    >The Marvels has collected $6.5 Million in previews in USA and is headed for $45 to $50 Million in USA in its opening weekend. Tracking for this movie had started with $75 to $80 Million which was reduced to $60 Million but the opening weekend is looking even lower. Worldwide The Marvels is expected to open $120 to $140 Million with $80 Million in Overseas.

    >This would be the one of the lowest opening for a Marvel movie even lower then the Eternals as the previous Captain Marvel was a a billion dollar movie at box office in 2019 coming during the peak of Avengers this is a big flop. Captain Marvel in 2019 had opened at $150 Million in USA and a worldwide opening weekend of $456 Million. The Marvels has brought Disney + characters into movie and has also the most diverse movie stars following the trend but this has instead bombed.

Women don't actually care about the products. They don't care about the what and the whens. They care about the who and the why. They'll be interested enough in the drama surrounding a movie or a diversity casting. But they don't actually go to watch the movies. They very rarely actually materially support anything unless it will get them laid or paid.

The theaters keep more than half of those 383 million, which brings the profit down to around 190. The 350 million budget was only for producing the movie. The marketing for it probably cost between 150-200 million. So it was a huge loss.

Not if u include marketing and theater cuts, movies generally have to make at least 2x budget

Aside from this being bait and the anons addressing theaters keeping a percentage of ticket sales, a $383 million return on a $350 million investment is bad for another reason. Right now you can put money into a high yield bank account and get 5% or more back APY. If this $350 million investment had been put into such an account it would have grown to roughly that same $380-385 million in two years.

You don't invest in movies to make what a savings account makes.

I just pirated like it deserves. It’s less political girl power like movie 1 and more typical ghostbusters girl power. Male villain turned into bland shitskin girl villain instead with innocent misguided motives, everyone is perfect and has no flaws, “conflict” is superfluous like “you didn’t visit me enough even though I love you so much!” and immediately forgiven and hugged out because girls do no real wrong and don’t hate eachother blablabla, no strong men, Fury is a sillier inneffectual moron than ever and his only reason being there is being chased around by le meme kittens, men only exist to be an npc easily beaten-up army, Carol ends the movie fixing all of Kree’s problems by easily reigniting their sun and sealing the jole in the multiverse with her mary sue powers

        Anonymous

Lmao I noticed this too. Monica has beef with Carol that's been festering for years mentioned as far back as WandaVision but Kamala puts an immediate end to it by forcing them both to hug it out and it's never mentioned again.

          >Kamala puts an immediate end to it by forcing them both to hug it out and it's never mentioned again.
A lot of stuff like that happened in The Avengers. Kamala is the main character in it, which was one of many reasons why the game flopped. She's a mary sue who solves all the problems that the genius and experienced Avengers can't do. Whenever they argue and have a fight, Kamala is the one who calms them down and makes them see reason. In the final fight, the main villain defeats all the Avengers, but then Kamala comes and saves the day by defeating him.

I knew what you meant, I played the Campaign, too. Thing is, I kinda saw that coming but the fact of the matter was she's the glue that was getting the band back together and what not. It's one thing to be the "audience surrogate" of the story but you got to have a line drawn when it risks you being the sole reason a story moves forward. At least it was merely for the main story and not in the rest of the DLC's.

      >Excellent superhero movies sell, and there was no pulse on The Marvels going back to San Diego Comic-Con. I mean, despite the actors strike, there wasn’t a damn banner, billboard or emblazoned logo plastic bag in the city. I mean, Disney could have at least dropped a featurette or a trailer to fans to wow them out in Hall H and send them into a social media frenzy. Why miss out on that opportunity before the 150K who still attended? It’s as though Disney knew this whipped-cream sequel was a dud, and cut their losses.
      >No, The Marvels meltdown isn’t about superhero fatigue, it’s about Disney’s overexposure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brand on Disney+
I mean, get more copium because the fatigue is real. Fatigue and overexposure are the same thing.

Over exposures caused the fatigue. Making Disney+ shows required viewing for the film's may have caused irreparable damage

I mean, even if I thought that the Marvels would worth the price of admission, I would still have to have a Disney+ subscription and watch I don't know how many of seasons what shit do they have there, to know what the frick is going on in this schlock.

I think the idea of using shows to expand the universe to a ongoing film franchise is a neat idea. The issue is how it's "required". These shows should just be basically filler honestly. Like "see more of your favorite character here!" rather than make them tied to the plot in a bigger way.

What we're witnessing here, folks, is someone who ties a piece of his identity too tightly to a work of fiction. Instead of merely brushing off a negative opinion a stranger online has towards his favourite work, he lashes out in anger, taking criticism as a personal attack. Truly, utterly pathetic

I was wondering what you meant by that but yeah I forgot it was going to end up on Hulu as well. It's still going to be on D+, too. My only question is what's the point of putting it on Hulu as the only Marvel-related property.

I dunno what all of the content is on D+ but I know the trailer for Echo said D+ users would have to set the rating thing or whatever to MA to watch it. I dunno about R but the original point was that shit like Echo was making it on Disney. D3 apparently is going to be rated R like the other guy said, but I'll wait to see if they actually release that on D+ platforms afterwards.

You speak in jest that but it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. One or both of them had some Christmas themed family friendly versions where Deadpool recounted one of the movies to Ben Savage or whatever, I'm saying all this without looking it up so I could have totally botched that but I know they got one.

I caved and looked it up. It's "Once Upon A Deadpool" and it's a PG-13 version of 2. Claims it's on Disney+ where you can see it. Meanwhile, you can find both 1 and 2 unfiltered on D+ so I guess it does have some rated R content.

I think they will backpedal a bit, mainly because south park made it okay to lampoon them so some webpages came out of the woodwork and openly critiques them.
I doubt it will change anything tho, people were raging like 1-2 years before and were going to the movies like qunatuwmania out of momentum and hope it will get better, now they will be warry and even if something good will get out it will have piss poor viewership like Andor for Star Wars.
Brand is beyond damage and the fact that they gender swapped so many heroes and cucked male characters so hard that no one cares.
The only way to salvage it would be uncucking the remaining heroes people like (Thor, Dr. Strange, Loki, Hulk) and introducing new, not yet destroyed, characters while having the great writing quality. They could also introduce femine/cumbait characters like Enchantress (makes me wonder why they didn't before because she is important to Loki and Thor and plotlines they were dabling in) they should also scrap Khan, multiverse shtick cuts the legs of stakes and so it feels boring, shame they killed of/tainted many villains that were great but I guess they still have magneto and Dr.Doom

Cape fatigue hadn't yet set in with the Elementals. Although it still made less money than expected.

      >not convincingly a troony
      >not feminine enough to believably be his crush
      >not athletic enough to pass for spider girl
      >not svelte enough to make the costume look good
What an abortion of character design. I honestly wish they’d just gone for the interracial partnership cliche with a hot white girl with a buff black guy because he’s clearly gay and she’s clearly into cats, pride day, tattoos, and her dad’s trust fund for her.

I mean, it's not an oscar movie by all means, but I had fun. The chemistry betwen characters is good, the switching gimmick is really fun and well thought out, Kamala is fantastic, and the only weak part is the villian.
