In total, the fight was charming, the nonsense was amusing, they were quippy and annoying in all the right ways. It felt like a perfect mix of the two. I insist that Rick is at his best as a character when he's horrendously fricked and that's what I liked about it.
The animation was smooth, the battle was extremely dynamic and constantly changing, Rick got to be an annoying little bastard, there were tons of references to both sides.
I think some people may have expected something epic, flashy, and over-the-top but that wasn't ever really...going to happen? That's not how either show really works 95% of the time.
So people who only know the versus debating side of Doctor Who or R&M may be disappointed, but that’s just how both series work.
