>Make a character Asian for the sake of diversity >choose the character with the ridiculous high tech rice hat to make the Asian
They should have given him buck teeth and it'd be perfect
imagine his first day on set. he is super excited for his big break as a reoccurring character in a major production show backed by Disney. Sits down for make up and slowly realizes they are painting his asian skin yellow and putting him in a rice hat costume, for a sci fi outer space show. Over come by powerlessness as pointing out the obvious would only get him fired and black listed by Disney.
I don't understand how star wars can create characters with this type of design if they want to sell toys, I'm not a fan of marvel but superhero toys are much more attractive to children than fricking finn, rose or this guy. who the frick buys this kind of stuff
why don't they try to copy the 40k style?
>I don't understand how star wars can create characters with this type of design if they want to sell toys >who the frick buys this kind of stuff
nobody, thats who, toys r us literally went out of business because disney flopped the star wars merch so hard with the nu wars trilogy.
>what is the function of having a hat like that?
basically this
To differentiate the inquisitors so they can sell toys.
>To differentiate the inquisitors so they can sell toys.
but star wars bombed so hard they dont even really make toys anymore except for collector manchildren.
one concept of character design is the 'silhouette'. a well designed character should still be instantly recognizable by its silhouette. BAD designers take this to mean "give the character a goofy as frick hat to make it unique". and those bad designers are running rampant in star wars since the disney purchase.
Lucasfilm thinks people are just going to eat up whatever. And they're half right about it. Though they were close to getting realized when they started calling anyone who didn't like the show racist.
this "helmet" design is stupid both in an animated kids show AND in a live action show. there was no way to make it look good in live action because it already looked stupid as frick even in the cartoon. making the guy a fat green skinned chinese man certainly didnt help either.
Not to mention they almost CGI'd over him until Werner Herzog ordered them not to
>mention they almost CGI'd over him until Werner Herzog ordered them not to
based schizo kino director.
Yeed is a really shitty puppet* that is constantly CGI'd over.
*the puppet is built fine, but forgot to give it any weight so it looks like characters are holding a creature made of foam latex
He's at the end of his life and he Boba still shot him decades ago. That arc happened even though it wasn't finished. He also thinks Boba is being a hypocrite and doesn't like it. Cad is essentially Boba's uncle as he was Jango's friend.
It's been a long time since I've seen the Clone Wars show, guess I forgot the dynamic. On a semi-related note, I just played this for the first time in probably 20 years and it's /comfy/ as hell. It's a shame Jango and the Episode II era in general were dropped like a rock.
>Cast an asian to play an alien with yellow face and a rice hat >All the other inquisitors keep commenting on the black inquisitor impulsiveness and her stench of her ambition.
How are they getting away with it?
The original character design evokes imagery of deadly, deep sea monsters, like a shark, crab, manta ray, or something like that. He looks cold and calculating
The live action one looks like they dressed a guy up as a racist stereotype and accidentally lost him in the desert for 2 days. His eyes even look like he's been crying for fricks sake
>Make a character Asian for the sake of diversity

And giving him yellow skin even though that's not how it was in the cartoon. He is supposed to have sharp teeth though.
all they needed was to give him one of those floating rickshaws
holy shit was that actually a thing ever in the star wars universe are there really hover-rickshaws
>holy shit was that actually a thing ever in the star wars universe are there really hover-rickshaws
yes
That's cool though.
Giving him yellow skin was a bananas move.

Reeeeevaaaaaaa
what is the function of having a hat like that?

Contains his wetware
protection from the sun
It has a radar inside, either that or starlink ,or maybe directv
part-time job as rice farmer.

The minute George left and took all the passion with him.
they're too cheap to do proper aliens

Why try when that is enough for soys to go crazy, even here on Cinemaphile.
Because sois will watch regardless. Obi Wan looks cheaper than the recent CW shows, what a fricking embarrassment.
Farscape looks better and its over 20 years old
insane how disney has only created one good puppet character so far, baby yeed, and almost entirely on accident.

Can't tell if you're joking
hes not
>Create an Asian caricature
>Call people racist if they hate the show because they clearly hate the Black
Hmm
My thoughts exactly. Grand Inquisitor is the same way. Hell, Cad Bane was like that too.
Not even the worst offense
Live action looks better
Cad looks good. What the frick? we've seen Duros in live action and cad is an updated look to their old design, they aren't woodblock stylized.
Why was he so angry in the Boba Fett show?
He's at the end of his life and he Boba still shot him decades ago. That arc happened even though it wasn't finished. He also thinks Boba is being a hypocrite and doesn't like it. Cad is essentially Boba's uncle as he was Jango's friend.

Whoa me too. I love the verticality in the levels
cos hes in the boba fett show
You all hated rebels when it aired, now pretend you care about how any of it's characters look in live action.
Rebels looked awful but it had some good ideas.
It looked very good late season 2-4, imo. There are some great lighting and cinematography in seasons 3 and 4 especially.

Doesn't matter you gays will still watch it anyway
