I don't blame studios for trying to distance themselves when the bad news came to light. I'm more surprised that they are going without him since he was 70% of the cast rather than going scorched earth on anything he touched.

Are you new or something? Everyone knew about it back then. It was not a secret and most people jumped off at the start of season 3. They had female writers suddenly write for Summer and Beth and they just didn't need fleshing out as if it was a sitcom.
Yeah reading and learning all of this it does all make sense. Season two did feel more Harmony than it did Roiland. Definitely had a Community vibe to it especially the multiple timelines and parasites. Still loved it though.

It's incredibly convenient for big corpos, isn't it? They have a relatively successful show controlled by someone they don't like, they only have to accuse him of something awful, and suddenly they get more control over the show and as a bonus they can pay the guy much less money since he's immediately fired from his active roles. And the best part is, they don't even have to hire him back after the accusations are disproved.
I'm sure such a system will never be abused though. All corporations are good. If Roiland was accused, fired, and exonerated but not hired back, it's just a completely innocent coincidence.

“Wrongful termination” only covers being dismissed on grounds of civil rights issues (race, religion, gender, sexual preference, etc). Bosses can fire someone for literally any reason otherwise. Roiland was generating a lot of bad press which was bad for business. It was a good decision to part ways. He likely got a fat severance.

However I find it funny how quickly public opinion on him shifted, in a completely inverse way from Harmon. Five years ago he was the improv genius that made Rick and Morty into the hit it was and gave soul to the show, while Harmon was the creep that abused his wife and basically had nothing to do with the writing anymore.
Now Roiland is vilified, treated as this disposable voice actor that didn't contribute anything to the creative vision of the show since forever, while the other guy is the real mastermind who's genius plan is made real by the team of fresh blood writers that came in since season 3.

The reason I watched rick and morty in the first place was his silliness and voices.
That doesn't necessarily mean I like or dislike him as a person, but that's what I wanted to watch and without him those things will mean I'm far less interested in the show going forward.

We don’t know. The case was dropped due to “insufficient evidence” which doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything. It could be as simple as the victim decided against testifying because of all the attention the trial was getting. For a lot of victims, it’s a grueling process to relive the trauma and they could have also feared being dozed and having rabid fans stalking her.

Only as the voices of Rick and Morty. Most of his stuff was extremely edgy or played out on the second go-round (Interdimensional Cable 2, Morty's Mindblowers).
