The Rolling Girls
I saw this a long time ago but didn't finish it, maybe I will rewatch, I just remember the backgrounds being cool and the plot being some sort of magical girl with some sort of political element type of thing
Only one of those i saw was a couple of episodes of space dandy, but it was awful.
Check MAL, they have recommendations based on thematic similarities between shows.
you should watch S1 Ep 9, S2 Ep 5, S2 Ep 3, S2 Ep 8, and S1 Ep 5, those are the top 5 best episodes
>watch random episodes of a show you never finished
That's so stupid and I will never understand why autistic zoomers would ever even consider doing this. Either watch the full show or don't.
Space Dandy is episodic until like the last 2 episodes. You can just watch those episodes to see the various directors and animators taht worked on the show.
The entire series is only 26 episodes long. There's literally no excuse to not watch the whole thing
Maybe someone is only interested in watching the work of certain animators/directors and doesn't care about the rest of the series.
Then they don't care about the series and shouldn't watch it, pretty simple
Why the concept of "watch a series" seems complicated to normalhomosexuals is beyond me
There is literally nothign wrong with watching an episode that your favorite director or animator worked on just to see their work.
That show sucked and its action scenes are extremely overrated.
Space Dandy is literally an anthology that puts many acclaimed directors who all have vastly different styles all in one series, every episode is completely different and an extremely unique work in itself. The episodes I listed are THE best, all unique masterpieces. That being said, and knowing this, I did appreciate the series as a whole, but someone looking at it the way you are looking at it probably wouldn't enjoy it because you are too closed minded.
Don't care didn't read, watch the series or don't, don't pick and choose like a moronic homosexual because you're trying to pad your MAL list
Why? Every episode is entirely different, why do you even care?
You're an idiot. Stop acting like a 22 minute story inside of a literal gag anime is some work of art regardless of whoever is involved in it. Either watch the complete series it don't instead of being a lazy moron.
I did watch the entire series? That's how I know what the best episodes are? You are talking about something you haven't even seen you FREAK
>You haven't seen it but you know exactly what it is.
All I'm saying is that it's objectively stupid to recommend cherrypicked episodes of such a short show especially when you act like it's some godsend anime.
Every episode is good, those are the most memorable ones, the top 4 are verrrrry artful imo.
>ayo fr fr just finna watch the tiktok clips blud my anxiety trauma adhd won't let me watch a full series
The only episodes I distinctly remember are the zombie one and the surreal purgatory one, and both were kino.
Personally, I didn't really like the zombie one, the purgatory one was #4 on that list tho
The one on meow's home planet is peak comfy
The best anime of all time. Also Kill la Kill is terrible.
Where's the Cyguard grid
>Cyguard grid
never seen. don't know much about it
You haven't seen Cybernetics Guardian? It's metal as frick
>Cybernetics Guardian?
Oh. In that case. I have seen it but that's an OVA rather than a show.
This is from 1969? Holy frick
Some shows back then were extremely dark. They weren't really thinking to market cartoons to kids specifically.
One of these days im going to get around to watching eatman.
'member when anime was kino?
Yeah, I watched Pluto
Yeah, I watched GaoGaiGar
>Kill la Kill is terrible.
It had potential but unlike Gainax, Trigger absolutely cannot clinch a good (or at least memorable and through provoking) ending. Same kind of shit ruined their furry-bait anime too.
I just think it's painfully unfunny and that Imaishi is an overrated manchild while also being a thief who stole his style from a more talented animator. I've hated all of his terrible anime with the exception of Gurren Lagaan which I'm indifferent about.
Kill la Kill was GOAT tier btw
>Kill la Kill was GOAT tier btw
yeah maybe if you've seen a total of 5 anime ever
This always seems to be the "argument" that kill la kill is "entry level". It's the peak of imaishi's style. It's the FLCL of the 2010s. I saw it when it aired. KYS
>I saw it when it aired. KYS
and then you watched 4 other anime after that
Lupin was a nice man
>Also Kill la Kill is terrible.
It has lots of really good parts and really bad parts, especially around the end. Under the hood it has rock solid ideas and themes but sometimes it's just bad. Enjoyment is almost entirely based on how much the bad parts ruin the good parts so it's reception would be extremely polarized because some anons can deal with that.
I suppose that makes it better than a thoroughly mediocre but consistent anime.
Kill la have a nice day. The first four episodes are genuinely perfect, and the rest of the series, while inconsistent, is still a lot of fun. The soundtrack is fricking awesome too
For me it's Basquash
>someone posting about Basquash!
>outside of /m/
>not even shitting on it
Based. The show got trolled to death.
I have a memory relapse if this scene is from Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet or Basquash! it feels like a faded dream.
>Moeshit
Man I liked space dandy so much
Closest thing similar to it is say is Trigun
For me it's Noein
>interesting story
>unique art style
>brilliant visuals and art direction
> Casshern Sins
:_(
YOU LISTEN TO MY HEART
>no Concrete Revolutio
Well this thread is at least better than those threads where people that have only seen about 5 anime in their life proclaim Honnemaise, Akira and Ghost in the Shell to be the pinnacle
Akira is correctly rated but Ghost in the Shell is just pretentious garbage
NE, IMA
All style no substance is your game?
Well, if you're a homosexual like all good weebs are, go for [K].
If you want to lord your intellectual inferiority over people who haven't seen it, Ping Pong the Animation.
Should you want to watch something that'll degenerate your soul, go with Katanagatari.
Thread commentary:
Rolling Girls was a disappointment (visually superior to most things though, so 766 was offering a fair rec)
Basquash... I cannot recommend, but I wanna be friends with whoever brought that up.
Lupin is... honestly, Lupin is better enjoyed randomly as 104 said. It's not good, but it's worth having seen some of it. tl;dr: Scooby Doo
My buddy liked Noein. My buddy also lives with his mom.
You're absolutely moronic
The 4 anime I listed are so great because they have both incredible style and profound substance.
I need more body horror shows like the boat scenes from Genocyber
>Cinemaphile not get filtered by the most entry level shit challenge
These grids are so dishonest
You're telling me that the anime known as Chergerman Ken is not a masterpiece?
COBUUUUUUUUURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Most of the shows are mediocre.
>Most of the shows are mediocre.
You're just describing anime in general
Post your top 10 anime
I would but my top 10 anime are great and does not relate to my previous statement of saying anime in general is mediocre. My favorites are the exceptions, and not the standard.
>Redline
>Cowboy Bebop + Movie
>Castle in the Sky
>Akira
>Angels Egg
>Gauche the Cellist
>Neo Tokyo
>Memories
>Neon Genesis Evangelion + End Of Eva
>Roujin Z
Objectively the best anime ever made
>it's an entry level homosexual who hasn't seen anything proclaims he's finished the art form
Every single time
They are objectively the best, I've seen over 500 anime and I love plenty of obscure anime, plenty I enjoyed quite a bit, I've seen most of the stuff from these cinegrids, that being said a lot of stuff considered "entry level" is simply the all time best
LOL
Are you the creator of Hi and Lois? Because you're making me laugh
I've seen over 2000, thoes are all good to excellent, but I would put only two of them in the top 25 of anime (that I've seen of course)
Okay, what are your top 25?
no answer.
what do you want? objective or subjective?
objective
no order unless stated otherwise:
1. gosenzo-sama banbanzai
angel's egg
ghost in the shell movies + SAC 1 and 2
twilight q
texhnolyze
serial experiments lain
malice@doll
the sensualist
aim for the ace series (particularly 2 and final stage)
dear brother
kasei yakyoku
rose of versailles
ashita no joe
ojamajo doremi series (particularly dokkaan)
aria
princess tutu
kino no tabi
mushishi series
monogatari series (namely bake, s2, owari (ge), zoku owari)
mononoke
evangellion (series, eoe, rebuild -- say what you will about the rebuilds but taken as a whole and what it does in conjunction with the original series, the final construct is nothing short of brilliant)
princess kaguya
area 88 ova
ping pong
tatami galaxy
a lot of this is just what immediately came to mind. i suppose my criteria or my idea of 'objective' isn't so much the importance, influence and impact on the medium. if i did the list would be significantly different and would include stuff like project a-ko, at least one miyazaki work, gundam and the list goes on, but it would then look awfully similar to any other anime recommendation chart you can find on google or reddit. this list is instead those works that i think excel in the artistic sense: in aesthetics, story, themes and so on. i find this criteria far more interesting than simply listing which ones are objectively more important to the medium.
wtf Caribou-kun you post on Cinemaphile? I love ur videos bro
Garbage taste just like the other dude. Damn.
>most have ugly as frick art styles
>most are boring romance slop made for pseuds
>as pretentious as humanly possible without giving a shit about the actual enjoyment that the anime brings
back to plebbit with this homosexual
true sadly
I want both but I'll take either, I want to see the level of kino only 2000+ chads can release on us
500 anime is only like 2% of all anime made.
You believe you have a valid opinion at all on what the best is at that rate of consumption?
That's the maximum rate of consumption you can achieve while still having a life
I’m suspect of the taste of anyone who has seen tons of anime. I have a friend who has seen around 500 and loves the gayest slice of life boring shit.
Because they don't actually watch it, they put it on x2, watch the dub, put it on the second screen or something
Thats entirely a new concept of the next generations, nobody watched anime at any extra speed you either watched it or didnt at all.
>500 anime is only like 2% of all anime made
To find what 100% represents, given that 2% is equal to 500, you can set up a proportion:
2% corresponds to 500
x% corresponds to 100
Using the proportion:
(2 / 100) = (500 / x)
Cross-multiply:
2x = 500 * 100
2x = 50,000
Divide both sides by 2 to solve for x:
x = 50,000 / 2
x = 25,000
So, 100% corresponds to 25,000.
>checking
To find 2% of 25,000, you can simply multiply 25,000 by 2% (or 0.02).
2% of 25,000 = 0.02 * 25,000
Calculating this:
2% of 25,000 = 0.02 * 25,000 = 500
So, 2% of 25,000 is 500.
All that effort to ignore the point being made.
Nobody is an expert or even a valid critic when their entire knowledge of a subject consists of only 2% of it.
Your OPINIONS are noted but please leave the summarizations to the people with more experience in the matter.
film critics have probably seen less than 0.1% of all movies. music critics even less, moron
Hence why i dont value their opinions.
Sorry kid, thems the breaks.
Frick you c**t i was agreeing with you
Why didn’t you simply
X = total anime
500 = 2%
X = 100%
2/100 = 50
50 * 500 = 25000
so i can sound smarter
>corresponds
“Is proportional to” is what you’re looking for.
thank you mathbro
How the frick is Roujin Z and Angel's Egg entry level. Most people don't even know what those are. You are correct about the rest though but something being entry level isn't inherently bad nor should it be used as an insult. It would be stupid for hating a homie for liking something like Akira or Cowboy Bebop since everyone with good taste loves that shit.
no one is really going to list all the moe they've ever seen to validate your niche opinions
Man, i wish i could go back to being this new to anime and being naive.
Laputa is good, angel's egg and gauche are fine, rest is trashy. Get better taste.
Actually, I'm describing television in general.
It's just the most kino scenes not the whole fricking show
They're mostly pretty kino stuff
frick gainax and frick trigger
This. Gainax does have some decent shows though even if I think they are vastly overrated especially when you go back and look at their catalog. I don't think Trigger on the other hand has ever produced a good show.
meryl is forever best girl
i think millie kickstarted my love for big gals
My absolute favourite. The new version sucks ass.
>space dandy was 10 years ago
My god, I remember watching Space Dandy in high school
Has it really been 10 fricking years
Same. I remember having just seen bebop like a year before and being excited for it. It's unironically over.
Yes. 2011-14 is a time period I've never mentally moved out of.
>no ones posted the most dangerous soldier
>zoomers think the early 2010's was that long ago
>people who are younger perceive the recent past as more distant than people who are older
Woah anon I think you're on to something
Anybody else stuck in 2012? It will always be 2012 for me
It was 14 years ago gramps. You're old
>heh remember kimetsu no yaiba
>my god how time flies
>discuss anime similar to these really popular ones but slightly less popular
half of the shows in the OP aren't even that popular.
depends who you're asking. anybody who knows anime knows them. obviously the top two are significantly more popular, but the bottom two are nowhere near obscure in any sense of the word.
>casshan sins
>really popular
I found my dads old PlayStation 4 and he had it loaded up with old anime. There was one called steins gate that was pretty good for it’s era
Is Your Lie in April any good?
yeah as suicide fuel
No. Probably one of the worst anime I've ever seen. Just the most predictable overly melodramatic anime you'll ever watch with forgettable characters and extremely bland character designs.
its a show thats ok for the most parts but the highs are so fricking high that it makes everything else look like ass
Ive rewatched ep13 and 22 multiple times and still tear up whenever I do but I would never rewatch it completely
it was pretty bland honestly, even for a romcom
>that episode where braiking boss asks the scientist exactly how to use the machine
>asks him how to fix any issues
>then kills him
Casshan was brutal
Aint nobody finna watch a black and white anime my homie
I will
>no one watched it
>no one remembers it
>no one even liked it when i showed it to them
I like it ;-;
Only good anime:
1. legend of the galactic heroes
2. attack on titan
3. Death note
AOT and DN have no business being in the same post as LotGH. . That's like me going
1. Elvis
2. Lil Nas X
3. Jack Harlow
Just how it goes bro. Name the top 3 albums of some band and the number 3 isn’t going to be nearly as good as number one
The last 13 episodes of Death Note are dogshit. Would not even crack the top 50 best anime.
Doesn’t matter. The first half is god tier and single handedly made anime go mainstream in the west
>and single handedly made anime go mainstream in the west
my theory is that the golden age of anime was between Death Note and One Punch Man, because death note inspired a wave of anime with great drama and writing, and OPM basically killed the entire narrative aspect of anime by inspiring a million fricking OP protag lazy ironic anime
>The golden age of anime
>late 00's to early 10's
You must be trolling
Well, to be fair like 1989-2001 had better movies, but I think a lot of really well rounded anime came out in that time period
Name 10.
>Space Dandy
>Kill la Kill
>Michiko and Hachin
>Casshern Sins
>Soul Eater
>FMA: B
>HxH
>AOT
>Madoka Magica
>Barakamon
These are your examples of the best era for anime? Fricking Madoka Magica, Kill La Kill, and Attack on Titan? Come on. Even HxH was written in the 90's and shouldn't count.
What do you think the golden age is? To be fair I also think 1995-2003 was the golden age of Sunrise studio and I think 2020-now has been sort of a renaissance with some really well animated stuff
he won't answer with anything meaningful, this same gay has just spent the thread shitting on everyone else's opinions and deflecting when confronted
Just having attack on titan and death note in the same era is enough to call it a golden age. 2 of the best anime of all time and we haven’t seen anything comparable since
1996-2002
>Rourouni Kenshin
>Utena
>Kindaichi
>Flame of Recca
>Berserk
>Outlaw Star
>Cowboy Bebop

>Master Keaton
>GTO
>One Piece
>HxH
>Blue Gender
>Boogiepop Phantom
>Ippo
>Shaman King
>Cyborg 009
>Twelve Kingdoms
>Haibane Renmei
That's literally in the same timespan as your Deah Note-OPM length of time.
actually there's an 8 year difference between Death Note and One Punch Man. 96 to 02 is only 6 years
None of those are as good as death note or attack on titan. You’re argument is built on quicksand and therefore it collapses
I'm not falling for your shitpost
>Rourouni Kenshin
Didn’t watch, sounds boring
>Utena
Is this about a Black person?
>Kindaichi
Never heard of it
>Flame of Recca

Incredible contribution to the thread. Bravo.

>no GITS SAC
Bruh
The only good anime of that specific era I can think of are Mushishi, Mononoke, and Cashern. I think it was more like the beginning of the end rather than the golden age.
Then you don't watch anime
Death note came out in 2006, it didnt inspire anything since most opinions ive seen consider the "golden" times end in 07.
Sword art online is way more culpable than one punch man but yeah I’m with you
i still maintain that if SAO had ended on episode 14 it'd have been a treasured classic instead of how it's remembered now
It really wouldn't
The animation was way better in S2 and 3 tho
It’s good but it ruined anime. In the same way that Garth brooks was good but is nonetheless responsible for ruining country music. It’s like over half of the shit coming out is isekai slop nowadays.
Lmao are you 12
Are you a pussy?
>death note made anime go mainstream in the west
Elvis is garbage, you could have at least said someone super talented like Stevie Ray Vaughan if you were going the music route.
low iq Black
And logh has no business being in a top 3 of anime.
Why not?
Because there are works that are much better.
Such as?
Such as Takahata's Marco.
>look mom I hate the popular thing, I'm so cool!
Where did I say I hate it though?
And yet you don’t post your top 3. Coward
Wataten is based, partly because it's just a good clean funny show, but mostly because it makes redditors seethe
Damn why does Cinemaphile lowkey give way better anime recs than Cinemaphile
>good
>great
>mediocre
>ok+
Above average tastes, after all
>he thinks KLK is the best anime in that image unironically
Yes I do, thanks for noticing
>Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
>Teach a man to fish, feed him for life
These 4 are the true essence of anime and are all you need to sustain you for a life full of wonder, enjoyment and enlightenment. All this pretentious homosexualry in this thread miss the essence and soul of what makes anime good. Feed your soul, anon, and become more enriched with my shared knowledge.
Here's your (You).

"posting off topic" even though I wasn't being off topic at all, the mods on Cinemaphile are way too strict for no reason
gay, if you arent banned for racism I dont care
you should be banned from tv too
This set has nothing in common.
they are all episodic and atmospheric
They're not all episodic.
they kinda are
>hmm should I post tranime on the tranime containment board? nah the television and film board will do
they only discuss gay moeshit. Kino anime is for Cinemaphile.
I bet I have better taste in films than you as well.
If you actually went to Cinemaphile for 1 minute, you'd realize why anime threads are better off on Cinemaphile
You can’t actually discuss anime on Cinemaphile. It’s a thinly veiled pedo coomer board. newbie
Go back to reading the adventures of snowflake and safespace, Cinemaphilemblr
>Go back to-
>the hero association
>the adult heroes of my hero academia
manga "heroes"
why are weebs so fricking disingenuous
Cinemaphile is the moeshit and FOTM board. Cinemaphile is where us MEN discuss the KINO that is pre-digital anime.
Gay taste. watch some good anime like legend of the galactic heroes.
>legend of brap lactate farts
its not fair bros, akagi was good but had to stop literally at the start of the 20 YEARS OF MAHJONG part, literally never ever and kaiji too
>and you don't seem to understaaaAAAaandddd
Watch the Bebop High School OVAS, there's 7 of them in total but the last 2 are skipable.
Sometime around 2006 I decided to never watch an anime over 52 episodes unless it was episodic humor, and I'm not sure I really missed anything truly great after. Short form just feels like it leaves more of an impact.
Lol I’m opposite. I refuse to watch 12 episode shit.
frick off troons

what're animes with hot milf/cougar characters so I can fap to them and learn to draw anime for

Nonnonbiyori
Space Dandy: Bobobo Bobobobo
Kill La Kill: Gurren Lagann
Casshern: Pluto
I haven't seen the last one, but I'm going to recommend Dorohedoro anyway. Dorohedoro fricking rules.
pretty cool how megaman was based off casshern. casshern sins is also top tier kino.
I cannot understand why people like Kill La Kill.
It's sense of humor is cringe
It's fun and vibrant and has striking animation and battles. Also lots of fat anime tiddies. Not enough trannies in it for you to appreciate, I guess?
Outlaw Star
Watch Redline. Ending is too rushed but it is still really good fun.
Man, Space Dandy and its varying artstyles really caught me when I was younger. I still listen to Stardust Pipeline even now.
I don't know really any recs like that but the lead director did Zankyou no Terror and that turned out alright.
If you're after things with interesting visuals then things like:
>Sonny Boy
>No Game No Life
>Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
>Tekkonkinkreet
>Odd Taxi
Going to throw in Paranoia Agent as a personal fave too.
R8
Diebuster alone makes me think we'd be bros, so fricking good, idgaf about the rest
can you list the names of these I dont recognize some
Gunbuster/Diebuster, Akudama Drive, Outlaw Star
R.O.D: Read or Die, Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight, Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Giant Robo The Day the Earth Stood Still, Mawaru Penguindrum, Getter Robo Armageddon
loved this movie when I was a kid
reminded me of a book called The Healer
Bottom right looks like a FLCL reference
kill la kill is the evangelion of anime, prove me wrong
