Did you like Prometheus

I've heard a lot of people say they like Prometheus if it didn't suddenly connect itself to the Alien franchise, for those who think like this, why? I like that they added further lore

      >The Engineers design is Kino
People like you are why I've given up on Alien films. You enable Ridley Scott's moronic behavior and bad filmmaking. Hope Romulus and the new show crater and burn killi9ng the IP permanently. that's right, I'd rather see it dead than in the hands of "people" like you.

The Engineer design is objectively kino. It could absolutely work amazing as its own scifi series disconnect from Alien. But you sound just like a seething moron whose opinion is worth little to nothing, so you won't understand anything.

I liked the alien connection and how stressful it got when things started going to shit. It's a bit too stupid on many occasions though

I had to cope and start thinking of it as a cautionary tale for explorers of mysterious new places. I bet you could stop a moron about to make an obvious mistake by mentioning this movie

I hated this movie. It seemed like the writers and/or producers sat around saying "wouldn't it be cool if" and then threw everything they came up with into the movie with no attempt to build a convincing or cohesive story or narrative.

yeah the middle part of this movie is a fricking disgrace, it plays like a mini series of random events

People's standards are too high. Alien is basically a slasher series. If you go in expecting people to act all moronic and get fricked up in gruesome ways like it's Friday the 13th or Final Destination you realize it's actually great. Covenant was even better in this regard.

There was no further lore. What they did was stupid and trivialized both movies. In Alien, that's THE FIRST ever encounter with an two alien species. NEVER before. An enormous space jockey that has no legs, is melded to its chair, and been dead so long its fossilized. Then the xenomorph eggs. Not any black goo that does random crap. In Prometheus: no actually the alien ship just crashed a few years ago no thousands! And it wasn't an enormous alien, it was a slightly larger human in a suit and he had legs you just didn't see them! And they had seen aliens lots of times before in all these new movies we'll make! YAWN boring.

That destroyed any hope for Prometheus/Covenant being good which it did have an interesting premise. But now it had to shoehorn in connections to alien and contrive ways for it to make sense. Even though it was EXTREMELY obvious Ridley did not want to make an Alien movie so everything was half ass and lackluster then he'll get mad at fans for expecting to see an Alien movie. He wanted to make a 'humans meet their creators who turn out to hate them paralleling a gay android hating its creator' story. That's the story Ridley loves and keeps making.

They fricked up at the start by combining the temple idea and the derelict. When the eggs were in a temple, when the alien was reproducing through a creepy ceremony it made more consistent sense. Not much, but more than having what was in Alien. They shit the bed even harder with the Queen Alien, Aliens as a whole gives you the foundation for the mess it's in now.

They had the answers to the alien lifecycle, dropped them from production and put a piss poor substitute in place.

You could sort of answer it by saying the the derelict ship crew were trying to steal the eggs, their greed and stupidity got the better of them and they became infested through mishandling. It'd then be necessary to put the alien temple etc. back into the story and start fresh from there while kicking Cameron's motherhood wank fantasy to the curb. As long as people cling to "Aliens" though, it's always going to be fricked.

That's fine. It should just be treated like the alternate timeline/reboot that it is. It may have actually been salvaged if they had made a good followup sequel with Shaw and David meeting some actual interesting engineers rather then destroying all that to just make a "psycho android uses Aliens to kill humans" story

Typical complete hack movie. Perfectly fine first and second act, but the third act nothing gets answered. It's a magic trick without a prestige because Ridley Scott isn't smart enough to come up with a script that actually has answers to the questions it brings up.

But they decided to do the exact same thing that upset everyone again and expect it to work amazingly well this time. Unsurprisingly, it did not. Now it's spelled out for you.

Trying to retcon Xenomorph origins as a crazy synth experiment was extremely cringe, not to mention how much it fricked up the Xenomorphs' long implied ancient nature. You now have to explain how Alien happened with the fricking modern xenomorph eggs on a derelict Engineer ship.

      >Well, we know it’s not a direct prequel to “Alien,” and as Ridley Scott recently explained, it won’t be until the possible third or fourth sequel when everything will connect to his sci-fi classic. It’s a world that wants to stand on its own while also eventually fitting into a larger universe.
According to that earlier article, they were going to tie it directly to Alien in the third or fourth movie kek

Said it earlier. They fricked up by abandoning the idea of the Aliens and their breeding temple. The derelict ship being an interloper that makes the same mistake as the humans makes sense.
