Details on Matt Reeves Joker

First the design has been scrapped and it’s unknown whether Keoghan will return for the role. Rumor has it Gunn wants someone with the height and reach who can physically take on Batman. Here are character details.

>Joker in this universe is heavily inspired by esotericism and the Jesters you see when you take DMT. Joker will be a user of a drug by the same manufacturers as Drops that is essentially DMT and he kind of serves this Jester in the astral realm.

>Batman is aware of this quite early on but he spends the movie really testing his faith and beliefs and is teased by the possibilities of a supernatural world in which he may be able to see his family again. There’s never anything outright but there are moments Bruce thinks he may be up against way more than a man who seems to have luck on his side at all times. All of this leads to a discussion Bruce has with a priest that if done right may be one of the best Batman scenes of all time.

>Joker is fascinated by Batman as is the Jester he serves and he discovers Batman is Bruce fairly early and then devoted his crimes to breaking him. Joker goes on on an absolutely heinous crime spree in which he targets families living comfortably or rich whereby he kills everyone in the family except a son who has to witness all of it.

>Naturally the effects of these crimes hit Batman hard and he even contemplates stopping being the Batman and starts seeing the best shrink in Gotham, and I don’t even need to tell you her name!

>Batman takes one of the victims of Joker’s crimes under his wing as Robin and that’s where I’ll leave off. When Batman finally confronts the Joker about his crimes he simply says he “wants to see how many of the orphans turn out like me, and how many turn out like you.”

I just want something like Arkham or classic Chuck Dixon Batman. They kept the fantastical nature of the character without it intefering with the dramatic stakes of the story. It's childish to me to think that the only way to do Batman seriously is to change everythig about him and his mythos. The average comic writer back then is better and smarter than any Hollywood writer.

I'm not talking like that. Preferably, I'd prefer if they went with an Arkham games tone. Classic silliness but not at the detriment of the dramatic storylines. Of course, you'd need actual good writers for that and not nepo tinyhat hires.

It will inevitably be written to be "it could be supernatural, but everything can technically be explained without supernatural means". Can't be done. But it involves both a complex crime spree for Batman and not only physical but spiritual circumstances that create the Joker so he actually makes sense the COIRRECT way. There's Nazis, Commies, mobsters, an ayahuasca trip, it's actually cool and set pre-war during the political turmoil before FDR decided to outlaw anyone who questioned his meddling, which was fertile historical soil to form a more literary story about tyranny and rebellion.

I can not speak to the veracity of these plot details but I do have a little insight on this issue. WB screened two different cuts of The Batman, one with Keoghan pretty central to the plot including a couple scenes outside of the released deleted scene and on completely without him.
A lot of shit went down, Keoghan drunk on set, breaking confidentiality, insulting Andy Serkis, and overall just kind of an off putting person who Rob really didn’t like and then the cut featuring him tested about as pore as I’ve ever seen.
He was cut but for his work hours and just as a professional courtesy he was still billed, he was included in the final Arkham scene but not credited as Joker and his deleted scene was released so he could put it on his resume and that it may help him in future projects.
The decision on him coming back or not really hinges on Reeves and Gunn and Zaslov, they can only tell you for sure, but I do know an extensive search has been underway in a recast effort.
