The anon right above you probably has a good an explanation as any. As far as I note, mostly when Guts came up as a combatant Dimitri was pretty much never mentioned as the preferred opponent. Sometimes Geralt, sometimes Clare, sometimes Samurai Jack, I think I saw Ike every now and again. But never Dimitri. Somehow, they went with the choice that pissed off all the semi-regulars here.

How so? Dimitri was a prince that witnessed a massacre and it left a stain on his soul, but otherwise had a normal life. Guts was born out of a hanged corpse, got adopted and abused by a mercenary band, struck out on his own and made friends, got betrayed by someone he likely thought was his best buddy, and now searches for revenge in kind of a meandering way. Dimitri is still a king, at the end of the day. Revenge stories are very, very common and the themes between Dimitri and Guts are thin. Also the "have a nice day" shit doesn't make sense considering that they designed the system to allow Servants with Magic Resistance: A, which outright allows a Servant to avoid a suicide command if they push it.

It's meant a ritual between 7 consenting magi. You need to outright be knowledgeable enough to both be a magus and create the summoning circle to compete in the first place. Shirou managed to plot armor his bumbling protagonist ass into a summoning circle that was premade, but nobody who doesn't want to fight should be in the war.

It's literally only two of the participating families max that care about that. The Throne of Heroes is more like supervalhalla than it is a typical afterlife, and the actual 'soul' as you so put it is more like a photocopy of them anyway. Unless your name is Scherazade and you're a massive pussy b***h, a Servant wouldn't give a damn about dying again. (Also, Sche would NEVER agree to be summoned to fight in a Grail War anyway.) Atrum Galliasta blends dozens of kidnapped people just to create a small crystal of magical energy.
A bunch of them want to obliterate the world itself for the funnies.
Some of them will cause zombie/vampire apocalypses just because "need immortality."
At least one guy achieved immortality through reincarnating into other people and slowly having his personality overwrite them, where he would then proceed to slaughter all of their loved ones.
a ritual between 14 consenting parties where 7 ghosts sort of die again (but not really) is in concept one of the least horrible things Fate has.

Black person, Servants aren’t even the true Heroic Spirit. They’re just a vague generalization of the hero’s legend molded to fit a specific class. Therems no reason to treat (most of) them like actual people with rights n’ shit. All the Servants’ memories only go one-way; they know what their living self knew, but they don’t retain any memories between summons. You could backstab them in one HGW, then summon them in the next one, and they wouldn’t even remember you, let alone that you betrayed them. And considering the Root is literally the entire source of magic that Fate magic revolves around, sacrificing what are little more than solid holograms to reach it is more than reasonable.

Not always, for example, some Servants in FGO are off-limits because the ones responsible for their creation made it so they will only ever love their own Self-Insert characters. For example, see Suzuka Gozen from Foxtail, she's one of the few FGO characters that specifically don't crave (You) because the guy who made Foxtail made her Master into his own personal self-insert and has mandated himself not to be cucked in the shitty gacha game.
Also, Saber is another special case in that she will remember because she's not actually dead.

On the level of Servants at least, when you get into frickers like actual Magi and Dead Apostle Ancestors and Beasts, things get a little more dicey.
The worst part isn't even the MU, it's the fact that the fight choreography is going to suck ass. Just two action figures with swords hitting each other until one dies. I wish they'd just do Discord vs Bill already, that has exciting animation potential and a chance for a weird fricked up kill.

I get some people are upset this is Guts’ match coming back or that this is our first Fire Emblem match. I don’t really care so long as the episode is entertaining and fun. So far the animation looks stellar and the analysis previews were promising. If this episode is an 8/10 or better I’ll be happy.
I guess my one hope is that this episode will be a good returning episode for Guts. Even if the first episode has some…shaky research, it’s how a lot of people, myself included, were first exposed to Berserk. I just want the series I love to get a great episode. So far I think it has a good chance too. Is this my preferred Guts mu? No, I’d have done Guts vs Clare. But I’m fine with this one.

This is...Beyond cringe...The art style and sounds don't even work...The pacing is also all over the place. The sound design also kinda sucks as well, it almost feels like the slap stick sounds were put it by another guy AFTER the fact. It feels like the uploader put them in, because the audio level of the slapstick shit isn't even on the same audio %s as all the other sounds going on so it feels jarring. Also they're going for Sakuga shots WITH the comedy shit and it just feels out of place because that style wasn't done for comedy. It's done for action, and impacts so just it screams horrid directing and tonal inconsistencies. it reminds me of the lucas line "I may have gone too far in a few places"

Dimitri and Guts basically share a backstory, Guts has it worse in that regard no doubt, but Ike and Guts is the same kind of superfical bullshit that got us Pit vs Sora.
How so? Dimitri was a prince that witnessed a massacre and it left a stain on his soul, but otherwise had a normal life. Guts was born out of a hanged corpse, got adopted and abused by a mercenary band, struck out on his own and made friends, got betrayed by someone he likely thought was his best buddy, and now searches for revenge in kind of a meandering way. Dimitri is still a king, at the end of the day. Revenge stories are very, very common and the themes between Dimitri and Guts are thin. To quote myself regarding the "similarities" in backstory presented:

Several reasons.
1. Speedy went mask off after his meltdown and reveled that consistency doesn't matter and they leave it up to each team to decide stats and scaling on an episode by episode basis, so everyone is still in a bad mood.
2. People were hoping for Guts to out to on a more respectful note than dying to a lord so literally who he wasn't in Smash. They were hoping for Jack, because it would have been soul as frick.

Black person, Servants aren’t even the true Heroic Spirit. They’re just a vague generalization of the hero’s legend molded to fit a specific class. Therems no reason to treat (most of) them like actual people with rights n’ shit. All the Servants’ memories only go one-way; they know what their living self knew, but they don’t retain any memories between summons. You could backstab them in one HGW, then summon them in the next one, and they wouldn’t even remember you, let alone that you betrayed them. And considering the Root is literally the entire source of magic that Fate magic revolves around, sacrificing what are little more than solid holograms to reach it is more than reasonable.

I get some people are upset this is Guts’ match coming back or that this is our first Fire Emblem match. I don’t really care so long as the episode is entertaining and fun. So far the animation looks stellar and the analysis previews were promising. If this episode is an 8/10 or better I’ll be happy.
I guess my one hope is that this episode will be a good returning episode for Guts. Even if the first episode has some…shaky research, it’s how a lot of people, myself included, were first exposed to Berserk. I just want the series I love to get a great episode. Also they're going for Sakuga shots WITH the comedy shit and it just feels out of place because that style wasn't done for comedy.
