The first arc of Bleach does give off alot of Danny Phantom vibes, that stops when the plot starts to happen which is a blessing and a curse in it's own way but eh.
It's a continuation since they acknowledge Tucker being a mayor and the Danny statues. They could easily say that Vlad escaped the collision at the last second or something.
And how is that? I mean, did they go back in time in order to use the Disasteroid to eliminate Dark Danny, so it never threatened the Earth in the first place?

I think he's always been like this considering it was Steve Marmel who made Danny Phantom what it is and it went downhill after he got fired and Butch was given full control.
I'm cool with a mix of ghosts literally born in the ghost dimension and certain humans who are transformed into ghosts/sent to the ghost dimension after death. Basically those humans were infused with ghost energy at some point in their life creating a ghost counterpart within them like the one we know Danny has within his body.
The comic un-retcons that and describes ghosts as manifestations of human emotion

At the end of the comic, the current timeline is unstable and falling apart due to Dark Danny shenanigans, so Clockwork creates two new stable timelines for Danny to choose from: one timeline that continues where the original left off but Danny loses his powers, and the other where Phantom Planet never happened.

Then why even offer the choice? Maybe if it was Clockwork offering to reset Danny's life to the start of the show but with him not getting powers this time, it would sound at least a little tantalizing to consider accepting.
Maybe this is actually some kind of test from Clockwork. I mean, just like he tested him in "The Ultimate Enemy", to see if he could spare Danny's life to save the future if young Danny would chose better.
Maybe Clockwork will be eventually able to fix the "Phantom Planet" timeline, but only if Danny is willing to keep fighting to the very end.
Then why even offer the choice? Maybe if it was Clockwork offering to reset Danny's life to the start of the show but with him not getting powers this time, it would sound at least a little tantalizing to consider accepting.

The town hasn't hated Phantom in general since Reign Storm, at worst accepting him as part of the ghostly mayhem in their lives, and his parents aren't exactly the sharpest of threats. Danny already can handle that, so what does he get out of the other choice?

They don't spend too much time agonizing over the decision though. It was clearly just an easy way to get rid of the last episode while also being a direct continuation.

I have no issues with retcons, but I can't avoid to be a little like the Punisher in situations like this. Dan Phantom destroyed his world, so he deserves oblivion.
