It's all really messy. He wanted revenge on the saiyans for them trashing his planet so he goes for Goku and Vegeta. He later learns they're okay and not buttholes (including being saved by Bardock), plus the original saiyans were all killed by Frieza, who ordered Granolah's world to be destroyed as well as employs the Gas crew. He gets dunked on by Gas anways and needs Goku and Vegeta to finish it, only to get everything handled by Frieza. Ultimately this arc only served to bring in another set of dragon balls, another "strongest in the universe" character who will at least die naturally in a couple years maybe, and top dog Frieza

The difference is: Goku’s using his own feats from those crossovers to be strong as frick (he’s a monster in Xenoverse and Heroes), Ryu literally has to rely on fighting game logic and loose scaling chains to look good. That’s why it’s so goofy.

I don't really see the connective tissue, and I don't get what moveset-wise would make it too interesting from a fight standpoint. Not to say it's bad or anything, I'm just curious why you like it so much and I want to understand more. This is all going off of what I remember from reading the Invincible Comic and watching the OPM anime, so perhaps I'm just not remembering right.

From a fight animation, it's just two really vicious aliens physically tearing each other apart. BB/Thokk gets really bloody, and Boros regenerates from some gnarly wounds. From a thematic standpoint, it's two wandering fight addict aliens that left their home planet in search of thrilling combat and the promise of powerful opponents, that come to Earth in hopes of finding that opponent of a lifetime that'll get their blood pumping.
I respect it, the potential for a fun fight is just as important as the connections.
I can respect that, those are fair reasons to like the matchup. That said, both of them are pretty minor characters in their respective stories, to my memory. Most of Battle Beast's big fight happens offscreen, with him ultimately getting turned into a glorified tiger skin rug on Thragg the next time we see him without too much in the way of impressive feats going his way, and Boros getting chumped as hard as he does against Saitama is kind of the whole joke of his character, also not putting up much of a display of what he can really do.

I'm almost certain Battle Beast is stronger due to him being able to go toe to toe with Thragg, potentially being more than capable of beating him if he didn't intentionally cripple himself after Thragg got sabotaged, but I don't think he has ANYTHING to stop Boros just splatting himself on him over and over until BB eventually breaks. Feels like a bit of a lame way to end the fight, if so.
There's some characters in Death Battle that never actually fight. Smokey, McGruff, Kool-Aid Man. Sauron's fight scenes are pretty sparse. What Boros and Battle Beast have are probably more than enough. Boros probably does outlast Battle Beast after a long and drawn out battle, which I think is part of the appeal. Rope-a-dope is a acknowledged path to victory. But Boros has to get there after possibly literal days of him and Battle Beast tearing each other apart, which is what I think some want to see.
Both are beings that were exceptional to their original species and would take to the stars in search of a worthy challenge (Beast being cursed with strength and seeks bloodshed as a means of finding a worthy death and Boros simply being built different, becoming bored as nothing could give him a challenge). Both would spend long periods of time traveling across the universe fighting before coming to earth and meeting a worthy challenger (Boros with Saitama, though BB was moreso of him finally finding Viltrumites, and his eventual meeting with General Thragg). Battle Beast is more honor driven in that he seeks his final battle to be fair (as in he isn't given a handicap like when Thragg had his stomach ripped open by an outside enemy, BB does the same to himself as to not taint his victory), while Boros seemingly has little morals with whoever he fights and commands the Black Matter Pirates, sacking and destroying planets simply because they have the power to do so. Finally, both meet their ends content, BB having a worthy death that ends his curse and Boros (while knowing Saitama wasn't going all-out) having finally fought a being he could give his all to

Eh, I think Boros' and Thokk's overlap in personality is more compelling. They're both earnestly searching for that fight of a lifetime. To them, the fight is the end goal. FU isn't searching for that fight, it doesn't define him. He just wants to cause havoc and be with his friend. He's more like the Joker. The similarity in motivation makes Battle Beast vs Boros more compelling.

Huh, you're right. I'm going to say that a quick read over of their reasons isn't really convincing, as the show has composited other characters with equally divergent alternative selves before such as saying all the different versions of Dimitri are equal.
They just say Oersted's universal because of armageddon and that Garland can't really compete with that. They also try to say that Jack beating the 3 Omegas doesn't count anyways because "that dlc didn't care about canon, it was just for fun".

There's also that Necron device that was basically a vidya map of the galaxy that affected reality so if you deleted a planet on the map it would be delete the actual planet and some other dumb shit.
