because DBS is a linear story, there are no multiple installments. with capeshit it's less "composite" and more... inconsistencies from the myriad writers, since some of these characters have been around for a very long time and have appeared in hundreds, if not thousands of issues. for every issue of Thor punching someone so hard they fly all the way through the earth you have several more instances of him being worried about a nuke. same goes for the Hulk, Superman and every other capeshit high tier. it doesn't help that many battleboard posters often tend to go for stricter power rankings. herald tier, teambuster tier, skyfather tier, etc
Generally, if Goku isn't putting ki into defending against something his durability isn't that hot either. The lasers, the bullets, and that stuff. The issue is that, even with equal stats, it's not an avenue of attack that Goku would be able to anticipate and put up appropriate defenses for. It's a mode of attack that I don't recall anyone has ever tried on him before. And even if he does put defenses up, his brain is probably a lot more fragile than the bones and muscles he normally has to shield with his ki.
With stats equalized Superman should get rekt. Goku would be like Wondy with lasers.
Supes has combat experience and has practiced some kryptonian martial arts but it has established that even with that he gets rekt almost every time he fights an enemy with similar strength that is an martial arts expert

The issue is that, even with equal stats, it's not an avenue of attack that Goku would be able to anticipate and put up appropriate defenses for. It's a mode of attack that I don't recall anyone has ever tried on him before. And even if he does put defenses up, his brain is probably a lot more fragile than the bones and muscles he normally has to shield with his ki.
