DC had an entire line of "Batman, canon, but in the past" books like Long Halloween, Monster Men, Mad Monk, Man Who Laughs, etc.

DC had an entire line of "Batman, canon, but in the past" books like Long Halloween, Monster Men, Mad Monk, Man Who Laughs, etc.
Now they have the World's Finest books by Mark Waid. Why don't Marvel and DC do this more often instead of creating an entire different universe?

They realized the current canon is pure shit so this is there way to use the good iconic versions of the character without retconning/admitting fault.

I know the current Batman run is trash but is the Superman run any better?

      >entire line
None of those are from a specific singular line. Learn what words mean.

No, both action comics and Superman have been dogshit since bendis’ arrival after AC1000. Tom Taylor, PKJ, Williamson, all terrible.

        I figured as much.

Now just imagine how bad a "World's Finest" would be under the current canon. Batman with no money and Superman...Okay I don't know what Superman is doing but I doubt the fortress of Solitude is cool anymore.

Well, the thread is going to be filled with Jon autists so you're unlikely to get a real answer.
Superman is about Lex Luthor being Hannibal Lector and it has fun campy stuff like Jimmy dating a supervillain.
Action Comics was basically Planet Hulk but for Superman (which I personally liked) and it kind of lost steam after that arc.

Jon's five minutes of fame are over....Maybe Frank Miller was right and Supes should have fricked Wonder Woman instead.

        >O-o-o-only Jon fans didn’t like Jonhnson’s run!!
You sound like PKJ or Paul Kaminski themselves. Maybe he’s just awful. I’m sure hiring the butthole who ruined Thor and then She-Hulk and then Punisher purely out of spite will totally turn it around!!

That anon is just a homosexual in love with PKJ.

He can’t stop shilling for him everytime his run comes up and calls anyone that hates the run a jongay.

Conversely it feels like you’re a gay who is in love with PKJ. You can’t stop obsessing over him in every thread, I recognize your brand of autism. Sorry DC isn’t pandering to pedos anymore like they did during Rebirth, now frick off and find some other kid to fixate on.

        >Well, the thread is going to be filled with Jon autists
Gotta be the most annoying fanbase around. Tomasi and Jurgens were awful writers but because there was a hecking kiderino for childless losers to obsess over, that created an extremely autistic fanbase. Glad they made Jon a gay, now he and his fanbase have something in common, just wished they’d frick off at this point.

They do it pretty often. Marvel basically has non-stip minis about past adventures for the last 3-4 years. And World's Finest train isn't stopping any time soon.

That's more or less what Didio's 5G was supposed to be. The idea was that DC would still regularly publish books set in earlier "generations" even though the "current" timeline was some weirdo scifi shit where all the characters were replaced with OCs.

Which is moronic. Just as moronic as the normies and casuals who claim a full reboot would help.

They can do that type of alt shit digitally and in graphic novels and mini series. Ongoing readers (read: paying customers) want meat and potatoes, simple mostly cis, gender conforming, good vs evil cape shit set in a firm continuity mostly removed from any mentions of the new 52 or Bendis/Taylor/King shit.

I stopped reading modern DC comics completely so I'm out of the loop.

Does this book NOT have all of the fricking moronic super family, bat family, etc bullshit?

It’s got it all in small doses but mostly just about the titular duo doing superhero shit.

Only bad issues are the ones drawn by gayface artist Travis Moore because he can’t help himself but draw everything super gay (as in Batman gazing into Superman’s eyes while Superman holds him in his arms level of gay.. I mean that literally)

    Hear me out,
What if we write and rough sketch a prenew52 jla story together? For closure? What's the JLA story that never got written, the one that fits but doesn't exist yet? Always felt like the ideal JLA story was right around the corner before new52 hit

Earth 3 Starro infects New York and everybody claims to have free will but great sense of community. People removed of their starfish are traumatized or put in a coma. Big ethical debate, meanwhile earth 1 Starro is attacking earth 3, and the CSA is redoing the JLa origin story. Starros fight at some point. Am I ripping off something?

Marvel is putting out nostalgia minis all the time. DC is reliant on Batman to keep them afloat which is why he gets so many minis. They have done a couple with Superman however, but who else would that kind of thing even be appealing for? There’s the Fab Five Titans currently I guess.
