NTA but this was a good town until the clowns moved in. Now they just get drunk and beat up based mimes.

this was one of the strangest episodes of PPG, or at least one of the worst morals

      Anonymous

To be entirely fair, the girls weren't around for any of that. All they saw was an evil mime turn into a clown, for all they knew said clown became an evil mime on purpose and was going to start doing some evil shit, so they thought they had to act quick.
Future episode showed Rainbow out and about, so he probably got a plea deal once everyone involved was informed of the situation.

Eh, if they had called the police they would have kicked his ass, then shot him or strangled him him to death. The powerpuff girls went easier on him than the cops would have and he actually got to go through due process. The only way the clown would have had it easier is if this was set in Uvalde TX.
The fact that he went to prison wasn't on the PPG. That's the work of the Townsville DA and Judge.

It's completely, deliberately immoral as a joke.

This. It's fricking funny because it set up expectations that it then suddenly eschewed.
On the one hand, /co seems to be slipping steadily into this moral-homosexualry christ-tard direction, but on the other, they still start threads about what you would do if an attractive character was your daughter.
I know /co contains multitudes, but I get the distinct impression this place exists just because people are looking for reasons to be outraged.

      >get magically transformed into a monster in a freak chemical accident
      >forced to do the exact opposite of what you lived your entire life for, causing suffering when you only ever wanted to bring joy
      >finally get cured
      >try to thank your saviors
      >they snap all your fingers, break your nose, break your teeth, and send you to jail
      it's not fair rainbros

As a kid I was completely dumbfounded by the ending. I could not understand how this was the natural conclusion.
I appreciate it more now because it's just meant to be funny and I'm not a Mr. Enter-tier autist who hates "mean-spiritedness".

      >it's just meant to be funny
But it's not funny. That's the problem.

Ignoring the obvious fact that it was played for laughs. It actually does have a really good moral that children should be taught.

That you can fall into "evil" through no real fault of your own. And that the justice system is meant to punish, not to rehabilitate. Thinking that people just randomly decide to be evil using their "free will", and that every evildoer deserves only the harshest punishment and that the hand of justice never makes errors. Is how children and invalids view the world. The 'joke' is essentially a mockery of how fools view justice. Where intentions don't matter and draconian punishment is dealt based only on actions committed.

Another thing it illustrates is that people don't take others perspectives. The PPG's didn't see everything that happened to Rainbow, they only saw a monster go on a rampage. The viewer occupies a special position and gets to see the entire picture of circumstance and intention. So when Rainbow gets thrashed at the end we see injustice, but from the PPG's perspective a fair retributive punishment was meted out for Rainbow's actions.

Beating the absolute shit out of Mojo Jojo over candy was pretty bad but Rainbow was bleached and then fixed up with the power of music, back to normal, then clobbered. They beat up a helpless clown for what he did under the influence of corruption.

that heavily depends on how much money and influence they have. If they can afford good lawyers and seem like a rich white dude, they can probably beat it. If they're poor and/or any sort of minority, they'll be lucky to escape the death sentence.

That's for his lawyer to argue. Also remember that few people likely knew of his origins; for all they knew, he was just some random nutbar rampaging. Which is literally a daily occurrence in townsville, so cut the citizens and the PPG some slack.

Rainbow the Clown obviously loves to bring joy and laughter to people, he devoted his life to it. He got turned into a horrible twisted monster that is his exact opposite. Pretty much the same thing that happened to all his victims is the same thing that happened to him. He's more like patient zero of a virus than an actual criminal

"Ladies and Gentleman of the Court Room, my client known to many as Rainbow the Clown in the early afternoon of the monochrome incident was just as much a victim to it as we all were. When that tanker carrying several hundred gallons of bleach splashed over my client, it was not through his choice that he became the monster we all remember, and yet our local heroines, sworn to protect our grand city from many, many threats, the cute little girls known as the Powerpuff girls viciously attacked my client AFTER he was knowingly no longer a threat, Exhibit A) a photo of his right hand and all his broken fingers. Now Mr. Rainbow, can you state to the court how long it took for your dominant hand to fully heal from these injuries?

            "12 weeks sir."
12 WEEKS! Thats 3 months without the use of his dominant hand! Unable to blow up balloons, write with a pencil, play instruments, and a whole host of other hand focused actions. And did the Poweruff girls visit him ONCE during his stay in the hospital to make amends for their gross brutality? Mr Rainbow in this list showing all your visitors during your stay in Townsville Hospital do the Powerpuff Girls come up once?

            "No sir"

            I rest my case.
