Nobody 'deserves' anything. Good or ill. It's just the way things turn out. There's no magical force in the universe that is going to make bad people suffer and good getting everything in life. It's more a matter of how much you enjoy something happening to someone and I would say a lot of people would be glad about what happened to him.

it's almost like, people can make educated and logical judgements until they are emotionally invested and let their instincts take over the thinking. In other words, be happy that there are people who are able think objectively when you are in a state of mind that can't think reasonably about a situation.

No, it sounds like some people are content to act like smug homosexuals until it happens to them. If your philosophy falls apart the moment something happens to you, it's not a good philosophy.

Cartman’s always been the butt of the joke, he’s the most blatant buttmonkey strawman ever put on television. In 26 seasons I can name maybe 5 moments he got the last laugh. Every other time it’s him getting btfo or beaten up or humiliated until he cries like a pig by Kyle or Wendy or Michelle Obama.
This one specific instance was just a shining example of how self-righteous the show is.

Yeah, it's weird. Cartman might burn out and be a loser, but he wouldn't be a rock-bottom homeless loser. He's more likely to be the sort of guy that makes it on crypto, loses it in some sort of tax fraud settlement, and is selling used cars than an outright bum.

why do cartman fangirls keep pretending he's some machiavellian genius destined for greatness when the show regularly shows him to be an emotionally volatile dumbass.

            Anonymous

It's the fault of inconsistent writing. Cartman is just as regularly shown to be an intelligent social climber fluent in multiple languages and with a creatively ambitious mind. The tragedy of this not helping him achieve greatness is part of the fun, though.

            Anonymous

I'm not sure how anyone got the impression he was some kind of genius. He was always a lazy selfish mama's boy that was destined to become a middle aged neet living at home eating cereal like he was still 8.

              Anonymous

That would be the most accurate portrayal. Middle age Cartman is still living the exact same life he had at age 10. Living in the same room, watching the same cartoons, in the same house with his elderly mother still taking care of him.

While the rest of the kids grew up got jobs, were married etc.

            Anonymous

the show shows him to be the most ambitious of the kids and the only one who ever gets anything started or even attempte anything instead of sitting on his butt fawning over what an amazing person his authors think he is. Kids start suing the school for millions? Cartman thought it up. Crack Baby, Talent Agency, Redskins, Burger selling, literally every single one of their businesses? Cartman created them. Stem cell research needs to be made legal? Cartman goes to the UN and pleas his case before an international assembly. Cartman and Kenny want to be Nascar drivers? Cartman becomes a Nascar driver by doing something while Kenny throws a tantrum that doing nothing got him nowhere. Kids want to make a band? Kyle and Stan sit around in Randy’s garage doing fricking nothing, Cartman comes up with a brilliant plan to advertise a Christian Rockband to skyrocket their recognition.
Every time it’s Cartman. And every time he loses not because he’s stupid but because his universe conspires to shit on him every time at the verge of greatness because he represnts groups of people his authors don’t like.

Well after the show got huge, Matt and Trey moved to LA. And the rest of the show was a commentary on two small town, mostly conservative minded guys looking at the ridiculous shit LA film types say, think, and do. They took their own views as old fashioned common sense and the rest of the world was bugfrick nuts.

Parker also talked about how he had to change up what he said and did to keep shocking everyone. Like around 2006 he started telling people George Bush is doing a great job, just to keep shocking the Hollywood types he ran into all the time.

Because Cartman would absolutely end up being an alcoholic loser hobo who has alienated everyone from his life. He’s an insufferable butthole and that would end up sabotaging everything he does when he stops being a kid and has to actually interact with the real world consequences

They were just imaginative and kind of dickish little kids until 2005 or so when almost all the adult animated series massively dialed up the edgy shock humor. South Park went down the same road as Family Guy in not really having a joke or punchline any longer, just trying to show off how far they went with a situation or say something totally out there that no one in the audience would expect a cartoon character to say.

This is a dumb question because it makes a lot of really moronic implications about the nature of the universe and whether anyone deserves anything. Because intrinsically no one deserves anything but we have empathy for other people, and if you're asking did he deserve his fate because of who he was at 10, probably not, but who he was at 10 informed the person he was at 11 and 12 and so on. You're an ongoing product

He does, specifically after he chose to rewrite history and erase his family because Kyle couldn't let go and Stan was bitter.
Cartman earned his happy ending, and then squandered it for people who didn't deserve it.

Hitler could have been a regular artist if events had unfolded slightly different, doesn't mean his death for genocide isn't deserved anymore.
This Cartman remained the sociopathic butthole he always was, thus he deserved being a homeless drunk

I don't mind the ending (or anything about modern south park because it's really mediocre overall) but yeah, it's fricked up that he had to give up his happy family and fulfilling life just so everyone else could stop being miserable. I can see why people are upset about how the episode ends.
