I think that, besides the fact that this is the third time they're doing this, another thing that bothers me is how little can a re-examination offer to these characters, at least in a versus sense.
Sure, GvS2 did an awful job analyzing their themes and characterizations and they can try to fix that here. Sure, they can do a more polished and dynamic animation now.
But the first GvS was 10 minutes long, which was longer that entire episodes back then, it took its time to go through every power and transformation (at least the ones mentioned in the analysis).
Here I'm just expecting the two guys to punch each other until one's dead (Goku), and that's all, just with Blue and UI instead of the ssj forms, and that's it.
Compare that with Mario vs Sonic, or Link vs Cloud, they have tons of different powers and tools, they could do a third one of each if they wanted and have the fight be completely different.
I'm not saying you can't do a flying brick fight in an interesting way, of course they can, but look at how souless Gogeta vs Vegito was, and of course, the fact that this is the third time seeing this fight, and like the ninth time seeing a saiyan, what else can they do different?
The difference is both are composited from everything they've appeared in, taken at their absolute peak, and Ben said Superman has limits this time. Goku takes it this time. There's no reason for the to do the rematch under all these conditions if they aren't going to give Goku the win he deserved
