I don't think there is going to be a reckoning for GOW, because its legitimacy is based entirely on how you interpret the lore and source material. It's more of a litmus test of your personal interpretation of battleboarding/powerscaling. If anything, the reckoning I was thinking of happened in the G1 blog, where they politely noted that developer commentary was contradictory and collected/interpreted poorly by the fanbase and shouldn't be used, which I think was the best way it could have been settled.
But they also implicitly interpreted the game stuff with a slanted reading based on certain developer tidbits while ignoring all contradicting information that says each pantheon is county level at best.
I remember that Google doc I made back in the day was making the rounds here a little while ago. Does anybody have it saved? You can read the conclusions I came to in my "reckoning" of the GOW series if you want. The truth is, it's really not very cut and dry, aside from the developer comments being misinterpreted at the time of my writing it.

hard to say. kratos can move a lot of weight, but his durability and punching don't seem great, and that kind of sole-deep nuance eludes most powergays. i guess he's kind of like raiden from mgr in that regard. the impression i got from playing the first three games (granted i am not a superfan) is that kratos at his usual size and on any given day would be capable of pressing millions of kilograms, but he couldn't shrug off something like the MOAB or a 30mm turret and speed-wise he doesn't seem to be too much faster than someone like captain america so not exactly moving at supersonic speeds. does that seem fair to anyone else? i realize i excluded things like hax and weapons, i'm talking physicals only here.

Yeah, there's an undeniable issue with Battleboaring and how it has a tendency to smooth over the narrative or thematic place of characters in their original work for the sake of purely looking at stats and power interactions.
Not to say it's bad to powerscale or anything, but I do kind of agree with anon, some characters should probably be excluded from battleboarding due to how much it kind of takes away from the spirit of the character and their place in their original stories.

If Ken can get the aura in, he can explode Gojo, and he can counter the black flash with a strike of his own killing him.
Against Makima, he can consistently kill her, but it's a question of time to end her, since he can't bypass the contract, and none of his techniques will destroy her completely, and whether he'll tire first. He isn't a citizen of Japan, as Japan doesn't exist in his time.

A great deal of capeshit does try to suspend your disbelief or offer plausible explanations for some of the more fantastical things, why things can or cannot happen. For example, Iron Man's armors used to have some relatively well thought out mechanisms to explain why it could do the things it did, before "idk nanobots in his skin". Or how Thor doesn't normally fly, but he throws his hammer with his godly strength and he holds on to it, which allows him to fly indefinitely in outer space!
Of course, cape settings are goofy and lowbrow, but there are many examples of internal consistency, and a "logic" to it all. Even with egregious outcomes like Spidey beating Firelord, the writer himself "powerscaled" by making it a death by a thousand cuts situation; Peter WAS a lot weaker than Firelord.

I remember there was a series with only scooby and shaggy and there was some sort of special scoobysnacks giving boosts to scooby. But still IMO wont be enough to take dosn courage because courage is extremely tanky, he can take heavy hitting and still stand like in one episode he was fighting a "metal courage" that courage wasn't able to even harm, the only reason why courage won was by tanking so much heavy hitting that "metal courage" just wasnt able to comprehend courage still standing it got its electronics fried.
Eh, there are times where Scooby and Shaggy have dealt with legitimate supernatural activity, but it's less frequent than Courage, and Scooby was never on his own, always having Shaggy available for help. But still, I'd say that Courage wins.
