My main issue was the stupid instances of a delay occurring only for the same result to come, such as Yuri betraying joyce/murray/hopper only for him to in the end have to help them get hopper out of the prison, like did they really need to FILL or something if the season was this long??? Then the shit with max, shoulda died, didnt because bs last second heroics, take 2: dies, but no no no there cant be real stakes for the characters, so even further last second heroics must ensue that are, funnily enough, even beyond the "last second". Like c'mon man, its telling how good a show is when a character dies and i feel personally attacked and devastated, please dont write your show for the redditors who are gonna boycott if their favorite characterino dies

Yes and no. The time spent in Hawkins and with Eleven was necessary, but the Russia plotline was completely unnecessary and the California plotline exists only to give now irrelevant characters something to do. The solution is not to trim scenes, but to cut entire plotlines and characters.
