving the klaxx queen right in entrusting them with her power?
otherwise it is also trash

booba
It set up a bunch of intrigue and themes and shit, then the answer to literally all of it turned out to just be evil aliens.
No one expect the anti hetero inquisition
State-enforced homosexuality.
i couldnt have given a less of a shit about their marriage. The nines could have ran a train on her for all I care
No homosexual but I would fug the 9s
Doomers need to frick off from /m/ forever. Nobody likes you or wants you here.
I remember ADORING the designs way back when the show came out. It fell off so hard tho man, can't have shit
The real answer is shifting focus off of Hiro and 02 especially when they both still had more story to tell.
It tried to take itself seriously. It should've just stayed a simple MotW mecha show with sex euphemisms.
>It tried to take itself seriously. It should've just stayed a simple MotW mecha show with sex euphemisms.
nothing wrong with a motw taking itself seriously.
The slow build of Gaogaigar is why it became the most popular Brave show. Show was bonkers by the end
It was a shitty plot tacked onto a concept much better used in Nagano's Five Star Stories.
It's unironically one of my favorite animes
I would partially understand if you said the manga. But I can't with the anime. It fell off so hard in the 2nd half.
>I would partially understand if you said the manga. But I can't with the anime. It fell off so hard in the 2nd half.
Not that guy but episode 13 was pretty strong. I would have watched 1.5 hour long movie of that premise.
but yeah, it was all downhill after they defeated that army by cumming together and turning gold. 16 forward was just bad
