what kind of moron would say "Disney is marging with Sony" after reading this? idiots are so desperate to talk about Disney
They better not fricking region lock their catalog titles
>literally just copy pasting twitter links and screencaps
useless board
1. Japan is basically the only place where Blu-ray sales is still quite strong.
2. Sony is a Japanese company
3. Sony owns the most of the Blu-ray related patents.
>Sony is a Japanese company
it is
Good ol' Culver City, Japan
Are you fricking stupid?
My parents were born in Sweden then they came over to America and had me. Makes me totally Swedish, right?
Paco, Sony's HQ is in Japan.
Yes?
....yes
moron. Blacks born in America say Africa is their home.
My parents were born in India, then they came over to Qatar and had me. Makes me Qatari, right?
neither qataris nor pajeets are human so it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things
No?
Guessing it makes you a slave
My parents were born in Brazil, then moved to Argentina. That makes me white, right?
Don't cry for me
Let me guess, you think Playstation is also a Japanese brand.
youre not old enough to be on the internet, anon
The last of us takes place in Japan
Nice b8 m8.
SIE headquaters were relocate to California years ago
have you been living under a rock or did you think that was all memes?
For all intents and purposes, SIE became an american company. They started demanding that japanese people do business enquirers during US hours and they would demand said meetings be entirely on English, it was nuts.
fricking moron
Tiktok is also in Culver City.
Do you think they’re an American company as well?
It's a Singaporean company, senator.
unrelated i used to drive by both often
(LA is a shithole)
Maybe go do some digging into those parent coporations and you'll find some shocking information about where Sony HQ is.
> some shocking information about where Sony HQ is
Don't dig too deep into it. Men have been killed for less.
Oh frick
>tallest guy is not in the middle
>Sony Pictures
Those chromosomes passed you by
>homosexual OP wake up today and decided he was going to be an economist
lol
>Sony owns the most of the Blu-ray related patents.
This. Sounds like Disney is cutting out any middle men and dealing directly with Sony for Blu-Ray releases.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised by this. Glad to see Disney still supporting physical releases.
Though some of the old Disney "re-masters" for blu-ray were pretty garbage, using awful digital filters instead of decent restorations.
They do seem to be rectifying those mistakes. Heard good things about the 4K Snow White and Cinderella that came out recently.
I downloaded the remuxes and can confirm they look good, Snow White especially.
This is great news for Blu-Ray collectors since Disney is sitting on tons of movies that haven't had 4k releases.
Quite big in Japan
They also sell Bluray discs and they come quite fast too
They have a cream for that
I have a blu ray drive for my pc but I've never bothered burning a blank disc with it. Just seems pointless when I find spindles of blank dvds for like 2 dollars at thrift stores all the time
>Sony is a Japanese company
Citation needed
Playstation was the one that got americanized, not Sony as awhole.
>sony pictures isn't americanized
Yeah, I think that's why many of those PS5 games have Pro-LGBT stuff in it.
Sony music has always been israeli, same with Sony pictures.
Videogames were just the most recent part of Sony Entertainment division to be fully captured.
The conglomerate that owns all the other ones ultimately.
SIE became a Californian-run company which is why it's dying.
>Japan is basically the only place where Blu-ray sales is still quite strong.
they're the masters of bundling shit with the blurays. You wanna go to that event? sadly you can't directly buy a ticket, but you can buy the related bluray which comes with a raffle ticket and you might win the opportunity of buying a ticket to the event you wanna go!
>1. Japan is basically the only place where Blu-ray sales is still quite strong.
Are you moronic?
So basically Disney is doing so poorly that they need Sony to run off physical discs for them now
Fricking lol
Yeah, it's mindboggling that the largest studio on earth can't handle physical distribution in house.
That's not what a merge is, you business illiterate
People are dumb and think Sony just makes movies. They’ve been a electronics and software company a lot longer.
Almost
No
Disney was going to stop physical media period for their products to force people to subscribe to Disney+. Disney+ been a dumpster fire. Add on, there’s a resurgence of people buying physical media. People are waking up that you don’t own shit when it comes to digital
It’s remarkable how incompetent the decision-makers at these big companies have become. Anyone with an iota of foresight could have concluded that the streaming model relied on being a better financial proposition than cable to be successful, yet instead of getting together behind closed doors with someone like Netflix or Amazon to discuss how they were going to be the de facto “format” for streaming content and negotiate very favourable licensing deals, they all decided to make their own competing platform all with their own monthly buy-in costs. Their decisions have pushed consumer behaviour to the opposite of where they wanted it to be.
Disney legit thought they could compete or edge out netflix at one point when they were high on capeshit juice.
its the first mover problem, ie whomever moves first is the winner when it comes to platforms.
And I'm glad they're that moronic. Physical media keeps good image and audio quality alive. Might as well watch a YIFFI encode if I'm open to watching stream shit.
I trust Sony with Lucasfilm more than Disney
amy pascal is worst than kk
Are you guys morons? They are not doing a deal with Sony movies. Sony makes software like um, DVDs and blue rays. They also make players for these things and even a game console that’s called a Playstation. So get this, Disney who doesn’t make that shit, is having Sony make it. Crazy
They are morons, but it makes it slightly more possible that an unaltered star wars gets released. Not really necessary with 4K77 though.
The most woke company in the world joins the second most woke company in the world, expect all the actresses to wear burkas in every production and at least 5 gay characters in everything.
>amy pascal is worst than kk
put feige in this list
>getting Morbius and Madame Web-tier star wars content
would be pretty soulful, ngl
>Cinemaphiletard seething about Sony again
Kek. Everyday, every board, for the rest of his life.
I will never stop online vidya flame warring for seethe
konami is an american company created by white people, i know because im swedish!
pic related is proof!!!
ps - hideo kojima (the creator of metal gear series) is a white guy btw
>Konami HQ is located inside a CostCo
Kino
He's actually Mexican.
>idk the difference between parent company and a subsidiary.
>disney worst company evil.
Kek.
Iger has political aspirations and is sacrificing Disney to move into the club
So does that mean timed Kingdom Hearts 4 exclusivity?
Who the frick still buys discs?
no one due to streaming
and because of hollywood's moronation level of thinking, they are now killing themselves over lost of revenue
biggest kek of all time
Collectors and walmart shoppers still buy dvds apparently. Sales for 4k and bluray have gone up recently thanks to Oppenheimer and probably also more people having current gen playstations and xboxes.
I do. I find out about new shit from Cinemaphile, check out some webms anons drop and get a feel for if it's shit or not. Then I find a place to pirate it. If it turns out to be actually good (Chernobyl, for example) then I buy it on disc. This way I don't get ripped off, whoever made the good shit still gets paid, and it doesn't get fricked with later.
Me
Imagine merging with a company that has the same problems as you but in Videogames
I am refering to overbudget Videogames
Sony Pictures =/= Playstation. They're part of the same conglomerate and benefit from the brand synergy, but they're 2 separate companies.
Yeah, but I just think its funny
It's like some kinda... umbrella corporation.
Wait. No. That's Capcom.
This is not a merger, this is Disney selling off some of its business to Sony. That said, you are correct in that Sony has also had some moronic high budgets for some of their more recent games ($300 million for the most recent Spiderman, for example) that are really questionable from a financial standpoint.
heard there was a special a special reason why all this has happened that no one can understand
I don't think we've heard the last from anyone even REMOTELY involved in all of this
that's not just my instinct, but also what a lot of people might be saying
Does Sony have to put everything in "the vault" like Disney did?
Disney stopped caring about the forced scarcity vault system after 2016 and just kept the Signature Collection movies in print presumably until this switch over started.
this is gonna tank Sony the same way their toy deals has tanked Hasbro. if it was profitable, Disney would still be doing it
Sony does it for its titles plus Columbia catalog titles already. Im thinking this part of its business is already profitable or they wouldnt be interrest would they. They now have Disney, Fox, Columbia and Sony titles in their catalog.
>Im thinking this part of its business is already profitable or they wouldnt be interrest would they
i would agree if not for sony releasing madame web, i question their business acumen
>their toy deals has tanked Hasbro
moron
'tism
Is there anything more embarrassing than posting like this? It automatically proves the poster is a redditor and does nothing but wastes everyone's time and hiro's bandwidth.
moron
Wait Disney has started selling off pieces of itself already? Fricking hell that was fast. Wasn't it supposed to take another 10 years? How bad is it?
The CEO Bob Iger should have been replaced already. Absolutely no one has been fired. The stock is tanking and they keep pumping out women / black / gay propaganda. Almost like it's there plan to force a color revolution for the five eyes or burn the company down...
Disney can't into this:
Let that sink in.
>the disc is named verbatim
clever
>disney's manufacturing centre is just a guy with a 2005 prebuilt with Nero CD burner installed copying .avi's to discs
VR will be a game-changer for movies if they do things right.
film the entire movie from the first person perspective of the protag.
pop the headset on and watch movie as if you're in it and it's happening to you. no phys media needed. no theater.
>pop the headset on
there lies your issue friend
what's the issue? too expensive? have to buy multiples if you wanna watch in a group? i'm behind the curve with VR, just seems cool with games. but the VR version of Hitman looks bad with the floating hands.
I'm obsessed with VR games. It's the only way I game now. Golf+, Pavlov, eleven table tennis, re4vr, 2MD football, etc etc. I've tried a movie in VR a long time ago,on a phone VR set.im sure it would look better on my quest 2 but I haven't had an interest in trying it
ahahahahahahahaha
So disney+ is dead now?
This is the intelligence of your average Cinemaphile poster.
>So disney+ is dead now?
No, but it will be in the next decade.
Soon, Apple will acquire Disney & all Disney Plus content will migrate to Apple TV Plus.
if they gave it over to sony then that means they have literally no faith in it
They didnt give it, they sold it. Basically Sony said hey buddy, your not doing anything with it, ill take it off your hands for $100. Disney said $100 is more than we are making from it, sure.
Disney has a huge catalog and was never good at releasing it on physical media even when it was smaller. They are not going to put money into it since they are bleeding from streaming. Sony on the other hand is tooled up for this stuff. Anyways its good for me since i collect 4k blu rays
>was never good at releasing it on physical media
this homie is too young to have been around when the vault was a thing
>was never good at releasing it on physical media
Tell me you're a zoomer without telling me you're a zoomer.
Its only a matter of time until Sony buys Disney outright
>Its only a matter of time until Sony buys Disney outright
That'll never happen. They simply don't have the capital for them.
What could likely happen more is Apple acquiring Disney + merging with up to half of Sony in the near future. This would expand Apple's corporate dominance across both firms.
Wow, I did not know it was that bad.
>All physical media
so what does that entail exactly, Disney is still owning Disney+ streaming services but... their films are physical?
>Physical media production
Sony are just making physical media of whatever Disney shits out
Nothing changes for anything other than that specific thing; physical releases of their media
Disney only just started putting out their Disney+ shows on blu-ray a few months ago. Must have realized that there are enough people buying to justify putting them out but not enough to keep it in house.
They missed the boat with this one. The first xmas after Mando season 1 was the first and last time a Beskar Collector's BluRay box would have sold ridiculous numbers.
Don't they have FOX for that?
They own fox so the expense still comes out of their own pockets. They brokered a deal with Sony that will save them money while building a relationship with another big company.
>Don't they have FOX for that?
Yes, but Fox doesn't manufacture physical media.
And yet liberal trannies still dont believe the Go woke, Go broke curse.
does anyone know if sony makes good physical releases?
i'm trying to figure out if this a good thing or not
makes sense top go directly so sony. probably saves tons of money
>when multi billion dollar company loses money
im business illiterate but what can investors/shareholders realisticly do in this situation?
Take back their money.
Sell their stock and cut their losses.
Sell their shares, which will cause the price to drop, which will impact Disney's access to capital.
Sell Disney stock, which they won't because they'd lose a ton of $$$. Board members could force new leadership, but they're probably in on this shit.
Surely Disney isn’t stupid enough to forget to put a release window on all of their discs?
>Sony releases all their future movies on Blu-ray the day they release in cinemas.
Disney are losing money, yet they'll still waste hundreds of millions on women-centric films
The executives did that on purpose. Disney was poisoned so this could happen.
Who poisoned Disney and what is the endgame?
i dont own a tv or any streaming services
but is there a thing called "your digital library" where you store your digital purchases?
like, imagine having something like pic related but in digital format
you purchase the movie like you would a dvd or blu ray, and that digital purchase stays in your digial lbrary forever - bts stuff included
purchasing more digital space for your movies can also be business model moronic disney and moronic sony can implement
need more digital space but cant afford it?
well, you can trade in old movies you do watch anymore for digital credits
3 old movies equals a new release
Does that mean there will be more licencing of the Fox catalogue to boutique labels onward...or is it only the new titles which are taken into account?
Because I swear the number of 20th Century movies that are either OOP or unavailable on bluray is embarrassingly high (see picrel, and tha's from the top of my head)
New titles after The First Omen
Look:
New titles after The First Omen but also all their releases. So whatever Disney wants to release, and its fair to assume that they want to profit from their large catalog and release more hence the need for efficiency.
Therea even more than that.
Its good news for 4k and even standard blu-ray collectors as well as digital hoarders of full quality remuxes. Absolute worst case, Sony does a better job of status quo which is still an improvement. Best case is we see their entire catalog make its way to Blu-Ray. Based on comments Iger made recently and recent sales of Oppenheimer and The Abyss and Blu-rays in general, they want to release more than they have been. It seems recently they also started to make an effort with the quality of their releases and this is them realizing they dont have the necessary expertise to do what they need to.
>"make an effort with the quality of their releases"
>Poor Things, a recently released acclaimed flick who made $100m at the box office, and has a high chance of being profitable on the home media market, won't get an UHD release
lol, lmao even.
>"its fair to assume that they want to profit from their large catalog and release more hence the need for efficiency."
LOL, LMAO EVEN.
are you feeling alright anon?
yeah, i'm definitely not pissed off at the ever-worsening enshittification of movie streaming and its unwanted impact on physical media, most likely due to corporate greed and incompetence.
ya know, it's not like i resent the average braindead consumer for choosing services that push you to piracy because of laughable subscription prices, bad quality control and copyright issues, i'm totally FINE with that.
in fact, from now on, i'll make sure i'll spend all my money to these money-grubbing israelites, who might or might not edit and censor and restrict the broadcast of these worldwide known movies just as they wish, in order to fit le "social-struggle-du-jour".
that way, we'll never get Die Hard With A Vengeance, Sound Of Music, Fight Club, Hud or Gone Girl on UHD, because it's "like, super old and problematic" and "super expensive to produce" and "the discs are full of plastic, which is bad for environment, unlike our servers which are operating 24/7 and totally environmentally friendly, we swear(tm)"
>thinks anyone will read his blog
lol, lmao even
Hopefully more 4K discs for Australia
