It's not actually meant to be part of any Islamic empire. This is fake news. It's supposed to be be a fictional location. But the fact that it's a setting made by loser Californians isn't exactly riveting either.

      >fictional location
lmao that's worse, goes to show that they can't even be bothered to research the region.

I really hate when diversity breaks immersion. Pick a people and populate your fantasy world country with it. Not everywhere has to be New York.
Or make it a sci-fi world, then diversity could be expected.

Sure, you can have it set in Haiti or Jamaica
Or have them be the aristocrats of a ghetto and show black people helping each-other make it through racism keeping them down.

            Multi-culturalism
The idea that many cultures can exist in a small space with no conflict.
This has... never been true, but it's supposedly true after the 1990s

              Anonymous

No conflict is one thing with nobody. It is actually said it was a regular thing throughout most of history and not but the ideas get well constantly at War whenever we had two or more cultures to get to the same country is ridiculous just look at the romance history. Are you trying to say we shouldn't have black people in America now because there are white people here now America didn't begin with just a bunch of white people come into this continent.

The Caliphate of Cordoba was fairly diverse, ethnically speaking. You had Moors, israelites, Visigoths, Franks, Greeks, Basques, native Iberians and who knows else living side-by-side. Not necessarily peacefully, but still it was more diverse than most parts of Europe at the time.

The thing is that we know very little of actual pagans because they didn't really wrote much. Most of what we do know comes from the Christians and outsiders who bother to write stuff down so there is a degree of bias there. It would be akin to larping honestly, as sad as that is.

I find it really interesting how Arabs were a relative minority among the (Arab-speaking) Moors, nearly in the same way Goths were towards the end of Roman Spain. And also how the Islamic side of this place would break away from Damascus or the greater Islamic world, sometimes including modern-day Morocco.
