What they never considered is that these ideas they so desperately use to fill the void of personality aren't receptive to everybody, even less so in a male dominated hobby, so it's caused a crash and burn effect. Manga dominates because it writes for audiences: this book is for kids, this book is for boys, this book is for men, this book is for women, this book is horror, this book is fantasy, etc. Comics don't do this: everybook is for everyone and everyone will like it, both young and old, and the genre is.. horror and fantasy and sci-fi and mystery :^) And yes this story is very similar to one you already read, but it's mandated that we can't allow any growth to occur.

What went wrong? Well, individuals who lacked an identity or conviction got put into positions of power within the DC Comics hierarchy and instead of trying to tell meaningful or relatable stories that resonated with readers, they decided it would be best to push the identity politics they subscribe to into everything they do.
What they never considered is that these ideas they so desperately use to fill the void of personality aren't receptive to everybody, even less so in a male dominated hobby, so it's caused a crash and burn effect. Manga dominates because it writes for audiences: this book is for kids, this book is for boys, this book is for men, this book is for women, this book is horror, this book is fantasy, etc. Comics don't do this: everybook is for everyone and everyone will like it, both young and old, and the genre is.. horror and fantasy and sci-fi and mystery :^) And yes this story is very similar to one you already read, but it's mandated that we can't allow any growth to occur.

blindness and deafness are status conditions, disabilities, they cause an actual in-game disadvantage. If I had a player who wanted to play a blind character, but with magic glasses that game them darkvision, tremorsense, a 13 inch dong, and optic blasts, I'd tell them to get the frick out of my house.

You can have disabled characters being interesting or badass in other ways, but pretending they fit well in a physical context. fighting using their wheelchairs and stuff, just feels like empty pandering.
You can have characters who are disabled go into a mechanical body and having them control the thing, but using a wheelchair to fight is just... not very cool.
It's not necessarily that it becomes unprofitable, but that there's a shift of focus to the more casual community. Things become simplified and generic to accommodate newcomers who are into meme culture and whatnot.
So it becomes boring to the hobbyists that dedicated time and effort to learn it.
