Perhaps they'll give Immortal a power boost in the show like they're giving Omni Man..
They've already given immortal a power boost. Nolans been nerfed really.
How's that
Immortal wasn't even able to put a scratch on Nolan in either of their "fights" in the comic and falls behind Mark not long after.
waste of a character.
Shounen brain rot. A character is more than how strong they are.
Funny you mention shounen since that's what Invincible is. Mark is Goku and no other hero matters.
Kind of the opposite really, the entire show is trying to make mark half as interesting as nolan now that the initial hook has been spent.
Ah so Mark is Gohan but Gohan who actually keeps the role of Earth's protector. He still has to fight Nolan, Conquest, Thragg, etc while every other hero just hopes not to die during that.
That just gets old man. I prefer shit where multiple characters are actually relevant and can actually fight the big bads if needed and not die instantly.
One, he’s the title character. Of course he will be involved in all major events.
Two, the rest of the cast contributes plenty and have their own storylines.
The Dragonball comparison isn’t as solid as you might think.
>he's the title character
That doesn't mean he has to do everything under the sun.
Last you, enjoy it.
Mark literally would have lost to Conquest without Eve, he would have lost the thragg battle without Robot, Was carried hard by Nolan during the bugussy fight and the viltrumite war, this comparison is dogshit and Mark is constantly helped out by his friends and allies
Goku would have lost literally every fight he ever had without outside intervention.
Even the strongest guy can't do it alone. Guess that's why Superman has the league of Justice.
That's a beautiful lesson for life. Even Superman needs a Justice League.
Yeah, it's kind of sweet. No man is an island.
Yeah except if Conquest punched Superman to the floor then here comes Diana, Billy, Martian Manhunter, and any other number of damn near flying bricks with extra special powers to fight him as someone goes to dust off Superman.
Sure, Eve healed Mark but that's it. She nor did anyone else go and start hammering him in the mean time did they?
She peeled out his entire skin and made him unable to move, i'd count that as an assist
Could have sworn the final Thragg fight was just a prevented suicide pact. Otherwise Mark could have just held him down in the sun if he thought he was 100% fricked.
Mark is Gohan.
What is Immortal’s character? “Dude, I’m going to frick this barely legal cloning chick?”
Arrogant elder statesman hero. A representative of the old guard who occasionally plays off Mark’s developing ideas of what it means to be a superhero.
Occasional opposition.
Twitter moment
I just want to know if Kate always showers with two extras of herself.
The Lincoln is Immortal thing gets stupider the more you think about it
I detest Lincoln so I try not to think about that.
moronic conservative with no media literacy? Checks out
The Real Lincoln by Thomas DiLorenzo
Immortal was Lincoln's body double and the real Lincoln continued his life as a vampire hunter post Immortal's death.
only if you think lincoln was a flawless saint. he wasn't.
>those two times the Immortal jumped out of a building to stop a vote
no wonder he survived
Fricking Whigs.
To have someone to scrub my back? I would.
Some of the events of the comics are shuffled for the show, 26ish sounds right, give or take.
I think the show is worse, just by contrast. I liked S1 so I read the comics, and I just kept finding myself saying "wait why did they change that? That makes less sense"
The show does elaborate on certain elements the comic just glossed over quickly, which I appreciate and is one of the things that is going to keep me watching the show.
Krillin had more to him than his ability to fight, and was pretty important on Namek. Immortal is more like Yamcha.
>To have someone to scrub my back? I would.
Yeah you right.
I assume Kate can dismiss them without having to turn them into paste
Yeah there's no charming effect for it they just walk into each other. I guess their splitting looks the same but in reverse. Honestly Kate has a ton of utility besides her virtual immortality. They don't even halfass explain the physics of it like they do with Eve. It seems like Kate could clone anything she's wearing, though I'm not sure I've seen her dupe outside the suit.
If Kate was standing there in full /k/ommando load out and say, holding a rifle (let's say an HK416) and she began to duplicate, are all her clones now standing there fully kitted out like some operators?
A clone hero making use of duped weaponry for their own personal army sounds kinda fun before. I know I've thought of a (dumb) hero named Arms Race who's a speedster but uses guns even though they can move faster than bullets. A self-nerf I guess bc they think guns are way cooler.
That actually kind of sounds cool as shit, especially if you implement some common sense restrictions to the speed powers like punching a steel wall a million times at super speed isn't much more effective than punching it a million times at normal speed, or having to make sure the bullet leaves the barrels of the guns he's firing before moving on to the next shot, or having to explain to people that just because he can move fast, he still experiences time normally as the world slows down around him, so sure, he CAN run 5 miles to the store and back faster than you can blink, but do YOU want to run 5 miles to the store, grab a bunch of shit, and then run another 5 miles back? Maybe have him spend as little time sped up as possible because he had a traumatic experience when he first got his powers and spent like a year in accelerated time and it went by in only a moment to everyone else.
Makes for an interesting character if you have to think about what is actually practical for one man to do alone while the world is frozen.
Quicksilver when he is actually written in an interesting way is like this.
>A clone hero making use of duped weaponry for their own personal army sounds kinda fun before.
Reprise is a Hardware villain that does this.
I'll check them out
She kind of does that with Rex in show. He gives her a bomb and she dupes herself then each of them run into an enemy or toss them.
I think Yamcha at the start of the android saga could unironically kill Thragg.
The Yamcha who fought a saibaman who is equal to Raditz to a draw wolf fangs right through Thragg's chest.
How so?
probably kinda helpful to get fully clean
Yeah you right
Sorry big I but Dupli-Kate is going to be with my OC!
Not all of us would go full homosexual if we could make a free back washer.
Real question is if the sex stays a threesome deal or goes full on orgy.
wow you actually made immortal sound cool
The problem is that he is supposed to be a professional team leader and the first thing he does is frick Kate after like a week
Immortal sucks. He is weak, uncharismatic and a shit leader despite thousands of years of sxperience
I know everyone wants to say it's just the evil superman trope but part of the whole point of the Viltrumites is they are ungodly, not even remotely close to "fair", unstoppably powerful. In most multiverses Mark sides with his father and the two steamroll the entire planet without any real effort.
And a whole empire worth of these frickers is coming.
Yeah
Meh. Shounen is about endlessly powering up. Invincible is more like facing certain death cause what the frick else can you do?
Of course it doesn't stay that way, but it's not due to training montages and the power of friendship.
I'm talking more about how Mark fights every big bad and everybody else has to sit with penis in hand hoping he manages to win.
>Shounen is about endlessly powering up.
False
isnt that kinda the point though in the first arch at least? That literally nothing on earth but A viltrumite can stand up to omniman.
Does that ever change?
Kinda. Late game robot could definitely take down a few with sound had. He even kills an alt Mark. Dinosaurus seemed to be really high up there in strength and durability. Which is kinda random. Invincible War had a bunch of alt Marks taken down by the GotG but who knows how strong they were. Probably a little stronger than current Mark.
Immortal is literally Krillin. The relatively weak human character who dies a lot and gradually becomes less important as the setting moves to space.
Which is funny because Krillin mogs Thragg.
Krillin would beg Thragg to frick his wife due to his sheer sex appeal and force of character/presence as the perfect man.
It matters not that Saiyan Saga Krillin's saibaman nuking blast would be enough to turn Thragg into a fine bloody mist.
Well I guess I can't argue with those numbers, fellow SCHOLAR.
What the frick is up with DBZgays and cucking?
When you're a DBZ fan and your favorite character is not named Goku or Vegeta, cucking is all you do.
Bejita*
Conduct yourself properly even outside of the halls.
You're right.
Cucking is an ultimate form of humiliation, so the character (Vegetable) best known for being humiliated by the villain (main or side) would be cucked a lot. It's a very big problem in the Shonen part of Cinemaphile whenever a fight occurs.
Reddit
All the Z-Fighters are leagues above most superhero universes by the end of Z. That's what happens when power levels get completely bullshit.
>fanart vs reality

The animation was never stellar so how bad are the conditions that they had to delay it?
If Kirkman is to be believed they essentially had to restart production after Covid
I hope this is true and season 3 has better animation. Comic adaptations this close to the source material basically don't exist anymore, so I really want to love Invincible, but the animation is very choppy
>having an adaptation that's faithful to the original source material
Gee, must be nice...
Oof
Don't care, he's hot
that looks like a woman
I will take Nolan being a memetastic psycho any day over Mark getting busy pushed in by two killer twins.
I wonder how many people are regretting going along with that propaganda known as COVID.
crunch is a natural part of any entertainment medium
but animation is kind of under a microscope
fans have been very vocal on wanting animators to be treated "fairly" and its already a medium where they frequently miss deadlines anyways
also Invincible is popular enough to get away with it
It doesn't really have anything to do with the production (they're literally already animating season three), Amazon just delayed it so they'll have more shows in 2024 because of the strikes.
Isn't it done or did they actually not finish it from what I remember it's early next year like January or February release?
It's only almost month
Season 2's second half's release date got leaked for early January
That said, I'm starting to tinfoil over the idea that Kirkman deliberately did this increase book sales given new Invincible reprints are coming out with the "Read my books" line being a conscious choice to subconsciously convince people to read the source material instead of wait
This, it's no surprise the omnibus books are on sale. Classic sales tactic
>drip feed new thing
>ppl get interested
>ppl want more content
>stop the feed but remind them other media covering said thing exists
>ppl buy the comics, movies, books, etc to sate their want for more until said drip feed starts again.
Invincible wasn't even shilled comic wise in season 1, now everyone is like comic mark this and future character that so its not a surprise they cut you off before the show alone is enough. They did the same thing with The Boys.
Yes but The Boys comic was fricking dog shit compared to the show.
>"Read my books" line being a conscious choice to subconsciously convince people to read the source material instead of wait
Absolutely devilish.
Well people have been begging the west to be more like Japan. A good chunk of anime is only made for selling manga and light novels,
Also helps like manga you can just start reading at Invincible no 1 and get a complete story. Sure there's a couple spin offs but you can ignore those without losing much.
Except for that one part where you have to read a seperate special one-shot Viltrumite War prelude in between issues from the main comic
I hate this half season bullshit. Just release it week after week once it's done. You get diminishing returns on audience retention with half season bullshit
They are already working on S3.
>That said, I'm starting to tinfoil over the idea that Kirkman deliberately did this increase book sales given new Invincible reprints are coming out with the "Read my books" line being a conscious choice to subconsciously convince people to read the source material instead of wait
Kino
lel is just a seasonal holiday,
weirdest fricking decision but short.
If the episodes were nearly an hour long I'd be okay with this.
whaaat? alright, whatever..
They made a frickton of money from comic sales after the success of the first season. Presumably production will get back on track after this rough second season.
Over half a million when S1 first started airing
Next year January, right? It’s not that big of a delay.
January or February from the sounds of things.
I'm not OP but I also wanted to start reading the comics because I keep getting spoiled by random threads here and it's really pissing me off. Wich is a shame because I was really enjoying the show.
How many issues of the comics have been adapted so far? And is the comic the same, worst or better than the show in your personal opinion?
We're in issue 26 territory iirc.
Lincoln got what he deserved
you can't rush art
was cecil supposed to look and sound like trey gowdy or is that just coincidence?
Enjoy the shittiest, most rushed and unsatisfying ending of any comic ever. Mark becomes everything he fought against in the entire comic in the span of a few pages, also Kirkman tried to redeem the rapist lady viltrumite in like 4 panels but it didn't work.
where’s the best way to read it
https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/Invincible
not him but thanks cus they also have the goon
yw
"the goon"?
I read a few pages, saw that it reaches a point of 'the real power was the friends we made along the way' and checked out. I'm good.
Why don't they just outsource the animation? It won't look any different. If they used Dong Yang or something, it would've been so far along by now.
Wait it is outsourced? what the hell the excuse here? What's wrong with this studio?
ow
There's like a week until next year.
>2023/11/29
>week till next year
sure buddy
Could somebody post QUALITY scenes?
While I understand the frustrations, at the same time I kinda grew out of the "OMG I HAVE TO WAIT HOW LONG?????" Phase because... there's so much media out there to experience that 1 or 9 months flay by way faster then you think
The real problem is going to be when it comes out and turns out being really crappy...again.
But what if it isn't
The trend is your friend, so far it has been crappy, so it's very likely to remain crappy.
I'll take Invincible's current animation over some soulless Family Guy knockoff or Big Mouth shit any day.
Bad example, animation in comedies is not all that important, whereas in action shows it's ESSENTIAL.
Does Vox Machina count
Haven't watched it, what about it?
Its art and Invincible's are pretty similar, I know Amazon is behind both of em.
>Its art and Invincible's are pretty similar
Not a good indication.
As I said before, I'll take it over most of the animated noodly arm shit any day.
>noodly arm shit
I'm assuming you mean "CalArts style", which is tired but still representative of some really great shows, but is this still a thing?
In the other hand Netflix and HBO is churning amazing stuff and not just "Noodly arm shit"
Name of the show?
The Legend of Vox Machina
>Bad example, animation in comedies is not all that important, whereas in action shows it's ESSENTIAL.
>cry.jpg
This sort of response is nothing but a big cope, just accept the fact the show looks crappy as frick.
Why did Robot Brutally murder Knockout, Shapesmith, and Kid Thor? They're kinda fodder anyway
Cuck anger.
Bejita moment
Who's Bejita?
I cannot tell someone who has not walked the hallowed halls.
>Ricksmen
Why is everyone so much angrier at Nolan in the show? I don't remember Mark, Debbie and Art being that cold in the comics. Mark even cried while hugging him and asked him to come back.
Was the train scene in the comic?
not in the same way, no. Nolan was a lot more brutal in the show. He punches Mark into some subway cars but he doesn't do the whole "hold him in front and grind everyone to bits" thing
Compare what Nolan did before leaving in comic and in the show
>Why is everyone so much angrier at Nolan in the show?
this scene kinda ruined his redemption arc in the show. maybe if he killed them on accident while fighting, but this shit looks more lik omniman trying to cope about wanting to kill humans when he actually didn't wanted to do it
Oh please there are people who've done way worse than Nolan that've been redeemed in universes and by fans.
yeah, but the train scene was a show OG, not a comic thing. that's why im sckeptical
Fair enough.. also damn I had a character to throw in case you were like "oh yeah? who?" lmao. I guess that's what expecting everything to devolve into an argument on here has prepared me for.
Because show is going for drama and more realistic reactions. Debi would require spouse abuse level self confidence to accept Nolan after being called a pet on a global scale.
Fans are realizing just how fricking brutal Nolan is because the train scene makes the murders personal vs. a bunch of randoms you don't see getting killed off screen.
Like or hate the show, it is probably one of the best depictions of a super in world of tissue paper.
Actually, the whole Robot arc is hilarious because he saw monster girl underage body and said "would" to the point of turning himself into a shota
Which board does Robot frequent? He sounds like a Cinemaphile user to me.
he probably browsed /lo/ before they killed it
damn homie you were already ready to rumble after being here for years.
but thinking about it, vegeta and magneto did way worse shit and nowda6ys they're considered heroes
Vegeta's from a universe where death bears far less weight. Not just because of the dragonballs but also because of the afterlife being an established existence. Hell is confirmed to exist in the Invincible universe but it's far less upfront about how it all works.
This show feels like a Mexican telenovela. It reminds me of Gloryhammer, who started as a parody band and it's taking itself way too seriously with its lore now. Or OPM, for a probly better example.
The price to pay for making it hand drawn instead of using tweening.
Its actually alright
The story is an allegory of how weakness will literally ducking kill you. Compassion is useless, stone cold reason is the only way to live.
And I feel Mark Grayson is the villain
