The problem is that they do, not actively in citing them directly, but passively in not being rigorous enough in checking where the information comes from. They calculate it being an explosion radiating outward from a singular point, entirely consuming either a universe or 1/9th of one. If it can't even destroy the sun and moon above, it suddenly looks a lot less impressive, but a lot more honest.
Couldn't they just use the Fenrir feat as the basis for a logical argument? Other mythologies all have their own divine frickery and creation myth regarding the sun, moon, and stars. They shouldn't be able to see the same literal feats so each mythology in GoW would have their own cosmos, from there it would naturally extend to the Norse realms having their own cosmos since they don't share the same physical plane.

No worries at all, Fenrir doesn't do that in God of War: Ragnarok. (But he is an extremely good boy, so it evens out.) I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the Norse realms have their own sun and moon. Surtr gave heat to the sun and stars. Skoll and Hati chase the sun and moon. Vanaheim as a realm has an incredibly close relationship with both of them (even if it can be argued that it's mostly for gameplay reasons). I can absolutely believe the Norse realms have their own sun and moon for those reasons. The problem is that they don't all have individual suns and moons, which the Asgard destruction calculation assumes. Even if it's 1/9th of a universe, that's 1/9th of a universe that clearly has a sun in the sky, and there's only one sun to speak of.
Because it appears the sun and moon in God of War Norse myth operate under Percy Jackson rules. You can find the moon as a small orb about the size of a potato after it was stolen out of the sky. It is probably not the same as the real moon. In the same way, Helios dying in GoW 3 just blocked out the sun, not destroyed it. The sun and moon under the myths appear to be more like this:

Pretty much, yeah. AFAIK, X has tanked some seriously bullshit stuff both in the games and the manga. However, Samus has defenses against certain things that X just plain cannot handle without additional protection, like needing a Ride Armor to travel through magma. Really, it just boils down to how they'll scale X and Samus to one another, and what feats they'll use to justify the power scaling.
weakness to heat is a big deal against Samus since power bombs are an explicit heat based weapon that gets core star temperatures
her weapons are, if we go by DB standards instead of sanity, also quite a bit stronger than might appear at first hand thanks to the volt driver text from hunters (multi terrawatt per shot, which deathbattle absolutely would scale every other weapon in Samus's arsenal to and her durability)
one thing I think is fun about using Samus in battles like this is that she has an incredibly extensive arsenal of weapons and upgrades, and scan visor makes it so she knows exactly how to apply them to maximum effect against pretty much any opponent
it's not an auto-win, but it does allow for fun hypotheticals where if she faces an enemy that can say, only be hurt by gamma radiation, she could just start blasting him with her nuclear bomb beam without it feeling like bullshit
Even then, while he doesn't have any explicit protection against heat, X has tanked some seriously beefy attacks throughout his series. It'd mostly be a matter of how much punch her Power Bombs pack, and would it be enough to do serious damage to X? Really, it would ultimately boil down to whether or not Samus at her current absolute strongest (Dread's Metroid Armor with energy drain and Hyper Beam) can atomize X's Core to prevent him from regenerating?

so against things which have extreme durability normally but are vulnerable to temperatures it's pretty dang effective, since it works through pure heat
I do think X probably wins since he has more pure numbers feats, but some of Samus's weapons do get pretty esoteric
Dude can basically regenerate from being atomized, albeit with the caveat that his core has to survive so he can regenerate, Perfect Cell-style. If Samus busts out the Metroid Armor Hyper Beam from Dread, she might clutch a win, but that's if her Hyper Beam is strong enough to do the job, since there's no way of knowing for sure how Metroid and MMX's tech scales with one another, power-wise.
