I mean, CSM already kind of DOES have the edge. Makima’s a shitter who can’t even really scale to anyone since she’s not using her own physical capabilities majority of the time, but characters like the Hybrids, Denji, Asa, Aki, and even Power to an extent can freely scale to or above big stuff like Gun Devil moving so fast while at 20% of its power that it causes shockwaves strong enough to create craters and wiping cities off of the map, characters condensing mass as large as an infinitely expanding space into a spear, characters knocking each other out of orbit, and so on. The big big stuff like Falling altering the gravity of the entire planet with her presence alone and causing natural disasters just by existing is reserved for Denji and Asa though.
Oh and to answer your question, yes it would give them a better edge.
Not a fan of gun devil scaling or any kind of scaling in CSM really. Most characters are getting dismembered or splattered by wall level forces and need normal motorbikes to escape from enemies. CSM really is not that great for power scaling and VS debates in general but due to good hax, people will force it in anyway.

It's ludicrous to drive up the characters' durability when they've been shown getting toasted by normal bullets.

Through it's more creative in scenarios than battle maneuvers. Like, I only had a few combat move ideas in mind, most of it was just set up.
And me liking the idea of Unicron body switching in the middle of the fight (and giving his planet mode more to do than just be in the opening, even if I understand it's kind of an awkward shape for a fight).
Also, I don't have a budget for this. This would probably be realistic in like a 2-3 issue comic book, not an animated webshow.

That's power cliffing. I'm talking more about keeping a character like John Wick's power consistent in his own verse. He's the top dog and can take on any elite assassin but it's established he can falter under unfair conditions so it won't be immersion breaking if he loses that way. Taking him out without establishing that he's being ambushed and that the enemy was extremely prepared would immediately be poor storytelling.
