The Time Variance Authority recruits Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) to help Agent Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) investigate a temporal anomaly on Earth-838: Magneto (Ian McKellen) has used Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), whose mind was fractured after being possessed by Earth-616’s Scarlet Witch, to rewrite reality and create a world where mutants are the dominant species. The X-Men – Cyclops (James Marsden), Storm (Halle Berry), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Rogue (Anna Paquin) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) – are Magneto’s enforcers and fight the Resistance formed by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), Dopinder (Karan Soni), Peter (Rob Delaney), Negasonic (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).
Wolverine steals Paradox’s TemPad and travels back in time to prevent Magneto’s victory, with Deadpool and Paradox in pursuit. They visit several past events and parallel universes, encountering Mister Fantastic (Ioan Gruffud), Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), Daredevil (Ben Affleck), Gambit (Channing Tatum), X-23 (Dafne Keen), Old Man Logan and several variants of Deadpool, leading to a final Magneto and his army in the Golden Gate Bridge, the moment that Magneto altered in order to ensure his victory. The battle is massively destructive and results in the deaths of most involved until Wanda is depowered by the mutant cure, retroactively preventing Magneto from manipulating her into doing his bidding.
The TVA arrives to repair the catastrophic damage done to the timeline and exiles Deadpool, Wolverine, Paradox and Wanda to Earth-616, where they will be “someone else’s problem”. Wolverine leaves in search of Earth-616’s mutants, while Deadpool meets Earth-616’s Blind Al and asks to share an apartment with her.
