There's so much support for DC movies, but then when you're about to go for a ticket the entire saloon is empty.
Wasn't this going to beat Barbie?

B-but it was supposed to make over a billion dollars
CURSE YOU ZASLAV YOU BETTER FIX THIS RIGHT NOW
DCCU or whatever its called has no fans since almost every movie in it is dogshit. blue beaner has very few fans (probably in the hundreds globally). it looks kinda shit so general superhero or action fans don't care
>No one is going to see this movie in the middle of a work day
>FLOP
Alright anon, sure.
this. no one goes to the movies on a friday.
The date in OP clearly says August 17th, a Thursday
>Blue Beetle trailer
>Villian: "Your family makes you weak"
>Hero: "No, they're what makes me strong!"
This is bad parody writing.
It's only OK if Marvel does it.
Because Marvel did it first. DC copying cliches doesn't look good.
>Marvel did it first
And Stan Lee invented Captain America.
Marvel would add a quip so you know it's ironic and not cringe
This is a Fast & Furious script. What are you talking about?
The trailer actively makes the movie seem worse than it is by rearranging audio to where it doesn't belong. Bad guy says family makes you weak, lots of shit happens, Naruto tragic backstory is learned and Jaime forgives him, and then says family makes him strong. Similarly he does not say "I'm just a nobody" when getting attacked, he says it when the scarab chooses him. Related: Rather than rap music like the trailer the songs that get put in the movie are shit like Luis Miguel. The ad division actually fricked this movie bad
DC always had a niche following. But then Snyder divided us and now there are even fewer.
Look up the newest blue beetle comic on LOCG and multiply the number of reads there with 0.3-0.5 and you probably have the global number of blue beetle fans
OP sucks wiener an he is a massive homosexual. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But also, he is a filthy, dirty liar who only show half-truths. Even erased the name of the theatre.
Here is the one in Queen.
Lincoln Square.
>100 seat theater
AMC didn't have much faith in this one, did they?
>Premiere.
>Half of a seats are empty.
Well it seems to be flopping in Europe. Here is Stockholm's biggest cinema the day after the premier on a saturday. Those numbers are "tickets left"
It's flopping everywhere. The homosexual is cherry-picking. No one wants to see DC movies.
for context i had to book my star wars 9 tickets 2 weeks in advance
7:10pm saturday at my local cinema
Latinx bros...
>Fan page with 7000 followers
>Got a quote in the """News"""
>This gets Cinemaphile all excited
Truly, we live in a society.
>Make a film about a hero the average person doesn't know and the average fan doesn't care about
>Pick actors that no one has heard of
>Pick a director that no one has heard of
>Release it less than a month after the two largest movies of the summer
>Get surprised when it flops
but marvel tho. marvel did it, so context doesnt matter bro.
that was fast. And even if Iron Man wasn't big most people had at least heard of the concept of him
Not Iron Man, I'm talking about the GOTG
GOTG came out after Avengers. The Marvel hype was in full swing at that point.
So they made a film about heroes the average person doesn't know and the average fan doesn't care about. I'm glad you could clear that up.
And before someone brings up Annihilation and Marvel Cosmic, I liked that era too, but you have to be kidding yourself if you think the average fan was buying it, the average fan was more aware of shit like civil war if we're talking only comic fans
GOTG was released when Marvel was at its strongest and could do virtually anything and have it work, that's all changed post-Endgame
>>Make a film about a hero the average person doesn't know and the average fan doesn't care about
Dumbass, that's what Marvel did
That's not working so well for them these days, most people have already forgotten about Moon Knight.
Not that anyone gives a shit about the big names anymore either, besides Spider-Man and maybe Deadpool
>Normies didn't know who Captain America was.
Are you fricking serious?
>Pick actors that no one has heard of
>the Latino kid from Cobra Kai
>George Lopez
Anon, are you moronic by any chance?
Literally no one gives a shit about either of those.
lol George Lopez, what are they going to get Patton Oswalt as a selling point next?
moron
Don't forget the FIRST piece of promo they had was calling batman a facist.
I"m a fricking moron who doesn't speak box office. Since we presumably have all the box office hypebeasts here ,can someone do the math for me?
>Crazy tinfoil hat character
>Refuses to go out into given public spaces because "they" are always watching
>Sleeps on his brother's couch because everyone in universe acknowledges that he's a nutjob and does not expect better
>Calls Batman a facist and we're all supposed to laugh at him
>morons assume that he is a mouthpiece for the people behind the movie and that it is sincerely trying to assert that
I hate this meme so much
...and LEADING WWITH THAT QUOTE WITH NO CONTEXT FOR A COMPLETELY UNKNOWN CHARACTER TURNED OUT TO BE A TERRIBLE FRICKING IDEA.
>Since we presumably have all the box office hypebeasts here ,can someone do the math for me?
Basically whatever the actual numbers are, it's a flop if I say it's a flop. I'm very sorry, but a movie needs to make the GDP of a small country to turn a profit unless I happen to like it or think pretending to like it will piss someome off.
Generally speaking. Budget*2.5=profit, even accounting for mArkEtinG.
What did they fricking expect when they said "yeah we're gonna reboot this enitre thing" before they released the last films in the slate
It's probably fine. But it's a hard sell to get people out to the theater for this random character. I'm not gonna pay $12 but i'll wait til HBO or whatever.
>It's probably fine
Yeah probably
I"m talking about the flick itself, not the box office.
dc fans are protesting they skipped ted kord
charleston fans are protesting they skipped dan garrett.
>source: the voices in my head
>dc fans are protesting they skipped ted kord, but not Charlton fans despite Ted being a Charlton creation and running there for 20 years before the DC acquisition
>Protesting the use of Jaime as the Beetle despite him being in all the non-comic shit since he came out like Smallville, Injustice, Young Justice
>Even though Ted Kord is important to this movie and poised to be even bigger in the (never ever) sequel
Okay moron
Sequel about Booster God and Jaime investigsting the drsth of Ted would be breasts. Like those dumb "two totally different guys from different races on a ROAD TRIP" action comedies of the 80's and 90's, except they're uncovering a tragedy.
Sounds moronic.
>dc fans are protesting they skipped ted kord
He's in the movie
>Wasn't this going to beat Barbie?
Literally nobody have said that? The movie failing is literally a meme on the internet
Frankly it doesn't matter how good or shit it is, nobody cares about capeshit anymore.
The writing is on the walls, and while there are a few outliers here and there, it's pretty obvious at this point the cost outweigh the gains from them.
Both Marvel and DC have gotten extremely stale in the eyes, and that's not going to change unless we get a TDK level masterpiece, which I really doubt current DC or Marvel are even capable of.
Maybe that new Superman movie will be that, but I doubt it, and in the current wake of Barbie and soon to be influx of toy based movies, it feels like a day late and a dollar short
Genera audiences have given up on DC. DC has a reputation of being a inferior product.
trailers were bad and released poorly.
lack of publicity/press because of the strikes
except for barbenheimer, I haven't seen anyone talking about going to the theaters for anything this summer
it was a tough sell with lack of faith from wb and poor timing.
I haven’t been to the movies since Covid.
no Snyder, no watch
