A lot of stuff from the Unicron trilogy was the blueprint for a lot of stuff, from mini-cons going over, cybertronians having a bunch of different colony planets, to the powerlink shit that Machinima ripped off for that godawful combiners series
Having some interesting world building isn't the same thing as telling a good story. Cybetron wasn't even actually a part of the Unicron Trilogy in Japan which is why there are so many plot hopes and shaky moments in the dub where they try to stitch things together.
I am grateful for Vector Prime though.
Cybertron was an absolute wild ride that was fun from start to finish. Yes the story got shaky at times, but I wouldn't trade Starscream throwing hands with the TF equivalent of God for nothing.
