You can’t even pretend that that’s not how Mahito fights. All of his kills come from surprise attacks or waiting for his opponent to be weakened, which isn’t useful in a 1v1 scenario if his opponent can get around his shriveled heads.

Most people try to, you know, punch their opponents. Mahito loves flaunting about and going for obvious grabs or open palm touches. That’s how he fought against Nobara and the now dead sunglasses mentor man. Again though, the instakills don’t matter if their opponent is faster or can overwhelm them. ShiggyAfo never really got a chance to decay Deku because he was getting used like a punching bag, Mahito is already a shitter in terms of speed and got outclassed by NB and Yuji just wailing on him from both sides.

Is the opponent being transported into the world of Death Note and all the things that normally happen there, still happen? Or is Light magically transported to another world and he has no access to the resources he would normally have built by being Kira?
And if he has resources, how much? Is this Light just starting to use the notebook using his dad's police data? Light after L's death with actual police authority?
Where do the "combatants" meet each other? Does this have to be resolved in a single 3-minute meeting in a single room? Normally Light would just brush things off and then research his "opponent" on his own and finish them off at a distance. In order to even think about the matchup you kind of already have to create a scenario where he can't just walk away, so it's awkward because it feels like you're giving him a disadvantage from the start. And if you don't do that, is the matchup placing the detective in the position of L where they have to find him from scratch? Not many people have the resources to do that, L was special in having authority on top of smarts.

Also I guess in the situation of Walter, the battle would be about Light trying to shut down Walter's organization and Walter moving to stop him.
