>David Fincher is as meticulous in his filmmaking craft here as his main character is in his professional craft. A film, so thoroughly thought out and taken care of, I can’t help but marvel in its execution and attention to detail. Perhaps Finchers most meditative piece. In familiar form, yet slightly more reserved and introspective, Fincher delivers in his dark and gritty tendencies while carefully constructing a gripping character study, tackling the addictive nature of a personal vendetta as well as the mental sanity and emotional control needed to remain successful (and alive) in this line of work. A constant heartbeat within the sound design, the hauntingly calm narration from a man who will so easy take a life, and the unpredictable and tense nature of this subject matter make for a very effective and nerve-racking experience.

I have. Utter onions r/atheist slop. The premise is good though and obviously appealed to Fincher. I doubt it'll be anything like it. beyond general details.

In the comic he is a student that got bored from university and turned into a hit man that mainly operates in Paris and has a house in bumfrick nowhere Venezuela. He is a turboautist that solely does the killings for the money and nothing else. Like he is literally obsessed with money.

the comic is chapter after chapter of him monologuing to himself about how humanity is terrible and nothing matters and how professional he is. I get that the point is his worldview slowly changes and he begins to develop more of a soul, but it's extremely repetitive and I dropped it about halfway through. I'm imagining Fincher will only be adapting the first part of the story.

It's getting a theatrical release and being released in 2 days. I want to take the chance but paying theater prices for Netflixslop (even with Fasskino in it) is too much.

How poor are you that you can't treat yourself to a $12 movie ticket.

        >LOL PLEB YOU DONT HAVE MONEY TO WASTE ON israeliteWOOD SLOP AT THE READY?? LOLOLOL
It's not about being poor, it's that I barely see movies and have only watched Avatar 2 and the latest MI in about 2 years. Nothing else. I'm picky but this is Fassbender's return to kino so that's why i'm thinking of seeing it.

That kind of movie has to be watched at the cinema. I didn't care about the plot or characters, the visuals and the otherworldly experience was more than worth the price.

sorry I don't feel like consuming every single slop coming out. I've watched about 10 movies in the past 7 years. No Marvel slop or DC slop of course.

On one hand, that is one of the few movies that is only worth it if you see it in theaters. On the other hand, I was fricking hammered and barely remember any of the story, which is understandable, but I don't remember any striking visuals either. Not like the first one.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago. The opening sets up the story really well and while the rest of it is enjoyable to watch it doesn't really elevate past its basic premise. The plot is basically Taken/John Wick. Fun movie though.

            >I dont like her, i feel like i see her and the movie is gonna start being pretentious
she's not in it a lot but the film is pretty pretentious (or at least tries to be). there are plenty of internal monologues of fassbender repeat his life's motto (like "don't show empathy"). he's also always listening to the smiths but the music isn't matched up to some action set piece, he instead plays it when he's doing mundane shit like driving a white van around.

From what I've seen in the trailer this is the closest by far we've ever had to an on screen 47 tone wise. He's weaponized autism. It's not a total balls to the wall shoot 'em up.

Holy frick I can't believe this thread ruined all of the hype I had built up during the past year. I didn't know it was a netflix movie. So disappointing.

yeah its hugely disappointing. the weird thing about this film is that it feels like it WASN'T directed by david fincher. its completely lacking in his signature style. if you watched this without knowing it was a fincher film, you would think netflix just got one of their studio yes-men to do it.

It's probably the price he had to pay to make Mank, which was shit but was his dream project.

maybe. my view after seeing was that this film was collateral from all the covid lockdowns in 2021 and 2022. there are many scenes in the film where there are just a handful of actors (usually only 2-3) on screen. this definitely had an impact as a viewer watching this (made the film less believable because of how the empty the world is) but im sure it also had an impact on the production quality as well.

To be fair Netflix pretty much copied his style, almost all of their action/edgy shows look like a fincher rip off
