Don't care for absolutes unless the run and art is spectacular and benefits from the large format and don't care for reprints of comics this old unless the colouring is true to the original.
That said, maybe
Not for just the first issue, but I'd buy the frick out of an omni of the first 16. That's how far you have to go to not have any incomplete serial stories.
I’m sure you know but DC was going to release a “Detective Comics Before Batman” omnibus a couple of years ago, collecting the first 26 issues but then they cancelled it. Let’s be honest, issues 2 to 26 are pretty insignificant. Which is why I am proposing this “bells and whistles” edition of issue one only.
It's weird how they announce these things and then go back and look at it and realize "Wait, this is racist, we can't publish this!" same as the Monster Society of Evil book they were going to do. Like, why don't they look at a comic before they announce this shit?
The racist Caricatures weren’t really a factor at most they would’ve just put a “It Was Wrong Then but in interest of the history of the comic and character we think it’s important to put out” kinda statement. It more had to do with interest and pre sales and the collection department generally being awful
A "Best of" would probably work, since Crimson Avenger and Slam Bradley are still somewhat relevant. 'Spy' also has better artwork by Joe Shuster than he was doing in Superman. Slam's foe Fui-Onyui was one of DC's first recurring villains.
Put in a disclaimer, and it would probably sell no worse than DC's other GA collections.
I would prefer to see collections of some of the early series in Detective, Slam Bradley especially but also Bart Regan and Crimson Avenger. This issue has already been reprinted by itself so we don't need it again.
A collection featuring those along with other pre-Action #1 series like Dr. Occult, Sandra of the Secret Service and Federal Men would be cool. "DC: The Platinum Age".
DC have solicited a bunch of different collections that include the early Detective Comics issues over the years but they always get cold feet and cancel them at the last minute. Same with The Monster Society of Evil.
Maybe.
Yes.

I’d be more interested in an Action Comics, All American Comics and Flash Comics one
depends, what bullshit will it offer?

Its less that and more the lack of interest.

Of course, I loved Minoriteam.
Would rather Absolute Monster Society of Evil
If only.
That would be pretty great.

Yes, 20 years ago...
