Anyway. I remember napping in front of the TV, when it happened. My brother woke me up, saying that something is happening on the news. He had heard it on Counter-Strike. But apparently it wasn't anything important enough to stop playing, LOL. I however changed the channel to EuroNews, where they were showing the (second) plane hitting the tower on an endless loop. Still kinda half-asleep, I kept wondering why they were showing an action movie like that.
It was only a little later in the day, when the towers had fallen, that the thing really hit me, and I was afraid that soon a war would break out. Like, as if I could see missiles flying past my window, or something. But none of that happened, of course. People were just really shocked, and also kind of anxious.
i was home sick that day, playing and legos or something. Didn't understand the impact at the time
I watched it as a kid. I am not American so I remember people cheering and lighting off fireworks after the second plane hit.
It was so wild, the guy next to me did a kickflip and yelled out "Death to America" while throwing up the horns

we where absolutely saying that back then, we where all middle schoolers at the time but every boy immediately started saying they wanted to join the military, (I wanted the navy I remember, guess I was a homosexual lol) and that we nuke "them". We didn't even know who did it until they conveniently pointed us at someone to be angry at.
You can imagine how that sort of national anger can be used to gen up military recruitment. If dumb little kids are instantly that gung ho, I can't imagine what actual recruitment branches where like that day.
It was normal people talking like normal people. The /misc/ mind virus was still decades away from rotting everyones brains. Impossible comprehend for current internet users I'm sure.

I was an adult the day it happened, so my memory is better than expected on the subject.
After the first plane hit, most of the local news types (who knew nothing like the rest of us), tried to fill with theories on how it might NOT be terror. One tried to claim it may have been an auto-pilot error; another claimed distraction. But none of those worked because it was a completely clear sky
It was a Tuesday, of course people were working. Not a lot of work got done after the second plane hit; but most of us heard about it on our way to work
The strangest part was watching all of the TV channels switch over to the same image. So you had cable with 130 channels; and as each media conglomerate saw what was happening, you'd have 20 or 30 channels at a time switching over to a news feed.
By about 11am, you could channel up through all 130 channels, with the image never changing

I was about 9 or so when that happened. Wasn't a school day for me and I went to the movies with a friend and I remember being mad that everything was closed and also being mad that even the cartoon channels were talking about 9/11. Didn't really understand the impact until years later

I was in 6th grade and therefor smarter than anyone else in the world at the time. I remember arguing loudly with the teacher about how the hijackers surely jumped out of the airplane with parachutes before it hit and there is literally no way they didn't because I couldn't comprehend the idea of suicide at the time. I even went up in front of the class and pointed at the tv pretending to see a parachute when they would show the footag. And then a girl made fun of me for sweating so much from getting mad.

In my opinion, the only reason the attacked worked is because it relied on going against what was standard hijacked procedure.
There were a lot of planes hijacked in the 70's, and eventually, passengers and crew figured out the procedure:

The reason the first 2 planes were successful is because people hadn't figured out that the terrorists were operating under different rules. After the second plane (and with cell phones) everyone still in the air learned that the rules had changed, which is why the passengers of the third plane fought back; and why (following 9/11) half a dozen would be terrorists got their ass kicked by passengers when they tried to start shit

I got woke up earlier than I usually get up because my dad was making noise about this. I just flipped to cable as I got ready for school then fricked off. We got to watch the news instead of doing work for the first two periods of the day which was baller because it went right into nutrition. Form 3rd period on it was a normal school day which sucked. Can't remember if Pokemon was compromised or not that afternoon but I probably went home, flipped to Toonami and got on AIM. Frick, middle school was great.

I remember when the news made a big deal about showing Independence Day on TV. Also there was so much misinformation that got swept away like the media was claiming bombs were found on the brooklyn bridge but either were lying or glowies covered it up
