It is annoying that Archie Sonicverse has been wanked into that dumb multilayered cosmological scaling shit. The characters with Super forms or equivalents are all going to be boosted up to match the Super Genesis Wave. And because Archieverse doesn't have as many layers of reality as DC and Marvel they get shit stomped by anyone of their preferred match ups there. And they shit stomp basically all of their other match ups because most franchises don't do layered reality.
Also the reversal of the Super Genesis Wave probably isn't as impressive as it is made out to be. Sonic explains it as being a super charged chaos control and that his how he intuits how to reverse it. The fact that Super Sonic was disrupted from fixing things by Eggman just ramming him with a jerryrigged Egg Mobile.
Al and Cal are some of the closests things to supreme beings in Archie Verse, with them casually endangering extradimensional universes each containing it's own Chaos Force

Are they? Only half of the mane 6 is worth talking about, purple smart, blue fast and pink stupid everyone else is not a fighter at all. I've seen a handful in American audiences, plenty more in Japanese audiences. Most Super Mario Kun translations are not readily available (or exist) for western audiences to read and it isn't advertised in western as much as it is in eastern. Hell you could even say that Penders contributed to the cancellation of the Archie Mega Man comics as well, since the lawsuit likely hurt Archie's professional reputation with Capcom.

I started down the What if rabbit hole, and these are the common tropes:

It wasn't always like this, I blame Toei for running out of ideas to keep Dragon Ball ongoing after Z ended, it became an issue early on in the Buu Saga but it only really became obvious during GT when Vegeta's relevance consisted entirely of A. his time when he was a host for Baby and B. when he was fusion material for SS4 Gogeta.

The identity of the DB franchise relies on the strength of their characters.
If some DC heavy hitter like GL, WW, or Batman, lose against other characters it sucks but ultimately it's okay because these guys have more to say than just their powers.
If Goku loses against other characters (outside the DB universe) it's over for him because without him being the strongest character in the room he is nothing.

I think GL has the best chance at winning since Hal is the only one outside Batman to workshop how he would beat everyone else, has the most versatile powerset, and has ways to protect himself from the others' wincons.

I'd say that once we reached Reverse Flash vs Goku Black that Death Battle really jumped into universe measuring. I think that's also the first time we see DC universes get mentioned as having multiple spatial dimensions.

Also the reversal of the Super Genesis Wave probably isn't as impressive as it is made out to be. The identity of the DB franchise relies on the strength of their characters.
If some DC heavy hitter like GL, WW, or Batman, lose against other characters it sucks but ultimately it's okay because these guys have more to say than just their powers.
If Goku loses against other characters (outside the DB universe) it's over for him because without him being the strongest character in the room he is nothing.
