Unironically the reason for so much of what you see going on these days is simply israelites trying to prevent a moralised white nation from ever existing again because they fear what humans are capable of

they just designed around a big planet, it's likely it cost around the same as the death star.

it's on planet so it's fast to build. takes longer to build stuff in space.
if you have enough money you could make earth like that in 40 years

How do they even move this thing around?
Do they move its sun too, or does it just freeze and all the life on the surface dies once you move it?

it can shoot across the galaxy. Its beam goes into hyperspace and comes out where they want it to, then splits in midspace and pinpoint blasts multiple planets they want to destroy

this is bullshit they came with after someone pointed out that the beam couldnt travel faster than light and it would be an useless weapon if you want to attack anything that is in another sistem.

The funniest thing is that everyone in the galaxy can look up at the sky and see the beam traveling to its destination in real time.

Seriously, how does this thing work? The Death Star was ultimately a ship which could move freely through space, but a planet? It is not supposed to be locked into its own orbit from its nearby sun. Imagine having to change the attack coordinates on your target with every move around the sun. And how on earth does this pose a threat to more distant planetary systems? Do the blasts it launches travel through hyperspace? Isn't jj supposed to be a science nerd?

Does Nano technology exist in the Star Wars universe? Building Starkiller base seems beyond human capabilities.

Why does Hollywood avoid Grey Goo scenarios?

star war was always fantasy in space. but the first movies were good enough for people to suspend the disbelief.

Not really, just mentioned once in an old now legends book. SW predates nanotech in scifi and they haven't bothered to really implement it.

Don't forget that the Emperor, on some random "sith planet" conjured up like a hundred thousand star destroyers that didn't even have to be manned. Also don't forget that EACH of these "sith star destroyers" had a planet-destroying weapon on it that didn't even need to charge up, it just fired a shot instantly that could destroy a planet.

So basically the Emperor, through the First Order, had them construct this for 40 years, knowing all that time that he also has a sith fleet where every star destroyer in it also has the capability to destroy planets in an instant.

I tried watching ep9 again after completely erasing it from memory.

    >Palpatine was alive all along on a secret planet that you need ancient artifacts obtained in Indiana Jones-styled adventures to reach
    >on this secret planet he managed to construct ten thousand star destroyers out of thin air
    >each of these star destroyers has an energy weapon that can destroy an entire planet in seconds
    >Kylo Ren still trying to be an edgelord, then he stops being an edgelord, then he dies unceremoniously
    >Palpatine is not actually Palpatine but some weird gestalt being that is a combination of all preceding sith lords and he wants to take over Rey's body and absorb her as well
    >wait nvm he realized Kylo and Rey are a "dyad" and can heal people so he wants himself healed instead
    >wait nvm he's dead because Rey had two lightsabers to deflect his lightning

    >Kylo never really reflects or acknowledges any of this and Rey repeatedly tries to communicate with him normally as if he's just a tantruming kid
    >in the end he just decides to help her out because he changes his mind but is just killed off (even though they'll bring him back because why not)
    >Hux is later on played as a buffoon character that is actually a spy and dies unceremoniously in a gag kill.

These two killed billions and it's just played off as a joke or horseplay.

The fact that the main threat of the first Disney Wars movie was... another Death Star but BIGGER made me give up on the sequels altogether. Complete fricking creative bankruptcy, I'm glad I've never seen episode 8 or 9 and I wish I could erase 7 from my brain.

To be fair the Death Star took less time. The Star Killer base took 40 years but was largely built into a planet using it as framework for the weapon and the surface for installations while the Death Star was a complete base in of itself roughly 5x smaller than the Star Killer.

By end of Ep 3 we see the framework is already largely done. It's reasonable to assume Sheev couldn't possibly enact the safe construction of it outside planetary safety until he gained total power. We also have the basis that its true construction didn't begin until episode 3 due to the building plans being merely data in episode 2. Luke being 19 while the Empire was already able to enforce total fear in the galaxy implies the Death Star completed roughly around the same time it was used (but certainly a functional base years before).

So with all of this in consideration the Death Star took about 22-24 years to be build. The internals of the Star Killer weapon occupied one side and only about 20% of the satellite it was built into which, itself, was 5x Death Star. So, really, the weapon/technology aspect of the Star Killer was overall less surface area as the Death Star. So, honestly, the Death Star being constructed so quickly EVEN if we tack on the idea that Sheev started its construction in pieces on Separatist planets at the star of the Separatist conflicts it was still built exceptionally fast compared to the Star Killer. In addition, it was costructed in pieces assembled in space and (possibly) built outwards from there while the Star Killers construction was far more convenient.
