I don't think it's a mark of shame but rather a testament about how strong these puppers are, rubble is extremely popular in my area
The idea was to use the big hitters to set up many many sequels and evergreen franchises
Instead they stomped them all into the dirt
As much as I hate sequels nothing they have done guaranteed one, it's not like the incfredibles were that movie begged for a sequel to hit cinemas the next summer or Christmas season instead look how much it took them to rehash the same ground and make everything boring
Now nothing and I mean nothing in their lineup to elemental is strong enough to have a franchise outside of a encanto TV series and even there I'm stretching the relevance of that film
Well I was thinking more in terms of their acquired franchises - Marvel and Star Wars in particular
But Disney have already announced they're gonna be playing it safe with sequels next. Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5.
I'm not saying these are warranted sequels, that they will be good or that their franchises are evergreen. But sequels are on their way and will make some profits. Best-case scenario that means they can then make some good original movies afterwards. Not that any of us have much faith right now
You're not wrong, but I'll defend anon a bit in that it's interesting often times "Woke" stuff has much of their success grandfathered from something previous.
>TRoS flopped massively
Regardless of what we thought of it, TRoS still clocked a billion dollars, something a movie about Han "clap" Solo couldn't do, even after the TLJ fiasco.
Not financially, in 2019 Disney had arguably its best year in the Box office, 3-4 years later, most of their big movies underpreformed or flopped, and their upcoming movies are predicted to flop, its so bad they re having mass layoffs at the level of Warner.
watch other animation that isn't disney
They still are the leaders in animation. Some of their recent movies just aren’t good.
is that fricking paw patrol
Yes
Yeah, but it was also someone greatly exaggerating their opinion because that's what gets engagement
Oh I wish they were exaggerating.
Based, PAW Patrol is kino. This year's sequel will also produce profits that eclipse Disney's this year. Yet another embarrassment for them

Family trauma isn't compelling at all

That post is exactly what I think of when I see "a-animation isn't just for kids!" posters.
90% of them exclusively watch children's animation.
People constantly write about how Satoshi Kon's work is amazing. It just doesn't get a big reaction
>I can't actually discuss comics or cartoons, so I'll do Cinemaphile shit
Go back there
Disney doesn't make cartoons or comics?
That right?
You're not wrong, but I'll defend anon a bit in that it's interesting often times "Woke" stuff has much of their success grandfathered from something previous.
One success doesn't cancel out dozens of failures.
Remember:
Go broke, get woke, ultimately CROAK.
That's right.
homosexual.
Disney was already going broke by 2019, moron.
TRoS flopped massively and Endgame was the beginning of the end.

It's still humilliating, imagine haiving a movie trilogy whose final installment made 1 Billion less than the first installment in the trilogy.
COVID and Disney+ downgraded for Normies their need to want to watch Disney on theatre.
This, why watch the new Pixar movie in theaters if the previous 3 were straight to Disney+?
Disney was boring long before 2019.
>Peak of capeshit
>Remakes everywhere
>Butchered Star Wars
>Pixar mostly making sequels
>Etc
And this is coming from someone who thinks Frozen is alright.
>Butchered Star Wars
Did not need Disney for that.
shit on the prequels all you want, they sold a ton of merch and they still sell more merch than the sequels do.
>muh merch
ok consoomer
mucho texto
you gays laughed when i said disney would fall in my lifetime.
2019 gave us Frozen II, Rise of the Skywalker, Maleficent, and the Aladdin and Lion King Live Action movies.
It was a SHIT year for Disney.
Not financially, in 2019 Disney had arguably its best year in the Box office, 3-4 years later, most of their big movies underpreformed or flopped, and their upcoming movies are predicted to flop, its so bad they re having mass layoffs at the level of Warner.
>2019
Disney went to shit when they moved over to cgi
They pretty much used all the biggest hits before COVID hit. Luck for them in some ways.

It's all Jennifer Lee's fault.
