    >man is... LE BAD

It never actually says that man is bad in an explicit sense. They don't appear on screen, they aren't a character. They're more of a force of nature, like everything else. Which is something that I like about this movie. Had it been made in the 80s or 90s, they likely would've done a more straight-forward and comically evil villain, which I think is tedious and stupid. This isn't a story about nature vs man, it's a story about a deer growing up from a POV.

I like Man is this ominous cryptid or eldritch monster the forest animals fear, complete with scenes like that bird going insane hysterically quailing they have to fly even as all the others desperately try shushing her and begging her to stay still. The theme for Man still gives me goddamn goosebumps, I can see why it was basically lifted to be the theme for Jaws later on.

It sucks. Like for real even as a kid I hated this shit.

Uncultured pleb, its a best classic Disney movie.

The movie is better as an adult
I didn't appreciate it as a kid either

The best normie filter, it definitely has a more calming feel from other Disney films, which makes the intense moments absolutely stand out

It has nice visuals at least, but that's about it. Not that I think it was really meant to be anything more than that or demand that it be so

Okay this was both disturbing and wholesome at the same time. It's when Robot Chicken is at its best.

I agree with this. And one neat detail about Bambi 2 is they expanded on how the deer see man. Not necessarily as a force of nature but as a trickster thing that uses a special whistle to attract deer and from the deer's point of view it sounds like another deer saying things like "I'm your friend" to lure them out into the open. That was honestly a neat little tweak.

I want this to actually happen in the remake, just to see how the general public reacts.

How do you think they will react? They already have a negative opinion of Disney these days so they will naturally think Disney has become more morally bankrupt promoting beastiality.

We're living in an era where people actually get offended when regular animals have sex I heard a few individuals complaining about computer realistic Lion King because of the implication that Simba and Nala had sex even though they are animals of the same species. Even in that scenario a few felt the need to complain. Needless to say if you include actual beastiality? You frankly not only make the masses angrier but you will fully destroy Disney's reputation in a way that will never be fixed. And don't bother saying "Well good" because we all know Disney for as evil and twisted as it has become under Iger and the current board of directors and such high ranking employees aren't THAT stupid.

Not the last 1940s Disney movie to be ruined, at least.

Is this movie judged harshly? I always see it being mocked for the cute animals or being called a girl/gay movie, but that doesn't seem to really represent what it is.

They only watch the promo material not the movie itself. Also the original book is very different, closer to stuff like watership down.

This is briefly how I feel:
    >As a film
The movie is built around segments, which are very charming, and are filled with a broad range of emotions. The simple and mundane parts of reality is what makes it appealing. For example some are simple, lighthearted moments, like learning to speak for the first time, or the experience with skating on ice and snow, or meeting a girl for the first time and being embarrassed and confused. There are also more impactful moments, such as when he meets the male and deer and his father for the first time, where there is a bigger emphasis on sense of grandeur. This is also apparent during the finale. I also like the fact that it's a story told from the perspectives of animals, and they have the a type of understanding and perception that is based around that. And because it's a coming-of-age tale, all of the elements come together by the end.

    >As for visuals
The acting makes a lot the scenes work. The character acting itself is excellent, and it has to be since it's an emotion-driven story. Just watch some of the scenes and you can see that it does all type of emotions. They also incorporated more stylistic moments, like the dream sequence and the fight sequence. I also admire the fact that they naturally included effects from the environment (snow, rain, fire, etc.) into the movie without it looking like they were trying. This was also the first feature-film to entirely use animals, without any humans, and the team had to struggle to get everything together, including bringing animals into the studio.

    >As for sound
I always felt that the music was underrated. It has a lot of synchronized sound, and uses music to great effect (the fighting and marching scenes are ones that I always remember specifically). There's a nice mix of grand orchestra, as well as more jazzy and upbeat stuff, which I think is appropriate for the movie as a whole.

Oh sure, fun fact about the original story:
    >the Bambi/ Faline/ Ronno childhood conflict from Bambi 2 is actually in the original story.
    >Bambi, grown up, finds Faline again as a grown-up like in Bambi 1.
    >except he sees her as a weak, ugly old b***h and moves on.

Thats literally the only passage I read from it.

Not him, but actually they fight if I recall like in the first movie.

    Why?

The first one doesn't have much of a story going on, just "shit happens over time". The sequel at least gives Bambi a chance to redeem from the first, which I thought was a nice touch. I absolutely love the sequel's soundtrack, while the first one didn't have that much of an original soundtrack. I also loved the father and son moments in the sequel. Oh, also I thought the "cuteness" moments felt less forced, and I liked the humor, which I don't recall a lot in the first.
