I can. There’s an episode toward the end of the series where they let him write, storyboard, and direct the entire thing himself, and Chung's influence is FELT. Victor and Valentino didn't deserve him.
some thoughts:
-The pilot can't decide if it's supposed to be about Tater or the primos. Tater gets the loin's share of screentime here leaving the rest with not much to do but play out some one-note jokes.
-This is a real problem since Tater barely gets to directly interact with the primos, they feel less like family and more like funny classmates.
-Maybe they'll probably get more development later but their first impression leaves a lot to be desired.
-Personally I've never enjoyed the constant mix of spanish and english in dialogue.
-It's like a weeb sprinkling Japanese phrases with his english to sound cool and exotic.
-It's sometimes it's tolerable but there are other times it becomes Chris-Chan tier.
-Tater's main desire to become "someone special" is too vague and doesn't really fit the bog-standard birthday episode,
-Maybe it'll be explored better in later episodes but I got a feeling in my gut that wont be the case.
-The little sister is the only one with any kind of extra characterization, and it's mostly used for fairly banal banter with Tater.
-The pop song used for the birthday montage is sickly sweet, I rapidly became nauseous from the audio-visual corn syrup.
4/10 It's watchable. You can feel how desperately they want to be The Loud House, but have none of the character chemistry that made that show good.

I thought the premise made it pretty clear Tater's the protagonist and that the whole show revolves around her POV. Makes sense for the pilot episode to focus on her when introducing the setting and huge main cast.
I know I know I'm being nitpicky, but at 17 minutes this pilot really drags along these cliche story beats at a painfully slow pace. I know it's Tater's show yet she's easily the weakest part of it. You could've easily cut out the first five minutes from this pilot and lose nothing. Tater's exposition dump at the start is completely pointless. There's merit to decompressed storytelling but it's all for nothing when the story is wasting runtime with bland characterization and underwhelming humor.
The Loud House even at it's worst can be guaranteed to be fast-paced enough to keep you engaged. Meanwhile this show spent 17 minutes boring me to sleep.
It's a rough cut, so the final version will definitely trim some of the fat. And I get the feeling those first 3 minutes are totally separate from the animatic that follows. It's likely just test animation and a means of laying down the premise and overall vibe of the show real quickly:

-The pilot can't decide if it's supposed to be about Tater or the primos. Tater gets the loin's share of screentime here leaving the rest with not much to do but play out some one-note jokes.
-This is a real problem since Tater barely gets to directly interact with the primos, they feel less like family and more like funny classmates.
-Maybe they'll probably get more development later but their first impression leaves a lot to be desired.
-Personally I've never enjoyed the constant mix of spanish and english in dialogue.
-It's like a weeb sprinkling Japanese phrases with his english to sound cool and exotic.
-It's sometimes it's tolerable but there are other times it becomes Chris-Chan tier.
-Tater's main desire to become "someone special" is too vague and doesn't really fit the bog-standard birthday episode,
-Maybe it'll be explored better in later episodes but I got a feeling in my gut that wont be the case.
-The little sister is the only one with any kind of extra characterization, and it's mostly used for fairly banal banter with Tater.
-The pop song used for the birthday montage is sickly sweet, I rapidly became nauseous from the audio-visual corn syrup.
4/10 It's watchable. You can feel how desperately they want to be The Loud House, but have none of the character chemistry that made that show good.

I thought the premise made it pretty clear Tater's the protagonist and that the whole show revolves around her POV. Makes sense for the pilot episode to focus on her when introducing the setting and huge main cast.
I know I know I'm being nitpicky, but at 17 minutes this pilot really drags along these cliche story beats at a painfully slow pace. I know it's Tater's show yet she's easily the weakest part of it. You could've easily cut out the first five minutes from this pilot and lose nothing. Tater's exposition dump at the start is completely pointless. There's merit to decompressed storytelling but it's all for nothing when the story is wasting runtime with bland characterization and underwhelming humor.
The Loud House even at it's worst can be guaranteed to be fast-paced enough to keep you engaged. Meanwhile this show spent 17 minutes boring me to sleep.
It's a rough cut, so the final version will definitely trim some of the fat. And I get the feeling those first 3 minutes are totally separate from the animatic that follows. It's likely just test animation and a means of laying down the premise and overall vibe of the show real quickly:
