Guy in the middle is the MC. In season 1 he graduated university with a scarer job at Monster Inc, but his first day is when Mike and Sully take over.

That wasn't implied, he's obviously created an army of banished monsters to get revenge including the Skunk Ape (who looks like the Abominable Snowman, only black with a white stripe on his back and has uneven teeth and he's voiced by Jim Cummings using his Raymond the Firefly voice)
