Director Matthew Vaughn and producer James Gunn are eyeing actors in the 20s/30s age range for the main roles of Jenny Sparks, Jack Hawksmoor, Apollo, Midnighter, the Engineer, the Doctor, Henry Bendix and Kaizen Gamorra.
Their top choices for the cast so far are Jodie Comer as Jenny Sparks, Ariana DeBose as the Engineer, Lee Pace as Jack Hawksmoor and Ken Watanabe as Kaizen Gamorra. These actors will receive offers without the need to audition.
Actors eyed for test for Apollo include Jacob Elordi, Nicholas Galitzine and Harris Dickinson. For Midnighter, the candidates include Dacre Montgomery, Colin Woodell, Charles Melton and Josh O'Connor. Cameron Monaghan, George MacKay and Jeremy Allen White have been mentioned for the Doctor, and the likes of Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Mads Mikkelsen have been discussed for Henry Bendix.
The plan is to release the movie on summer 2026.
>people complain about the DCEU being too dark and violent and nihilistic.
>adapt the authority, one of the original dark violent and nihilistic superhero comics books
>????
>Bomb catastrophically.
the problem was that every movie in the dceu was too dark before they tried to course correct

Didn't this already get shot down?
This. It was also weird because they tried to make characters like Superman and Wonder Woman super dark and it just didn't work. The Authority could work as a darker, more grounded thing that involved a lot of global realpolitik.
Also they don't have to go super dark with it ither.
The Authority being dark and nihilistic makes sense. Doing it to Apollo means they don't need to do it to Superman.
It's going to be canon to the same universe as the new Superman movie. Which is a huge mistake. Nihilistic shit like the authority can't coexist with a properly written good heroic superman. Not without ruining one, the other or both.
The authority isn't nihilistic, especially in Ellis mode. Existing in the same world as Superman just creates a moral discourse about ends and means.
but the authority isnt nihilstic, it was radical, hopeful and violent.
the dark part its up in the air for me, cuz it goes hand in hand with somber tones that i don't think were taken as such, it was done more in stormwatch with the jenny flashbacks.
will they be confident enough in midnighter and apollo being gay or will they make them room mates with fruity dialogue to one another
>Kaizen Gamorra
>Movie's message is China needs to be destroyed
kino incoming
Nah, they'll probably reright Kaizen as a dindu victimized by the British or something. I'm not expecting much.
>Movie's message is China needs to be destroyed
Based
Nobody fricking cares you homosexual, I hope everyone involved kills themselves.
Seems like you care quite a bit.
>only out and proud homosexual there is Lee Pace
>get him for Hawksmoor and not Apollo
What are they they thinking? Whatever, I love my man Lee Pace, I'll see him in anything, nohomo.
Based. Followed him from Pushing Daisies to Halt and Catch Fire to GOTG to Foundation. I’ll watch anything he’s in though I haven’t seen Bodies Bodies Bodies due to the presence of Skeet Davidson.
Same. It's a shame he was wasted as Ronan. I held out hope that since he was under makeup he could return as some other character, but it's proving to be futile. He'd be a kino Doom.
EMPIRE
authority seems like such a gunn project + didnt he say it was a passion project of his? it makes sense that someone else would direct it since gunn is busy but still out of all dcu movies you would think this was the one gunn would do lol
I thought they were just supposed to be part of the next Superman movie.
It was a misdirect, the characters Hollywood insiders thought were the Authority ended up being the Justice League (Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho)
is it the nuthority? where apollo has grey hair and midnighter is black? can't have a ginger on the big screen can they.
doubt it atleast going by the picture they used
Are they gonna have Superman show up
and pretend to kill them all?
I hope so
Everyone expects that so I would guess no
Also wouldn't hit as hard as we spent 10 years with Man of Murder already
>Avengers
>But edgy
Everyone knows that the MCU is just the Ultimates stories being adapted. Even though Ultimates is worse than the original Stormwatch series it's way better than the shitty Disney movies and Matt has proven to be a fraud all his movies have terrible pacing and one great scene. Not interested
>Everyone knows that the MCU is just the Ultimates stories being adapted.
It really isn't other than deciding to use certain characters and costumes
The plot of the movies comes straight from the ultimate verse they take some things from the 616 but the blueprint came from the 1610
no it doesn't
>no mutants (and no incest)
>no Fantastic Four
>Cap isn't a bigot against cheeseBlack folk
>Tony doesn't have a brain in his ass
>Hulk isn't a rapist and actual villain
>Carol is Captain Marvel instead of a SHIELD operative
>Widow was morally white instead of a commie bawd
They just used black Fury and the concept of the Avengers being a paramilitary team with federal/international funding.
>Avengers is about the alien invasion and the setup is the same as in the Ultimateverse
>Avengers 2 takes plotlines from Ultimates 2
MCU is the lame version of the ultimateverse and of course nothing "edgy" will be adapted
will midnighter kill a normal guy for calling him homosexual
It's going to be DC's The Boys but with more obnoxious statements
>Actor eyed for test for Apollo include Jacob Elordi
Someone at Warner really wants to push him as the next Ezra Miller
