He went full moron during SpongeBob
    >Was a great writer and storyboard artist on SpongeBob and wrote classics like Pizza Delivery, Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost, SB-129, Dying for Pie, Something Smells, Shanghaied, Band Geeks, Survival of the Idiots and Krusty Krab Training Video
    >He stays on the show after the first movie, but wrote shit like Boating Buddies, Choir Boys, Pineapple Fever, Dear Vikings, House Fancy, Greasy Buffoons, Pet or Pests, A Day Without Tears and Trenchbillies

      It's worst idea too.

Aaron Springer lost himself. Feels like a monkey's paw for the guy behind some of my favorite failed pilots make something as fricking lame as Billy Dilley.

    It was okay.

It’s really clear that Zeke, Marsha, and the people of Subterranea-Tania were the ones carrying the show.

Billy was just an unlikable protag and the worst episodes are the ones where he fully takes the spotlight while Zeke and Marsha only briefly appear or not at all.

Good. I had no idea Springer had stayed on SpongeBob for so long, so Billy Dilley really sullied my opinion of him after admiring his previous works. What's crazy is that he made Billy fresh after working on Gravity Falls and the Mickey shorts. I have no idea what he was thinking when given the opportunity to run his own show.

    >Marsha's Super Duper Subterranean Summer

    >Show has 22 minutes like The Owl House and Gravity Falls

    >Show focuses on Marsha and like every DTVA protagonist, she is awkward and quirky but the twist is that she is a "yes man" type of person, easy to manipulate which leads her being paired up with Billy and Zeke for the school science fair by the school's newspaper

    >Billy is just the comic relief of the show, Zeke always looks at Marsha as a lonely girl seeking attention and trought the series they become loyal friends and a found family with Billy being a lonely kid and Zeke being a trouble maker.

    >Going to Subterra-tania plays as usual

    >Show is about Marsha learning all summer that she dosn't need to be an "all yes" type of person, each episode has Marsha meeting the cast of the final series and finding the scraps to go back to Earth.

    >Billy Dilley's focused episodes are mostly b plots while Zeke episodes are mostly a plots

Not even for fap bait, I just like cute girl shows. Why would I want to watch a show about an ugly moron like Billy when Marsha is cuter and could have a more likeable personality

it's actually insane to greenlit more episodes out of primos than a cartoon by an industry veteran who worked on spongebob, not even a 2nd season greenlit alongside the first like most shows of its era.

Do you know anything about this show other than that it exists? It was unceremoniously dumped and then quickly forgotten, they had already decided against a second season before the first had even finished production.

Yeah I actually watched it when it was new and I thought it was fairly decent despite being admittedly flawed.

better than literally ANY cartoon aired on Disney Channel/XD since 2018.

This show was in production right around the time when Disney switched to exclusively making shows aimed at a female audience. It's possible that a male-oriented Billy Dilley inspired less confidence among DTVA execs even before the switch, leading to a smaller episode order. It's even possible the episode order was cut down to 13 mid-production due to poor audience focus screenings or something. All we know is that Disney unceremoniously dumped this show's episodes with minimal marketing, sure-fire evidence that they had no faith that Billy Dilley would attract an audience; who knows what really went on behind the scenes?

I heard it was actually pretty decent, but it had the same problem as Uncle Grandpa where the main characters scared the SHIT out of anyone who might've given a frick, simply because the MC is ugly as shit..
UG himself isn't as repulsive, and UG the show is 100x better though.

I like this show quite a lot, actually. People hate on it too much, because it came out at the worst possible time it could have. But if it was made in the late 90s or early 2000s, it would've been a success and viewed as a classic. It's a similar case to Uncle Grandpa, although unfortunately this show is so obscure I don't see it being vindicated as UG has.

I really am curious how Springer feels about the response—or lack thereof—to his only show. Even back before Disney started releasing TV promos, I had a bad feeling about the main kid's design and was praying that this was another "don't judge a book by its cover" situation. Turns out Billy was just as obnoxious as I'd feared.

I bet it doesn't bother him that much, he still has a lot of great work behind him even if his own show was eh

You're probably right. Still, as a longtime fan of his, it does bum me out that the one pitch of his that went to series turned out to be a dud. I'm def gonna revisit Billy Dilley at some point, but as it stands, I remember feeling underwhelmed by it as a whole. Even the comedy could be so-so.
