Did people only like this shit because of the incessant MJ-wank?

Did people only like this shit because of the incessant MJ-wank? The Kindred storyline has to be one of the most convoluted pieces of trash I've read in modern comics.

When you read it as it was coming out you could tell the exact moment editorial derailed everything. Reading it now as a complete run after the fact of course it's nonsensical. You can't discern the moment it got sabotaged as easily

I did read it as it came out. What changes do you think editorial made?

I really believe Kindred was supposed to be Harry and it wasn't supposed to be much deeper than that. Dive deeper into the consequences of OMD on warping reality where it made a "new" Harry. So it wasn't a fact that Harry either didn't originally die or died and came back it was that Harry died and OMD warped reality and made a "new" one. Kindred would be the OG real Harry back from the dead. Would have ended with them un-warping reality and undoing a lot of OMD changes but they got cold feet and editorial said "no, no, let's undo Gwen Stacy's kids instead, that's a story everybody hates but is safer to change"

There is no possibility whatsoever that ever got approved by anyone at Marvel.

when they started doing a nonsensical amount of side issues that amounted to nothing like Last Remains and Sinister War. Genuinely insane how much you would have to shell out to follow spencer's run in full.

          >Last Remains
I have a strong feeling like that's exactly where the run shifted from being good (by the standards of Spider-Man comics in 2020 at least) to utter shit.
As if all this CONFESS shit and OMD references scared the frick out of editorial and forced them to step in. Maybe that's why the ending of LR feels so abrupt and out of nowhere.

It was good at first, but third way through it was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally obvious they didn't know what the frick they were supposed to do

    >HURR GUISE, KINDRED IS, LIKE, SUPER MYSTERIOUS
    >You will never guess who they are
    >It is HARRY OSBORN
    >What do you mean shit makes no fricking sense?
    >Okay okay so maybe, just maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe it is not Harry
    >BUT HE IS IN SUSPENDED ANIMATION TUBE NOW SO WE WILL NEVER KNOWN
    >Keep reading though, we might reveal it eventually

Kinda amazing how they managed to keep this shit going for like 3 years feeding people one nothing burger after another though. Comics are really for morons

When this was coming out, a lot of people were acting like Spencer was the second coming of Christ and on some communities saying you didn't like Spencer's run was tantamount to heresy.

Huh, I found it drawn out, idiotic, and boring. But I hate decompressed comics so maybe that was just me.

Te decompression was certainly part of it. I really hate that most writers seem to be writing for the trades rather than telling single/double issue adventures with hints of a through plot. Does every story really need to be five issues? I mean really now. Most of the actual meat of most of these plots could barely fill two.

Spider-Man "fans" don't really give a shit about the comic, the characters or even Spidey himself. They just wanna play house and read a bunch of corny "romantic" shit written by 50 year old people. This shit is like The Sims for them. It won't be fixed until MJ dies or leaves again.

No, the first couple of stories were fun. I liked the doppelganger stuff.

Because after 10 years of Slott it did indeed seem better.

It sort of felt like he was trying to do for Kindred what Stern did for Hobby. Only not as good. Though perhaps no less fricked by editorial.

    >There is absolutely no way that Spencer was stringing us along and only made shit up as he went
    >It is all the editorial's fault

You poor poor misguided gullible fricks

A lot of the run felt like he was trying to clean up a lot of the mess from before. Which in a way was appreciated but also kind of boring ironically. Like there wasn't really any good or new ideas. It wasn't fixing shit by telling better stories, it was "fixing shit" by calling attention to what was broken and going THERE ALL BETTER. It felt very inorganic.

Kindred dragged way too long, but the side plots were fun. I liked the stuff with Janice and Randy. Peter rooming with Boomerang was funny.

    >MJ-wank
MJ spent the book locked in her house o r MIA filming a movie, only morons liked that.
Also, there are worse thing than MJwank and Kindred, for example the sineater, Kraven or chamaleon
