>Should I just watch The House That Jack Built instead?
I'd recommend 2049 and The House That Jack Built. The first blade runner is fine but it's kind of a meme.

The final cut? It's probably the final cut. Just kick back and understand
1. Replicants are not people but escaped and are hiding among people
2. Deckard is supposed to be retired

That version however is unfiltered trash.
It has narration so I assume it's the US standard release one.
I guess I have to pirate whatever other one. Which is fine since I just fricking paid $4. Do I watch the Director's Cut or The Final Cut?

Final Cut is good enough, only the color grading turns off purists but you aren't one if you're watching it for the first time.

Yea, it's already a direct improvement without the shit narration

Yeah watch final cut since it also fixes some special effects.
I like the narration of the original but I mean I also like blade runner so it's no big deal to me.
>Workprint Cut (1982) pre-release, before tainted with focus groups (never released to the masses) >San Diego Cut (1982) another pre-release event edited differently to please movie goers (never officially released) >American Theatrical Release (1982) >International Theatrical Release (1982) >Television Cut (1986) >Director's Cut (1992) >Final Cut (2007)
Some were cut for attention span of the American audience. Others were cut for the geeks who wanted to see it all. One was cut because Ridley Scott wanted a deep, slow burn, detective noir story. And others were cut because the studio wanted more popcorn action with some of that 80s synth-pop score playing.
>yes. >there are events in the first movie you need to understand, before watching 2049
No. Anything important is conveyed one way or another in BR204. Watch BR next tho.
I actually don't like anything by Villeneuve yet, between Sicaro, Arrival, Enemy, or Prisoners. I thought Prisoners was best of those though. I was trying to give him a shot with 2049, is this a mistake?
>Do I have to watch the first one?
only if you want to watch a bod movie. if you want to watch a good moive, watch the first five minutes of the first one and then turn it off
bladerunner 2049 has pretty visuals and thats pretty much it. it has shockingly bad plot considering the shear ammount of money they threw at everything else. 2 days after you watch it you cant even remember what happened, it's a shitshow, but still worth seeing on good screen for the pretty visuals
never saw the original bladerunner, but i can confidently say it's better movie becuase it's impossible to be worse than 2049
I saw both along with Taxi Driver, Godfather, No Country for Old Men, Apocalypse Now, 2001:a space oddyessy, La la land. I don't get any of it. Is that normal? Is the intention to watch them so you can understand the 10-20 minute mediocre essay videos to enjoy your tendies to? What's the mindset one should have when watching one of these films.
no
You should watch both BR films simply because both are great films.
Watch pic related first
Should I just watch The House That Jack Built instead?
idk how ready I am for 5 hours of Blade Runner bullshit, I'm not a sci-fi person

I'm 4 minutes into OG Blade Runner and I gotta say, it's not looking promising
which version?...there's like 5 cuts of this movie

There are 7 actually
>Workprint Cut (1982) pre-release, before tainted with focus groups (never released to the masses)

OG Blade Runner doesn't get good until like 45 minutes in but then it becomes a masterpiece.
Holy shit the narration is fricking terrible
watch the directors cut you fricking moron
That version however is unfiltered trash.
>the first blade runner is kind of a meme
the absolute state of this board
there are some good films there but you can get away with just watching happiness
yes.
there are events in the first movie you need to understand, before watching 2049
>yes.
>there are events in the first movie you need to understand, before watching 2049
No. Anything important is conveyed one way or another in BR204. Watch BR next tho.
Wrong. 2049 can be almost entirely pointless without the first movie.
I would say yes definitely.
yes and OG is at least 10x better as well make sure you watch the director's cut
Not at all but watch it anyway
Yes.
Then skip the second one.
Watch them both then the 2049 shorts then Black Lotus
>XD
Yea and just stop there
You can't be implying that 2049 is worse than this, right?
Duh
yeah and then skip the ugly digitally shot one with hack villeneuve
I actually don't like anything by Villeneuve yet, between Sicaro, Arrival, Enemy, or Prisoners. I thought Prisoners was best of those though. I was trying to give him a shot with 2049, is this a mistake?
Yes, both movies at the same time while washing your hair.
>Do I have to watch the first one?
only if you want to watch a bod movie. if you want to watch a good moive, watch the first five minutes of the first one and then turn it off
if I wanted to watch a bod movie I'd just type "fat slag" into pornhub and watch your mother getting fricked out by blacks
No, in fact don't watch either one or you deserve to be brutally fricking raped, dumb movie/TV watcher.
2049 without all the ford scenes is a good movie
2049 with only the ana scenes is a great movie
Not particularly, no. Blade Runner was overrated and 2049 is vastly superior.
bladerunner 2049 has pretty visuals and thats pretty much it. it has shockingly bad plot considering the shear ammount of money they threw at everything else. 2 days after you watch it you cant even remember what happened, it's a shitshow, but still worth seeing on good screen for the pretty visuals

Anon, I had to stop watching 40 minutes in.
I've abandoned any hope of watching 2049 because it was so shit.
dont bother trying to watch it again, you really arent missing much. the only reason i fought throu it is because i was on ryan goosling kino marathon
I saw both along with Taxi Driver, Godfather, No Country for Old Men, Apocalypse Now, 2001:a space oddyessy, La la land. I don't get any of it. Is that normal?
